Looking to upgrade to new skates

So I started skating when I was about five and I got Jackson Mystique skates ( trust me it is important) and I stoped till I was about 12 years old when I came to skating. I progressed till jumping axels and my first double salchlows with these skates. Because I live in Serbia only then I was able to but Jackson freestyle boots with mounted Aspire XP blades( at that time you wouldn’t buy any sort of skating equipment in Serbia so we had to wait for a trip overseas to buy them). (I know that jumping axels in Jackson Mytique boots was a really bad idea). just came back to skating a couple of months ago( I’m 14 now) and I have decided that I will need new skates soon so I came to ask what kinds of blades should I think about getting? I struggle a bit with spins ( I heard that the Apire XP has a quite flat rocker profile) and I need a blade that isn’t complicated to sharpen like the matrix legacy or the JW parablolic or rev( heard they need special techs).I was also a bit worried that the transition from 8’ rocker blades to 7’rocker blades might be bad because I’m already quite used to spinning at the front of my blades which I think is the source of my issues when spinning front sit spins because I scratch the ice with my toe pick all the time. I also have issues with my camel spins( going on my toe pick) and it might be related to my boots not being hard enough? I’m 156cm tall and weigh 50kg.Any suggestions?

Hi and welcome. I would love to help you out here. Could you let us know what foot type you have because that will also help with suggesting the brand that will best fit you. Are you still in Serbia or will you be looking to buy your boots in another country? Knowing that will help suggest a proper fitter.

As far as blades you are good on intermediate blades: Traditional MK Pro or JW Coronation Ace (no rev or lite).

So my foot type appears to be African and yes, I'm still in Serbia and I plan on buying my new skates as soon as possible so I won't be able to have them professionally fitted and they only boots they sell are the Edea ones. I forgot to mention some things in my post earlier and those are that I am preparing to take a skating test that will allow me to train more often because in Serbia there is a system in place that allows only kids that pass certain tests to be "competitors" which basically means that they have access to more skating terms and can train for a longer period of time during the year. I need to be able to jump a double salchow and any other double jump to be able to pass the test and I was wondering if perhaps my current skating boots have an effect on me landing my doubles and will new boots hinder my progress ( breaking them in, transition from 8' rocker blades to 7' rocker blades)

Hi. Thanks for answering! :)

I worry about you being restricted to an Edea boot because your foot type indicates that it would not fit right and be uncomfortable for you especially in the toebox area. Your foot type is more suited to Jackson, Graf, even Risport. Would you be able to get your measurements done in Serbia or do a virtual fitting with a professional fitter that you could order a brand from that would work better for your feet and needs? If so we could help you with that here, give you the information for someone that could do a virtual fitting.

Also, as far as blades go and the ones I suggested MK Pro or JW Coronation Ace (traditional styles). You will not have a huge transition time with going from your Aspire XP 8' to the 7'. At first you may feel a slight difference but should be able to transition quickly.

Well about that Edea now has boots for wide feet and I actually tried chorus boots in my size just in the wide toebox model and it felt pretty nice. I never thought about doing a virtual fitting, but i dont think we could order boots from another country beacuse it would be quite complicated and It's so much easier to buy Edea boots in the model for wide feet. Also to ask I heard Mk pro's are easier to spin in because it has a more prominent rocker profile?

They are still more narrow, but do as you wish. MK Pro has an extended rocker profile which causes less rubbing of the ice and allows for the ability to have quicker spins with more rotations.

If you really think Edea boots aren't suitable for me, I will try to find a way to buy my skates in a different country, or get a virtual fiiting but I would need the info for somebody who does virtual fittings. Perhaps somebody might know some fitters I could go to in Europe ( maybe in the UK?), anyway thank you so much for the information, it really means alot to me ( :
