Wait! Max and Deanna are on this entry list? How did I not know they'd be here.

This looks like a Team USA audition for Chinese Nebelhorn. They've got the whole family in the comp.

@4everchan who was the third Canadian pair at Worlds? I've forgotten and I wish they were here. They were the most underscored team at that event, IMO.
Except Valentina Plazas / Maximiliano Fernandez who are attending Kinoshita Group 3 days later, maybe they will be considered by US Figure skating as well.
And the 3rd Canadian team that you are so missing is going to be in Japan too. Only the 2nd Canadiam team doesn't want to compete at this time of the season.

Lia and Trennt did compete at Glacier Falls and took the win

The ISU page for Junior Pairs only has Moss/Galbavy, Meek/Meek and Carpenter/Maravilla with the rest of the US pairs as subs

But the USFS international assignments page has

Carpenter/Maravilla
Kovar/McPike
McDanold/Felberbaum
Meek/Meek
Moss/Galbavy

So does this mean Kovar/McPike and McDanold/Felberbaum are no longer substitutes but will actually compete?

they competed at JGP Riga Cup this weekend
Yeah ..,. my point was the US International Assignments page (which has 5 entries) does not match with the ISU page (which has only 3 US entries)

ISU https://isu-skating.com/figure-skat...s-challenge-international-2025/?type=11813486 only has Carpenter / Maravilla, the Meeks, and Moss/Galbavy

While the US assignments page https://usfigureskatingfanzone.com/...26-international-assignments-and-results.aspx lists five. The US assignments page usually does not list the substitutes.

Carpenter/Maravilla
Kovar/McPike
McDanold/Felberbaum
Meek/Meek
Moss/Galbavy

I think Ellie is still recovering from her concussion sustained at an exhibition in July, IIRC. Sorry to hear they won't be competing at John Nicks.

I will try to attend depending on various factors, including scheduling and weather (ie. I'm not going in the pouring rain - Chelsea Piers is not close to the subway, cabs can get expensive and buses are unreliable). I think they release the schedule the day before, so I'll be stalking the event page on Labor Day to see if the times work for me.

My gripe about attending this event is that they hold it in the West Rink, which has no seating - unless you call climbing on top of lockers three feet off the ground seating. Apparently they can't hold pairs events in the East Rink (where there is plenty of bleacher seating) due to the rink size. I learned this from SCNY president Troy Goldstein last year when I was bitching on their social media, lol. You can't even stand back and watch because the rink is slightly raised. When I went in 2022 to watch Mid Atlantics' Senior Women, I literally stood at the side of the rink entrance where the skaters and their coaches where. I tried to be out of their way as much as possible but I remember Lindsay Thorngren giving me the stink eye, or maybe I was imagining it.

I just cannot get over the fact that we have here, in the Challenger series, an event with no easy access for audiences and once you finally get there.... no seats.

I think, but not certain, that this is the comp last year where the only video available was this nice random person who shared her videos on X. It was a labor of love. Her angle was not ideal, but I was grateful to see even those. These skaters deserve better.

I went to John Nicks two years ago and recall there being about five seats, one of which I managed to snag. Others went for the locker hop option or stood behind us but it was really wild. especially since I could see more seating behind the judges… which nobody was allowed to use.

Do you recall where in the rink the seats were located? Were they just folding chairs that someone brought in? I didn't see any seats when I went in 2022. I would hope that they would at least provide some seating for spectators for this event.

Also, did they charge you admission to watch the event? I didn't pay when I attended mid-Atlantics but I arrived halfway thru the event, so I don't know if they were charging. Speaking of judges, when I went to Mid Atlantics, I recognized two of the judges - Peter Cain (Ashley's dad) and Todd Sand. This was a few months before his heart attack at Junior Worlds.
