Looking through the entries, and off hand I see lots of skating families represented:

  • One of the Appleby siblings.
  • Both of the Fitterer brothers.
  • One of the Flores sisters.
  • One of the Joos sisters.
  • Both of the Wood twins.
  • One of the Zandron brothers.

Additionally, I take it Milada Kovář is the daughter of Karel Kovář Senior / sister of Karel Kovář Junior. And that the Meeks are siblings.

It's always lovely to see members of a family having a common interest.

Yes, the Meeks are brother and sister (and they are partially coached by their mother).
And Milada is Karel's daughter and Kai's sister, though I don't think Kai ever went by Karel Jr.

Thank you for the confirmation.

From what I've heard, both father and son tend to use "Kai". So, since I was mentioning both of them, I used their full names just to make everything as clear as I could.

I wonder if the young Kovářs will ever form a sibling partnership at some stage in the future.

And sorry about the typo with the Meeks. I've fixed it now.

What is the minimum number of entrants needed in each category for the scores to be counted as the CTES for ISU championships?

Just two entries representing two different countries.
For WS points, there need to be more entries (5 for pairs, 6 for ice dance and 8 for singles) from 3 (pairs) or 4 (ice dance and singles) countries.

Thanks. :) I was concerned that there weren't enough entries in most categories, but I was muddling the minimum for CTES with that for WS points. I am a little bit spooked, though, that you seem somehow to have known that I had muddled the two! :ROFLMAO:

Entries seem to have disappeared?

Not just the Entries - everything that was on the Sportity page has disappeared apart from the Announcement. There was a Provisional Schedule on there too that is no longer there.

I wonder if there have been a significant number of changes to the entries (unfortunately, probably withdrawals rather than additions), and the organisers are re-jigging the whole event as a result.

Can I just take the opportunity to say that I was disappointed to find that this is such a small scale event. Only Juniors and Seniors for the Singles categories, with the Advanced Novices joining the Juniors and Seniors in Pairs skating. Given that it is a bank holiday weekend, I was expecting it to be a full-blown event. Kinda like what the Dundee club does with the Tayside Trophy or the Dundee Open.

But, I suspect that the venue is in demand over the weekend, and that is why it is just Thursday and Friday.

In answering a different question over in the British & Irish thread, @Ruthypegs has got to the bottom of the scheduling.

This IS actually part of a bigger event. The August Qualifiers are being held from Monday to Wednesday, with the Robin Cousins Cup following on the Thursday and Friday.

Still surprised that the event finishes on the Friday. But, as I said, the venue probably has other things on over the bank holiday weekend.

Thank you for letting us know, Ruthy   :points:

:thank:

I removed the e-mail address from the quote.

Really hoping that the skaters that got me so excited about this event are still going to be there. 🤞

The updated Entries List and Time Schedule for the Robin Cousins Cup are now up. And there have been a couple of changes.

In Senior Men, Edward Appleby (GBR) has been replaced by Connor Bray (GBR).

And the Senior Pairs competition has disappeared completely. :jaw:

So, just to have it down here in black and white, that means that Zinia Wood / Harry Mattick (GBR), Linzy Fitzpatrick / Keyton Bearinger (USA), and Olivia Flores / Luke Wang (USA) have all withdrawn.

It's a pity, but hey.

Other than that, everybody else is still there.

Junior Pairs: Robin Cousins Cup
1- Rebecca Ritchie / Kyle Mcleod - GBR
2- Zarah Wood / Alex Lapsky - GBR
3- Milada Kovar / Jared McPike - USA
4- Juliet Meek / Devin Meek - USA

Sorry, I forgot to post earlier. The August Qualifier was due to start half an hour ago with the first two Pairs competitions (the Basic Novice FS, and the Junior SP).

The Senior Ladies SP is due to start now.

Unfortunately, Skater #2 Arabella SEAR-WATKINS (Dundee) has withdrawn.

We also have a withdrawal from the Junior Ladies SP later on. Skater #11, Darya DALGICH (Romford).

Hope everything is alright with both of them.

I had been planning to attend the ISU part of this event later in the week, but things have transpired against that happening. The most suitable flights for me (in terms of both the times and price) were to Liverpool, but getting from there to Sheffield proved too complex for somebody who is not confident with public transport, and specifically making changes along the way. (The sooner Robin Hood Airport re-opens the better!)

Plus, I had an unexpected major expense appear last week. I went to a National Trust property, and when I tried to take a photo using my DSLR camera, discovered that it wouldn't do so. And it turned out that the lens has developed a major fault and needs replaced.

:cheer: ALL THE BEST EVERYBODY!!! :cheer:

Right, the dinner break is now over. The Junior Ladies SP is now starting.

They're still using the same stream that the Senior Singles skaters were on before the break.

Hopefully all the issues they were having with the streaming this morning have been ironed out.

No, still no sound. 😞

Well, I'll start watching, but I might end up leaving after a while. You don't get the full impact of the programmes without the music.

I really hope that if there is streaming on Thursday and Friday for the ISU part of the event that we have sound then.

First of all, the livescoring sprung into life in time for skater #3, Alisa BISEROVA (Romford), getting her scores. Which I was very grateful for, because I was starting to question whether I was right in thinking this was Group 1 of the Juniors.

OK, so after watching skater #1, Gemma RATCLIFFE (Nottingham), in silence, I decided to put on the radio so that there was some music accompanying the skaters. And this is what I ended up with:

#2 Alex KNOX (Magnum) - "Beautiful Dreamer" by Roy Orbison
#3 Hannah ROBERTSON (Kirkcaldy) - "Out OF Time" by Chris Farlowe
#4 Alisa BISEROVA (Romford) - "Oh Boy" by Mud
#5 Liri GONEN COHEN (Sheffield) - "I've Got To Get A Message To You" by the Bee Gees

Group 2 Warm-Up - "The Best Part Of Braking Up" by the Ronettes, "Happiness" by Ken Dodd, and "Crazy Dreams" by Patsy Cline.

#6 Polly MORRIS (Dundee) - "Deep In The Heart Of Texas" by Dave Edmunds

It would be cool to see some of those songs being skated to for real. Some of the others, though... :p

Sorry, but I'm bailing out now. All the best to the remaining skaters that are in action today.

CaroLiza_fan

It actually turned out to be a good decision to not get invested in the skating today. About 15 minutes after I bailed out, our electricity went off for an hour!

No idea why. There was no warning letter like there normally is when there is a planned power cut. And the weather is beautiful, so that wasn't the reason either.

Perhaps somebody digging somewhere around the town accidentally cut an underground cable.

But the main thing is that it is back on.
