Laurence Fournier-Beaudry and Guillaume Cizeron to skate together for France

I'll be honest, I have no idea what to think of this.
This very much reminds me of the Vanessa James/Eric Radford situation we had before the last Olympics.
However, it'll definitely be interesting to see how this goes. A lot of ice dance (for better or worse) is based on reputation and it'll be interesting to see how that plays out here.

As with any team sport, even if you have great individuals, that doesn't guarantee a brilliant or cohesive whole.

honestly i see it too as a James/Radford operation, it might be easier for him to get canadian citizenship (as far as i know he still lives and works there), if so i'm sorry for Fabbri/Ayer and Lauriault/Le Gac

Of course, there is no guarantee. At the same time, you cannot create a great orchestra if each one of the musicians are not technically sound. These two ice dancers are fabulously skilled, they've known each other -training in the same facility, for years. If they are willing to go this way, I suspect that they believe it's working out.

I am a huge Fabbri/Ayer fan. I thought about them and LaLa as soon as I heard the news... but then, I also suspect that by the time they'd be ready for competition, Piper and Paul may have retired... but apparently, they want to skate for France... so our thoughts will have to be for Theo and Loicia and many other young teams.

They've likely been trying it out and plotting this for many months now, so I'm excited to see where this leads.

It really does put in perspective the answer of Gabby when she was asked if she would skate with Guillaume again.
I am sure she already knew this was happening. I agree they certainly have been trying things out for a while at this point.

My impression is that Gabby doesn't give one hoot what Guillaume does.
I do not know what happened in that partnership, but from her standpoint, it was definitely over. She was DONE.

I´m not sure how I feel about this. Obviously they are both very skilled and talented - and it might end up with one of the best teams we have seen and i´m curious to see how that works. On the other side - my perception of Cizeron is not good after what I have been reading about him not supporting Gabby through difficult times and him supporting Nik, and it feels hard to be supportive. Also obviously Laurence is not at fault for everything that happen in her previous partnership but since Cizeron was supporting Nik i´m guessing they are still supporting him as a team. Tbh. I would have felt better if Laurence ended up skating with somebody else that seems like a better person overall.
