2025 Kinoshita Group Cup Pairs Free Skate

That was their first competition since Worlds 2024, I was expecting some bobbles.
I know and realize that. I was hoping that time off would give them a fresh start and old patterns would not be so fixed, but

Very dramatic end pose. I hope they have a contigency plan for that! I liked last year’s free better, but at least they seem to be moving away from the maudlin stuff.

I thought the same about the ending pose... it's a bit cocky too... for the Olympics.

I don't like this free at all.

Yes! Yunasumi competed at Worlds last year but didn't make the FS, hence they need to qualify the spot.
Having watched the dismal efforts of our teams at John Nicks - I think you are going to get it. After Danny & Ellie are done - we do not have much left in the well other than Alisa & Misha and Katie & Danill. I fear pairs will be a thing of the past in the US within 5 years.

Pairs was almost always USA's weakest discipline. I wouldn't worry too much now that USA has world champions in the 3 other disciplines. In some ways, the pairs field in the USA is quite deep right now... maybe no medal contenders but many good teams

as a person with a heart issue - that is fatigue and pain mixed. I would take advantage of good care just to be safe.
I think he is probably going to "suffer" until he gets his medals at the olympics (note the plural) and then take care of his health

It won't do much good if you can't field a pairs team. Many of our current teams are going to move on with life after this year. Tracking our teams, I wish I could find optimism but I do not see progress.

What an ending pose.

I think the two programs Rikuryu have this season should be enough to contend for the Olympic golds, both in their individual and team event.

Japan has lowkey a chance to go home with 3 OGMs and the team gold....

i think the USA will get that third spot... but they should send a stable team... it will be interesting to see what they do. For me, the choice is obvious.

I doubt Japan can win the team gold considering ice dance... in men and women, it should be relatively even... in pairs, USA won't be behind as far as Japan would be in dance... but just my hunch at this point in time.

Yeah, ice dance is their biggest liability. But the other 3 has potential, and their frontrunners all have decent programs and are so far ahead skating-wise (consistency of landing jumps is another matter we will see on the day).

US will likely confirm the third spot or be first substitute. And send to the Olympics whoever has the mins and citizenship. I don’t think they will give up any spot even if they earn them with teams that can’t go.

Did you see John Nicks - we do not have a stable team. Alisa & Misha or Katie & Danill are stable but ineligible so that is that. The team they are counting on struggled - I do not want to name names. NONE of them are competition ready. I love pairs and I stopped watching every single team and felt really sad the discipline is dying here so soon after Alexa & Chris triumphed.
