I totally get it. But I also suspect there's a bit of Lindsay Vonn mindset going on, too.
Lindsay is planning to ski on an injured ACL. And, dang, that's dangerous, but I think she realizes it's her last chance at the Olympics. I don't know if the US Ski Team has the gumption/ability to pull her against her will. Similarly, I don't think if there is ANY possible way, even if against doctors' recommendations, Deanna feels like she can do it, they'll be able to stop her.
If it's a case of life-threatening or severe permanent injury, then sure, I'm on the docs' side. If it's a case of something like "you could be out for the season" or even "this could end your competitive career" then in a case like Deanna, I think it should be HER call. I've said it before. Father Time is undefeated. This is, whether anyone is ready to admit it or not, almost certainly Deanna's only shot at being an Olympian.
