At the moment we have people all over the place announcing comebacks. Some of them (Liu and Cizeron) have made it work, others have been disastrous. We will have to wait and see, there is a looooong time to '30. For everyone.
I don't think Russian fed is going to release an Olympic, worlds and European medalist.
Adeliia is going this year so why not Sasha in 4 years?

They would release her if she wanted. It has nothing to do with any of that. They would not even have the authority to keep her. They did not release Zhillina because they funded her training and she kept WDing from every event last second. She was even on the national team.

That's a no. They only release nepo-cases or skaters with a solid second (or first) citizenship/residency. And ISU enabled them to maintain this hold despite the so-called 2 year rule. Aside for Zhilina, they didn't release Cirisano (Russian domestic career), Popov (career-ending) and (presumably) Nazarychev (career-ending).
I also feel that from a human perspective, repeat focus on OGM with the same team that used OGM as a motivation for Trusova's 5 quads program leading into 2022 Olympics and the fallout of their crude manipulations there is a disastrous choice. This is not a team that nurtures, strives on adversity, is resilient to failures, or sticks to their students through thick and thin.

That's what I don't get. She must have realised that Eteri and team were the ones leading her along and causing her humiliation and meltdown at the Olympics. That they never had her best interest in mind.
She had a kid and got married; you'd think that might have given her some perspective, but instead she goes back to that team team anyway.

Trusova embarrassed herself at the Olympics with her crying. She hated Shcherbakova winning, she always lost to her and Valieva. Trusova thought if she jumped 5 quads she would win. When she didn't win, she became a sore loser.That's what I don't get. Trusova often behave inadequately it has nothing to do with Eteri (Eteri is just a coach she didn't raise her). Egadze is a real sweetheart, do we give credit for raising Egadze to be a well mannered, cheerful, humble fellow if we're going to blame her for Trusova (and Kostornaia) acting like naughty children.
Even right now, Trusova is participating in the Ice Age. Her partner is complaining she's only been to training twice, ignores him, does her own thing on the ice. Treats him with contempt. She basically admits she turned up for the money and PR.
Having a child or getting married doesn't make someone behave adequately, I mean look around at the world you live in.

Pretty sure Team Eteri never sat down with her and told her to work on her skating skillsand that 5 shoddy quads would not be enough to beat Valieva or Shcherbakova. Yes, I know she should have realized this herself, but if I were her I would still be mad at a coching team that didn't care at all.

I think that her coaching team DID have her best figure skating interests at heart. I also think that the view, "Do the most quads and you will win" is not at all unrealistic or cynical. And in fact, in the Olympic LP she DID do the most quads and she finished first, despite not having a perfect skate.
Bad sport? Her flub on the triple Axel in the Short Program had torpedoed her lifelong dream. She was mad at the world. Whatever.
The thing is, if you’re not Russia's (or any other nation's) number one, your own people won't have your best interests at heart. And I’m not even sure that’s true for the number one either. If you are consistent, play by the rules, and have a certain dose of luck, maybe your team and the judges will do something for you. skaters are there to serve the interests of the sport, not the other way around. They are part of a machine, and they sign up for this from the start.
hence you need to be a reliable horse if you want people to bet on you in this race. Trusova's real problem was that her teammates were more consistent than she was; therefore, they were the ones pushed by the school and the federation. You can't have three favorites at once. Japan and the USA are exactly the same. It's understandable that the number two or three feels 'robbed,' but if you want to be crowned queen, you have to keep it real and stick to the winning policy.
Besides, I’m pretty sure her meltdown was nothing new in the sport. Figure skaters are extremely competitive people with a 'killer instinct.' I’m sure they regularly throw tantrums, just behind closed doors. I didn't see that scene with Trusova as a 'sign of mental abuse' from her environment, but rather as a display of entitlement and stubbornness that didn't surprise me all that much.

I remember the hoopla about the widespread rumor that Irina Slutskaya got so agitated about not winning the Olympic gold medal in 2002 that she angrily threw her silver medal in the trash.
When Michelle Kwan (like Irina a sweetheart of a person) departed the ice after her free sake performance at the same Olympics, she was confronted by a reporter and Michelle shut the door in her face, saying only that she would have a statement after the event was concluded.

Many told her this. She doesn't listen to anybody. Does what she wants always. Her dad spoiled her. This is why I absolutely don't believe in her comeback.

Skating skills? If Kamila Valieva and Anna Shcherbakova were better, well, they were better than a lot of people. Kurt Browning had amazing blade to ice skills. He never won an Olympic medal in three tries though he won 4 world championships.
Are athletes sometimes insufficiently modest for our sensibilities? Well, boxer Muhammad Ali ("I am the greatest)" and Olympic wrestler Alexandr Karelin (nicknamed the "scariest monster of all time") had confidence in their abilities. (Ali and Karelin were the Sonja Henies of their respective sports.

Kamila Valieva was scored higher in Skating Skills, that's undubitable. And I believe that she had more natural abilities. Now, as to what both delivered at Olympics...Malice towards none, charity for all.

I didn't mean that at all, I didn't even have her Olympic Free Skate in mind. I was speaking of her usual Components overscoring during two seasons, particularly the Olympic one. She was the Woman skater (there was also a Man in this case) who could have an ugly fall on an empty program yet get some 10s. She wasn't the only Woman very overscored, and I would say, Alexandra Trusova would usually meet a blind eye from the Technical Panel on her weaker jumps, but she worked a lot on her Skating Skills and Transitions in particular, and it was visible, yet she retained her reputation of "pure jumper"; whereas Kamila Valieva was hyped on Components which had been promising as a Novice and young Junior, but were reduced to extremely little in her Olympic year particularly.Kamila would have won individual gold easily with two performances as in the team event. She delivered at the Olympics. No question about that. The feeding frenzy that began just after the team event (as if it was orchestrated to the minute but we all know that was a coincidence because they told us

To focus back on our subject, I believe that Alexandra Trusova (and probably her parents) have long had a long-term competitive career vision, and that it's continuing.
