On June 7, Cha Jun Hwan’s new agency Fantagio confirmed that the athlete was in talks to star in the upcoming tvN sitcom “Palace Land”.

I just watched the Men's freeskate from the 2022 Olympics when Jun was still with Brian Orser. OMG what a difference in his skating from then until now. He was passionate and committed and exciting to watch and seemed like he really, really wanted it. Lately I felt he's been phoning it in. Maybe he should just segue into acting.

The problem at 2022 Olympic Games is that he had been 23 months without skating at TCC and his skills had regressed, a better comparison would be with 2020 Four Continents, but he managed to overcome his training difficulties and become the Skater he's now.

If his skills regressed 23 months without TCC, then they definitely regressed 36 months without it...
That's what I was afraid of, but no! I wonder how much ice time he had during the COVID crisis too, and in which form.

 We could always let @noskates have their opinion that THEY think Cha isn't as good in 2026 as he was in 2022.

And I happen to agree. His programs, as one example, were worse, and his jumps looked worse off to my eye.

Well, we could also give Jun a break. He has had a lingering ankle injury and boots problems as well. Hard to focus on choreography and skating skills when you are barely able to train. So for me it's not about TCC or whatever but just the simple fact that he hasn't been healthy for long enough periods to polish his programs. You gotta invest where you will gain the most points, and quite frankly, why would he spend more time on the details when other skaters, much weaker than he is in terms of skating quality and presentation, get away with it ?

I agree.

But this is not even about the topic of this thread, so I'll leave it be.

I wish him the best of luck if he's hoping for a career change. He's very handsome, so that's a big plus for the industry he wants to get into.

He is, and he can dance and all, but I have read that the entertainment industry in Korea was frightening, so I do wish him the best, but I don't necessarily think that it would be there; I mean, on a permanent basis, and depending on it.

The level of physical beauty needed for young actors in Korea (and much of Asia) is unreal: Jun's fame gained from all the years as the country's top figure skater will hopefully give him a leg up (and of course, we don't know as yet how he will go as an adult actor.) I hope he succeeds and will be looking out for the show in all the usual places...
