I think it works both ways : remember last time in 2023 Lim/Quan made their senior debut at the world team trophy, so the points they earned for skating on the jgp and at the junior worlds 2023 mattered for their nomination on the South Korean team.
And it allows (especially now considering the new ceilling for junior pairs ages) for Senior skaters who skated at junior worlds (like Matelkina/Berulava) or the junior grand prix (like Anna Pezzetta) to count towards their team qualification too.
It would be interesting if they might consider to add a "must be age eligible to count towrads the team's qualifiaction" restiction.

idk how realistic that is as neither has been practicing and Morisi retirement was 2 seasons ago. They can just send an incomplete team as the chances of them beating any of the others with 2 skaters that are not in any sort of competitive shape is very unlikely so the results wouldn't change really. Its a fun comp that guarantees everyone some earnings I doubt they care enough to pull skaters out of retirement for that.

Technically, they have to send their best skaters on the world/season standing (or is it seasons' best) list. So there shouldn't be much surprises.

Wow didn't expect France to rank so high, but I guess men's results at world championships helped.

The problem with Georgia is that is it quite an "artificial" team for now, they put a lot of efforts building a strong first team, bringing up competitive top athletes in each category (many of them coming from abroad), but behind these numbers one, there is almost no one (no matter their level) in Georgia and they didn't work on preparing decent numbers two (at least for the extra quotas they get at european and world championships with the good results of the first team).

This year they held Georgian Nationals for the first time, because they finally have a suitable ice-rink. As far as the results are concerned, there was nothing to bet in. The only exception is in ice-dance, it looks like Davis Smolkin didn't compete, so Kazakova Revia are the champions.

So maybe this event is fluff, but I have been to one of these types of events and its lots of fun for us fans and I think for the skaters. It brings money into the sport and money for the skaters.
