2025-2026 Canadian Figure Skating

4th is cruel but what is awesome is how he fought as some of the landings were without much speed, yet he managed his combos.

this was an incredible performance considering he skated just after yuma.

Canada will have 2 spots next year and that's awesome

Imagine trying to explain to Canadian skating fans a year ago that we'd be feeling short changed with a 4th in the men's in 2026... :wonder2:

even better... imagine trying to explain to Canadian skating fans that Gogolev, after the miserable years he has had would rise and shine and place 5th and 4th at Olympics and worlds... without popping a single jump

Junior/Senior Men
We now have two spots for Senior Men. GoGo and I hope Romsky will go for another season. If not, Aleksa and Wesley will have a good opportunity. I wonder if Keegan will continue and maybe John Kim will shine next season too. Also, I recall @saine mentioning most of our junior boys are moving up to Seniors. At least they have something to strive for. As for Juniors, do we just have Grayson?

Junior/Senior Women
This is our worst category. Only one spot for both Juniors and Senior. For Senior, I wonder if Maddie will retire. Gabby is looking eager. Will SMD solidify the 3A? Will Fee Ann get more international exposure and shine more like she did at 4CC? Also, with Megan and Reese age eligible, will they get one international challenger event? Kaiya and Uliana too. Marie Maude finally surpassed 166, will she get an international event. I hope Minsol goes to JGP and then to 4CC and will she nab the lone Senior spot? I hope so. She is our biggest hope for the next Olympics.
As for Juniors, I can’t wait for Lia to debut. Victoria and Quinn too have good potential. However, the spots are limited in the JGP circuit

Junior/Senior Pairs
with three spots for Juniors and two spots for Seniors, we have lots of spots. Lia and Trentt were fantastic. I can’t wait to see how they will do this next Olympic cycle. Kelly Ann and Loucas had one bad event after three solid events. I hope they can finally breakthrough to top ten. They will have pressure from out top two juniors Ava and Yohnathan and Jazzy and K. Also, isn’t Fiona and Benjamin back on ice. They managed to nab a Grand Prix only to be injured this season. After watching Lia, something tells me Fiona is going to be eager next season. Also, the Japanese girl and Tristan should get a Challenger event too. As for Juniors, is Etienne and his partner going to stay in Juniors? They should. Also, I have no idea which pairs teams will step up to join them at JWC. Will we even be able to field all the spots we earned for JGP. I’m looking forward to Jacob/Briana and Stephen/Ava.

Junior/Senior Ice Dance
Like Pairs, 5 spots (2 in Juniors and 3 in Seniors). Are P&P even confirmed as retiring? LaLa…. I thought the torch would pass to these two. I worry about them just holding on to the top ten. Also, who will grab the two other spots? Will our Juniors move up to Seniors domestically? I have no idea who is moving up or staying.

I think that Landry has the greatest potential. When on, her jumps are textbook, and among the best in the world. The only jump related if concerned that has hampered her has been, besides the inconsistency, that she had no triple triple. However, with a triple flip-triple toe at four continents, it looks like that issue may finally be put to rest.

What she needs is better choreography and packaging. Send her to Benoit as fast as you can, skate canada! I'm not saying he's my favorite choreography, but I just think they should invest in her because if they can bring out her personality, she has all the other tools. People complained about her low marks this season, but in reality her choreography is very simple and empty. If you fix that, she could be a real threat at least nationally.

Yeah, that skate was... messy. I thought their scores were very fair considering what they put on the ice and at least one very noticeable error. Definitely listen to home run, but they still got silver, and it allows them to retain their Vincent moment from the Olympics.
Oddly I can’t find any replays of the performances

I don't see Messing continuing.

For Juniors, there's William too. He'll be the only other eligible man with the CTES going into next season. Hopefully he'll get his 3A stable, the other men too (I remember James C tried it out a few times too.) There should be lots of new faces on the NextGen team.

Veillon/Brandys are aging out, Kalaganis/Deveau age out if they don't split. As for the other Juniors, half the teams split since Nationals 😭 So lots of new teams incoming hopefully 🤞

I forgot about William Chan. Phew!! I hope he learns the 3A.
There are a lot of young juniors that competed in Novice. But, they have a long way to go…
Also, regarding GoGo!! I wonder if GoGo will try to add another quad to his arsenal to try to push himself to top 3. I’m going to have to search the archives to see what other quads he has practiced when he was so young.

Dance - I had no idea there were so many splits. I wonder if Veillon/Brandys can contend for a Senior Worlds spot for next season. Are the #2 and #3 junior dance teams from Nationals still together? I guess they will lead the newly formed juniors next season

Past Quadruple Jump Achievements
  • Early Prodigy: At 10 years old, videos surfaced of him landing quad salchows.
  • Youngest Quad Lutz: At age 13, he became the youngest skater and first Canadian to land a quadruple Lutz in competition.
  • Junior Grand Prix Success: In 2018, at age 13, he landed three quadruple jumps (including a 4Lz) to win gold at the ISU Junior Grand Prix in Bratislava.
  • Key Quads: Throughout his development, he has landed quad Salchow, quad toe loop, and quad Lutz.

Recent Performance and Technical Skills
  • 2026 Season: During the 2026 World Figure Skating Championships, he successfully landed a quad toe loop-triple toe loop combination.
  • Capacity: Reports from 2018 noted he was capable of training all five types of quads—flip, loop, toe loop, Lutz, and Salchow.
I guess the 4Lz comes after the 4S and 4T. I had no idea he was attempting 4S at ten years of age 😳
What a prodigy. Also, 4Lz at 13 😲

GoGo can really push towards 300 with an added quad like 4Lz and improved artistry. I didn’t realize how talented he was. I only got into figure skating the year he won JGP finals as a substitute.

he could do them all.
he was doing the quad loop in practice at the Olympics.

I don't want him to go for the quad lutz which he was the first Canadian to land as a young boy... I am worried for his back.

Veillon and Brandys are good but they are juniors in their speed and ice coverage. they will not be contenders yet.

Gogo won JGPF a long time ago. He was indeed amazing as a child prodigy at TCC. However, he grew so tall and had so many injuries that he lost his health and his consistency. I thought he was done with the sport when he had to w/d from Nationals a couple years ago.

He is super young. I am fine if he doesn't add to his arsenal to preserve his career. I could take top 5 -10 placements without medals for 10 years from him rather than seeing him destroy his back to get 300 one year.

There have been recent reports/videos on social media of him doing other quads in practice.

I'm actually probably the most optimistic about our women (and pairs). Reese Rose is aging into seniors and is working on a 3A and has apparently dealt with the cause of her inconsistency issues, SMD's 3A has been pretty decent this year and will hopefully continue to improve, Fee Ann finally got her 3+3 and will be a contender with some better choreo. I hope Kaiya and Uliana can continue their growth too. The women's international field is very tough but we have a lot of potential in Canada. Quinn, Lia, and Victoria have a lot of promise in juniors.
