2026 NextGen - Skate Canada | July 16-19

Love the Florence program for Stella & Corentin. They are stronger skaters than the others but still with twizzle mishaps. Not sure they are a long-term match with each other.

I haven't watched yesterday's RD yet. Why are Anderson/Dawson so low down the scores ranking? They were one of the top teams last year.

Because they have an awful program and didn't skate it well.

Trigger warning : if you appreciate a real 3/4 waltz, do not watch the RDs from yesterday.

How can something be a waltz if it isn't in 3/4? 6/8 cannot be a waltz because it is compound time and ends up as equivalent to 2 beats in a bar. I suppose 9/8 would maybe work...

That was a very nice, if rather slow and careful tango for Annabelle & Rafael. The program and presentation are on track - the technical side is where the homework needs to be done.

Someone knocked on my door and I missed Charlie & Cayden - what did they skate too and was it good and or redemptive?

The judging panel is delivering many wake-up calls to the teams - which is part of the point here. I suspect, I hope that the awkward mistakes being made are because the season is very early and they are nervous, rather than lack of talent.
