2026-27 Grand Prix assignments are out

Jason and Jimmy Ma are competing again this season? Umm why exactly Jason is clearly past his prime and Jimmy is nearly as old and really wasn't a factor over the last four years even with the US men being weak other then Ilia.
I wouldn't be surprised if Jason wd from his GPs

That Jimmy got an assignment was a miracle - he is very low in the rankings...

It will be interesting to see how Mikhail Shaidrov comes out in his competitive skating since he has issues with money and his ability to train.
I wonder same thing about Junhwan and his other commitment to a drama . How will impact his competitive training ?
Along with others going to college or outside interest?
Will they be ready for the upcoming skating seasons?

Yes, and he was skipped for an assignment (almost everyone got one on the Alternate List!), I suspect he might have retired??
I see neither retirement nor injury announcement, very little recent in fact, but this doesn't look like either:

His own Instagram account doesn't look very active.

Very early assessment of the medalist in senior grand prix events based on personal best scores, season best scores, world standing, and season world rank.
this is if all the skaters show up.
i did men and women only
men
Ilia Malin. Shun Sato, Mikhail Shaidrov, Kao Muira, Adam Siao Him Fa, Alexandria Selevko, Kevin Amoz, Stephen Goglev, Matteo Rizzo, Kazuki Tomono, Junhwan Cha, Nike Egadze, Daniel Grassl , Jason. Brown, Lucas Bristchgi.

Women
Ami Naki, Yuna Aoki, Rion Sumiyoshi, Lara Naki Gutman, Sara Everhardt, Anastasiia Gubanova, Mao Shimada, Nina Petrokina, Isabeau Levito, Anna Pezzetta, Jia Shin , Sofia Samodelkina, Mone Chiba, Haein Lee , Cheyenne Kim, Rinka Watanbe, Alysa Liu, Amber Glenn, Young You.

All I did was do personal best scores 1st , 2nd 3rd per grand prix event see who medal . I did the same with season best scores, world standing and season world rank

The persons named above medal in at least one of them only a few medal in all 4 or 3.

For example Mao Shima finished 1st in her events for personal best scores , but 1st and 2nd for season. Best scores but finished out of medals in world standing and season. World rank . So I didn't list her for medalist in the world standing or season world rank. I listed who finished above her. In world standing and season. World rank Isabeau Levito, Nina Petrokina, Anna Pezzetta, and Sofia Samdolkina finished above her.
Mao Shimada finished a respected 6th and 7th in those categories
Alysa Liu finished 2nd in her event for personal best scores but finished 1st for season best scores. She finished 1st in both world standings and season. World rank

For the skaters assigned as of 6/21/2026 to senior grand prix :
26 men have the same personal best and season best scores ( I could be off by a couple)
23 women have the same personal best and season best scores (I could be off by a couple)

I wonder why France and China have remove 2 of their GP home spot in the Women field ?

Clemence Mayindu would have maybe like to have one spot in France.
And,
Xiangyi An and Yi Zhu would have maybe like to have one spot in China.
They formalized what had previously not been in the rules, but had been mentioned with the Finlandia Trophy host spots in the selection procedures (here).

On page 2:
A maximum of three (3) skaters/couples in each discipline from the host country may skate in the host country’s event. This includes skaters/couples from the host country from any of the categories 2 - 6 above. If a country chooses to not exercise its option for three (3) skaters/couples in any discipline from its own country, the remaining slot(s) must be filled from categories 5 and/or 6 above. If the host country plans to invite the maximum of three (3) skaters/couples per discipline, one (1) at least per discipline must be in the top 1 to 75 SB and have the minimum required GP points to be invited. In the case there are no skaters in the top 75 SB, two skaters maximum may be invited per discipline

Ruiyang Zhang is the only eligible Chinese woman in the top 75 SB. From my reading of the rule, they could have used the three spots since it requires only one to be top 75 SB. For France, Lorine Schild has two non-host spots. Lea Serna is in the top 75, but isn't competing. So France could use a maximum of two host spots, but opted for one.

Also they mention this on the first page:
Each entrant to the Grand Prix six events must meet a minimum total score, determined from the ISU Figure Skating World Championships 2026, earned at any ISU Event and the Challenger Series Competitions in 2025/26 or the current season 2026/27.

The minimum total score from ISU Events for this season is 3/5 of highest score per discipline at the ISU Figure Skating World Championships 2026:
Women: 142.97 Men: 197.64 Pairs: 137.00 Ice Dance: 138.49

Clemence Mayindu's SB is 139.75, so she didn't meet the required minimum score.

That also explains why Finland only has one host spot for men. None of the Finnish guys has the required minimum of 197.64.

Since very early. I am doing a very early work up of who would medal in women's

For high scores the medals and winners would be Japan and Korea most likely to get to gp final with USA 1 entry.

If I went by lowest high scores (190.00 or a 200.00 next lowest 180 next lowest a 170.00)
The usa would have 3 Japan 2 Georgia.
It is more of a mixed bag. That surprised me

Thanks

I wouldn't look at scores from the previous seasons when there are not going to be meaning anything with new rules this year.

I agree. It a starting point to see if the rules help or hurt them.
As far as inconsistent during season,
I wrote down all the scores during the skating season for each of the early name entries.
All the events they skated in from the Olympics to challenger to other international to junior world and grand prix and started comparative.
It isn't one skate but the many the skater did during season.
Put those scores in order from highest to lowest for each grand prix event plus their personal best.

I expect due to change the scores be lower .
