2025-2026 Canadian Figure Skating

Deanna was cleared for the Olympics, but she will check with her doctors about Worlds.

Lia and Trennt are going to discuss their plans after this season since these Olympics were their goal. I hope they do continue for next season.

Sorry neither of our teams had a storybook ending but they should feel proud overall. It sounds like Deanna is hurt worse than she let on? I hope Lia continues! Trennt has been competing for a long time but Lia is young and so talented. I hope they continue but understand they want to take a moment to decide.

Was Nova junior in last year and now out this year or am I mistaken ?
It was Nova Junior last season. NEXXICE Junior are coming off a win at Riga Amber Cup and did set a new Canadian record at Nationals, so I'm not surprised they're in over Nova Junior.

ok.. I didn't follow much this year because of Olympics... you know... it's been a crazy time especially that I watch ALL sports except maybe for biathlon (right now, I am not watching this sport but I used to love it LOL so I am not even consistent)

Slim pickings...

Wow looks like the women are bringing it so far. Alot of SB scores. Maddie had better bring it too or else she may not even make the free skate.

Wow last year at worlds she finished 6th in the short and here she does not even make the top 24. This has been such an up and down year for her but this has to be her worse result. Now wondering if this may be her last event this year. Can see her maybe not going to worlds to re- assess her plans for the future. I have always been routing for her but she seems to be a female Roman. It really might be the time to send someone else to worlds to get them out there and seen more, especially if Maddie is not planning to continue on after this year.

They haven't named the Worlds team yet.
Social media is brutal. Many are saying Maddie wasn't the right choice etc. I'm not so sure about that. She did well in the team event. All but one jump. I'm not surprised she didn't make it this time with such a packed field. You cannot have pops unless you have a triple Axel to make up some points. It is what it is. Safanova only did a double toe in the combo and didn't make it either...it's brutal out there. I feel sad for Maddie.

I'd give Gabby a chance though at this point. Just a gut feeling. I would also tell her to changer her LP combo.

I don't know why that would be the case. Far more likely that she'd be motivated to go to Worlds and try to end things on a higher note. It's not like she's injured or whatever.
I was going more on the fact that she has not had any great short programs this year. She may be motivated but the results do not look good. Her SB would not even put her close to the top 10. Guess I am just tried of her saying ...' next time I will be stronger', cause it hasn't happened. And even when she skated mostly clean, because of her being inconsistent the judges do not reward her. This year has been her worse for getting Q calls and once that starts ....

I've seen that social media, I get the feeling some of them were wanting something like this to happen. The other women had the chance to outskate her at Nationals and they didn't. Maddie earned the spot. And I think she earned that shot at Worlds.

Entries are due Tuesday, they can give Maddie a day and then talk it over with her. She may want to do Worlds or may not want to, I think it should be her choice.

If she's tired maybe she shouldn't go
I just think that it would be nice to have Gabby skate at worlds again. She worked very hard to get back but Maddie did earn the spot fair and square.
