2024 PGE Warsaw Cup: Info and pre-game chat

2024 PGE Warsaw Cup is the 10th of 11 events of the 2024-25 Figure Skating Challenger Series and is scheduled to take place in Warsaw, Poland, November 20-24, 2024.

The event will feature all four figure skating disciplines (Men, Women, Ice Dance, and Pairs) and will be conducted in accordance with the ISU Constitution and General Regulations, ISU Special Regulations & Technical Rules for Single & Pair Skating, Technical Rules for Ice Dance, and relevant ISU Communications.

The event will count towards ISU World Standing Points, Minimum Total Technical Score, Challenger Series in Figure Skating Ranking and Prize Money.

The Challenger Series is an International Figure Skating Series, introduced during the 2014-15 season. The series gives adequate opportunities for many skaters to compete at the international senior level and earn World Standing Points. The Series also increases the opportunity for Officials to officiate at an international level.

I'm a little surprised to see Ilia on the list, but I get also wanting another competition before the GPF.

It's pairs that is really catching my eye due to a bunch of international debuts.

I wonder if Ilia is planning to stay in Europe for whole 2 weeks before GP finals. And what about tickets? Last year it was free, I will be on budget in November but I could try to go to Warsaw if it is still free (I've got friends there, so no hotel needed).

There could also be another reason. Most likely his mother is going still be Europe with Sarah. Ilia needs to comfortable with mother being around when he is completing so this may the way that his parents want to do that. Sarah must be training really well because Ilia parents are starting to lay the ground work for both of them to be in Boston for worlds. Remember in many ways these GP's are like auditions for the US Ladies for the selection committee. Lin Gacey had her shot to impress them now it is Sarah's turn to make a good impression. Nationals for the ladies.is going to a pure blood and no one will be safe even Isabau may not make worlds I hope Sarah does very well because after being overlooked for so long she earned the right to shine she just needs to capture the opportunity to do so.

I don't know how I missed this, but based on the entry list and her updated bio, Nargiz Sueleymanova (former German Junior Champion) switched from Germany to Azerbaijan and is now training in Canada

Okay... I HATE that new entries page. The simple list was much easier. It also showed the subs, and the new one doesn't seem to.

In pairs, Brooke and Ben are competing against each other for the first time and we also have what I believe is an international debut for Audrey Shin and Balazs Nagy.

I think so.

The simple entry lists are filled out now (https://results.isu.org/events/fsevent00120616.htm ), so the subs are there now. Looking at the pairs, they can be filled out since the partners have the individual pages. They don't need to create a new page for them as a team.

Wow at all the pairs switcharoo teams all listed in a clunk (there are a couple more lower down the list like Shin/Nagy)

I highlighted those who are Canadians or have briefly represented Canada. If I am not mistaken, only Noël-Antoine didn't train in Canada but all others have at some point.... but for Noël, his previous partner was a Canadian...
Only person missing from this switcharoo is Thierry Ferland LOL

I am amusing myself because it seems like CAN doesn't send skaters out much.. but in fact, there are Canadians everywhere, just not skating for Canada. Sigh
