2024 JGP Solidarity Cup is the sixth of seven individual events of the 2024-25 Junior Grand Prix series and will take place September 25-28, 2024, in Gdansk, Poland. The ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Series consists of seven international junior invitational events during the fall culminating with the 2024-25 ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in December 2024.

This event will feature the Singles (Women and Men), Pair and Ice Dance disciplines. It will be conducted in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations, the ISU Special Regulations & Technical Rules for Single & Pair Skating and relevant ISU Communications.

Points will be awarded to skaters and teams based on their placements for each individual event. These points will determine rankings and qualification for the ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final in December.

World Standing points will also be awarded according to Communication No. 2550.

Have Sofia Holichenko/Artem Darenskyi been a senior pair the past few seasons? Or am I muddling them with someone else.

Yep, that's the right team you are thinking of. In fact, they've not competed in Juniors once since pairing up in 2020.

How strange. It must be related to Sierova/Khobta's split and the upper age change. What doesn't make sense if that they are only doing one JGP event. Ukraine had plenty of spots because Sierova/Khobta made the free at junior worlds and they have no other pairs JGP entries this year.

Men:
🇨🇿 Jakub Tykal replaces Tadeas Vaclavik
🇯🇵 Daiya Ebihara has been withdrawn (and Taiga Nishino removed from the substitute list)

Ice Dance:
🇯🇵 Sumire Yoshida / Ibuki Ogahara have been withdrawn

Overall, thanks for nothing to one federation in particular - JSF, you know who you are.😡

Just saw this and...WHY???
Plus no substitutes assigned..?
I'm honestly lost for words at this point, this much talent while reducing opportunities...

It has been posted elsewhere that Japan requires skaters to place at least 4th in their first JGP to keep their second spot. Ebihara was 5th and Nishino 6th, so neither is eligible for a second JGP this year. Yoshida/Ogahara placed 8th. Ikura Kushida had already lost her second spot after placing 5th. It seems that JSF is perhaps unwilling to spend money sending skaters unless it believes they will medal. Whilst JSF is richer than many, it still doesn't have a bottomless pit of cash and there were rumours about financial issues contributing to the cancellation of the Japanese Open. We may not agree with the decisions, but I am glad at least that it isn't just Kushida who is being treated that way. I wouldn't be surprised if the ice dance team who competed at Ostrava also lose their second spot.

Jumping to top 4 after sending out skaters to a second JGP after placing as low as 8th last season is too much, imo. (Which did pay off, by the way, all of the skaters assigned to a second JGP after placing outside of the top 4 last season ended up medalling at their second assignment.)

And if it's financial issues, at least let skaters chose to compete as long as they can fund themselves - I'm sure some people would be willing to donate to gofundmes as well.
