2025-2026 Canadian Figure Skating

Just looked at the Judges scores and although GoGo won the CAN judge didn't do him any favours, she marked him lower than the other judges.

Sportity has the planned content on the start orders for Nepela and Sara-Maude has a 3A on it for the first jumping pass in the free and she finished 3rd in the short.

I am getting out the candles now 🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️
Honestly, its now or never really. She needs something that sets her apart if she wants the Olympic spot.

I know she needs to get it out there. It's still the first attempt in competition, I'm getting out all the candles for this.

Gogolev and Sadovsky in the same competitions early in the season. Three medals between them. Two of the front runners for the Olympic spot. More motivation and incentive to do well? Inspired decision by the Skate Canada? Hmm....

I think pairing them up was to have as many options to compare apples to apples as opposed to scores from competitions. I'm sure it was done purposefully. If it's causing them to skate better accordingly, perfect.

Summer and Nicholas won the bronze and were the only skaters representing Canada in Baku (no singles). This is the 10th medal for Canada so far this season. Congrats. I haven't seen yet their free dance but it looks a bit rougher than usual considering the protocols. They were only 5th in the Free Dance but managed to hold on to the podium.

Did they help Anderson-Dawson ? Maybe a bit but not really enough.

Ambre and Samuel (from France) won and are now leading the standings with 28 points

The young Italians scored 13 points and are now in contention. They were not on my radar and they have another assignments. They scored in the same range as Anderson-Dawson.. .so a tie-breaker could be crazy tight.

Where Summer and Nicholas helped was by edging the Belgians who finished 4th. The Belgians are now officially not going to be able to beat Charlie and Cayden as the best they could do is 24 points. At this point, the Belgians could even help Charlie and Cayden by outranking other contenders in the last event.
Nice!!! Are we still in second place ahead of Korea and USA?

Sandrine Blais posted to her Instagram stories about being assigned to Icechallenge in November. She is registered as a Senior in Sectionals, so there's at least one Challenge bye for Quebec Senior Women now.
Yay!! Called it 😝
This was the only net positive from that Quebec event. I’m glad Skate Canada followed through.
With the bye, QUE sectionals just got one placement harder. I’m glad Sandrine has moved up to Seniors.

So glad to see Gogolev win his challenger! Fingers crossed we see a good skate from him in Saskatoon as well
Wow!! He also skated 250+
Gogolev is a top ten contender for Olympics and WC now….
Also, he surpassed my Romsky for the spot. Romsky was robbed on PCS. He should have finished 2nd. It is amazing how judges drop you when you aren’t the number 1 from a country

I don't think the judges dropped him for that reason but more that they needed to hold the USA skaters up.

what about Jason Brown. ROman has had too many poor skates at big copetitions.

Her SP was fantastic!! She is my favourite Canadian Senior lady at this moment. If she nails the 3A, I will scream for a whole minute!!!

Men’s - The battle between Romsky and GoGo is tied at 1-1. With each Canadian man winning a Challenger. I never thought this would happen this season

Ladies - Loved SMD and Kaiya SP. Both scored 64. Wow!! I want these ladies over 180. Maddie, the competition is on

Pairs - I do now see an opportunity for Yohnathan and Ava to nab the second Olympic spot 😳

That’s doubtful for K/E, even with an aborted lift, a fall on a throw and a double sal. P/M still out scored them by 4 pts.

I’m not saying K/E won’t get there or that there improvement over the summer wasn’t huge, but I still don’t think they are going to overtake P/M this season.

I would say the two spots for pairs and top two dance teams are pretty much a lock.

I think it's time to Sara-Maude Dupuis to try her triple axel at Ondrej Nepela in the FS, if she want to be consider number 1 in Canada for Skate Canada Grand Prix she need to put a triple axel here. And, she landed it multiple times in warm up and practice this summer, she just need to do it in competition to train it like Mirai Nagasu did in her Olympic season for creating momentum with this new jump.
