A big silver medal for Marjorie & Zach that I definitely didn't expect after their difficulties in the preseason. Looking at their second assignment field, they're in a very good spot now.

Lia & Trennt also get their first podium. Given how consistent their jumping elements have been, especially hers, a shame it was that that cost them the gold, but whatever.
Yes, these were excellent results for both teams.

They are in contention for top six standing in the GP circuit. That would be a great accomplishment for both teams.
Absolutely. The dance field in particular is so crowded. If we assume the top 3 from last year (Piper/Paul, Maddie/Evan, Charlene/Marco) all make the final again, and add in Fear/Gibson and Fournier-Beaudry/Sorensen, that leaves just one final spot....It would be great to see Lajoie/Lagha get it.

Pairs is more open, especially with the world champions now out (having missed Skate America).

I guess it will depend on Hawayek/Baker ? However, they have tough draws and could end up with two bronze medals.

and Chan and Howe are out too... and so far Guarise and partner only have one event...

I’m confident with the Pairs. Due to these two teams being out.

For dance, our Canadian teams selected the right events 😜
Half the GP finals event will be Canadians; 🤞 I’m putting this into existence

Roman is entered for Warsaw (y)

He is the only Canadian entry (n)
So one needs to get injured and miss their early events to get added to later challengers? SIGH. They need to send Proft -Nadeau (saying this without knowing if Warsaw has pairs) who very well could be on the podium at Nationals with very little international experience. I don't think ACI is enough and counts as international experience when it's at the same ring they competed year after year for CQE for instance. Emma has perhaps never even competed out of Canada. This is going to hit hard if they are thrown into an ISU championship event without any prior outings.

Warsaw Cup only has non-Challenger pairs (Really stupid that they didn't at least make pairs a Challenger event after IceChallenge was cancelled, but nobody listens to me anyway), entries aren't known yet.

I can see them holding off on the men who could get second GP assignments. Corey too, based on his performance at October sectionals. But have substitutes too so that way you at least have the spots and can switch it out if someone gets an assignment.

Kaiya and Sara-Maude aren't likely to get a second assignment (imo, watch them both get second assignments now that I said that, it would be nice if they did!) I hope Skate Canada isn't counting on them being able to get their SP minimums this week for Maddie's sake.

I was hoping that they'd send Justine out for another try for her FS minimums. She has the third highest SB of the Canadian women right now and could also end up on the podium at Nationals.

Seems like Justine is getting penalized because she didn't quite perform the way they expected her too last year. But I agree after her 3rd place at ACI, they should be looking at sending her out as often as they can, especially since she came 3rd but still can improve on her programs. And that will only come by getting out there and doing them more in front of international judges.

That is excellent news, though, that he is recovered enough to begin competing! I’m glad!
It isn't necessarily 100% sure he'll actually compete. They could have entered him hoping, but not sure, that he'll be recovered in time. That said, I found the late withdrawal from Skate Canada a hopeful sign: if there was no chance he would be ready, they would have replaced him earlier.

I don't think she is being penalized, Skate Canada mostly gives out one Challenger assignment per skater/team as their strategy. If they're lucky, they'll get to use Lake Placid/Cranberry/John Nicks for a summer competition.

It's not a good strategy, especially when USFS put on King's Cup in Los Angeles this season and they didn't send one skater. Not even the one skater who trains in the area.

I found the gala order a bit odd. Were the organizers convinced that La/La were going to collapse in the FD?

Teams don't "Select" their own events---unless they were 2023 World Champions.
They were invited by a host country.
