I’ll do my annual “put up with Peacock for the month of January only” since it tends to come with the bonus of a few movie exclusives I want to stream (Conclave this year being the big one, last year it was The Holdovers)
:ot: I saw Conclave! I thought it was pretty good, but not great. Unfortunately, I saw it in a theater just before it got released to Peacock and I didn't know it would be released there... 🤦‍♀️

I finally caved and got Peacock for the Olympics, and I've kept it. It's not my go-to streaming service, but I watch enough to make it worth the modest investment. So that's where I'll be viewing Nationals.

Tagging on to a side-discussion: Conclave was disappointing. The reality did not match my expectations, but there have been a few instances in which Peacock has had very recent theater releases, so that's an unexpected bonus, because I do not go to movie theaters.

Haha well, I had just seen a much more disappointing film in theaters earlier today so compared to that I enjoyed Conclave a lot. If I was ranking best films of 2024 it wouldn’t be in my top ten but it was indeed worth seeing.

Oh no, I hope that film that was disappointing wasn't Nosferatu! Even though I'm not normally the type who watches horror movies, I'm in the mood for something with a brooding Gothic atmosphere...

Now to get this thread back on topic:

If you still have a Japanese VPN, JSports On Demand has live coverage of all events. (I don't know how difficult the process is for registering for JSports on Demand; I haven't tried it before.) If you still have access to a Japanese TV service, the JSports 4 channel will have live coverage of the men's and women's events. Sadly, the pairs and ice dance competitions will only be aired on TV about two weeks after US Nationals ends. :( The full schedule of coverage may be found here and here.

I'll be watching, I'll have to see which is better, Peacock or network TV.

Historically, TV only shows some of the performances, so I'll be watching on Peacock, most likely.

One note, I went to the Senior Women's Short Program thread, and the "Times In Other Places" link seems to have the wrong times in it.

From what I can make out, the SWSP starts on the East Coast at 8:20pm on the 23rd, but it's showing 8:20am for that day.

Are we sure that Peacock is going to be showing the US Nationals? I swear the tiles were all up (a week or so ago) on the Peacock site for the Canadian Nationals events, but they have all now disappeared. And I don't see any tiles for the US Nationals. I'm going to be pissed if I've held onto my Peacock subscription for no reason!

They will be.

I wonder who is doing commentary.

Since I have no TV, there is no reason for me to purchase TV access for watching the Nationals. I do have Nord VPN, the purchased kind, for my PC. Does anyone happen to know what other countries (which might have access to English) might broadcast the US Nationals online? I think I watched it before via Canada's CBC Sports but I don't remember for sure. If it turns out there is no way for me to watch it, maybe some of the best routines will be posted online somewhere for at least a few days. And for sure I'll check the results.

Unbelievably, Wichita KS is where I grew up and spent more than half my life!
