Jazmine DESROCHERS / Kieran THRASHER (CAN) were skating to a Black Eyed Peas medley. "Meet Me Halfway" followed by "Boom Boom Pow".

The longer I saw them, the more I liked Jazmine's costume. But I can't say the same about Kieran's costume.

A great start to the competition.

I could have sworn that was Michael Bublé singing in that "Fly Me To The Moon" duet that Reagan MOSS / Jakub GALBAVY (USA) were skating to. But, according to their ISU Bio, it wasn't. It was Rick Hale, along with Breea Guttery.

Reagan is wearing a pink dress. Jakub is wearing a matching shirt, and black trousers.

Between the music, and the costumes, and the smiling, it was all a bit too sugary for me.

Chelsea is wearing a black dress with white polka dots and red trim. Ryan is the man in black.

That was a really enjoyable programme. They were great!

Yes, I am one of the many people whose brain automatically reads "Yagudin" rather than "Yudin".

They were good. But, that is hardly surprising as we know how good the coaches are in Canada.

I prefer the instrumental. Makes more of an impact. But, the skating was good.

Ah, Meagan Duhamel sitting with them. So we've had back-to-back partnerships that are team-mates.

Lily WILBERFORCE / Mozes Jozsef BEREI (HUN) were skating to an awful cover of "Can't Take My Eyes Off You".

She is wearing a dark purple dress with white trim. He is wearing matching dark purple trousers and braces, and a white shirt with dark purple cuffs.

Thankfully, the skating was better than the singing!

They go into 7th position.

An Aretha Franklin programme for Sophia SCHALLER / Livio MAYR (AUT)!!! "Natural Woman" followed by "RESPECT".

Two very contrasting songs, but they did actually work well together.

Sophia is wearing a pale pink dress. Livio is wearing a black t-shirt and black trousers.

I really enjoyed that. A great way to finish the Pairs competitions for the day.

We come back from the resurfacing to a new stream. And we finish the day with a Junior FS double-bill. A group of 6 cacti; followed by 29 girls.

Ziga JEVNIK (SVN) wearing a grey top and black trousers. I never would have guessed that from his costume that it would be a "Rocky" programme.

I take it that Klara JEVNIK (SVN) that finished 4th in Advanced Novices earlier is his sister. Because when he came off the ice, he threw something over to a younger girl that was waiting.

It was just his coach sitting with him in the results area.

Such strange music and strange costume for Elian THOMANN (FRA). Is he auditioning to be an Ice Dancer?

He is wearing purple trousers, and a top that has white and blue sections. And there is a blue circle in the white section on the front.

He is skating to Muse, but it is not a song I have ever heard before. "The Void".

Unfortunately, he had a fall towards the end.

Maksym PETRYCHENKO (AUT) was "Running From The Daylight"!

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Yes, he was skating to "Daylight" by David Kushner. He was wearing an interesting costume. It was black, but around the top it looked like the night sky with stars and constellations. Or maybe I am reading too much into it, and it was just lines and dots!

He was good.

Robert WILDT (DEU) was wearing a beautiful royal blue top with black trousers.

And the music and skating was beautiful too.

And then the music turned into a song I was listening to a few weeks ago because I was going to use it for the video I was making for Marilena's birthday. Except that Robert was skating to a cover of "Chasing Cars", not Snow Patrol's original. I don't like this Cinematic Pop version.

Cover aside, I enjoyed that programme.

That was funny. He and his coach were sitting there a long time, and suddenly his coach noticed that Robert wasn't wearing his team jacket, and told him to put it on.

He goes into 2nd position in both the FS and overall.

William CHAN (CAN) was wearing a grey top and black trousers. And the whole way through the first section of his programme I was thinking "this is going to turn into music I know". But it didn't.

I was really enjoying the instrumental music. Why replace it with a song that doesn't fit with it? It spoiled the programme for me.

The skating, though, was great!

He has nobody sitting with him, because the next skater, Louie FUKUDA-WU (TPE), is his team-mate.
