Ok, it looks like P/B fell on their twizzles, that's a costly mistake, so the score is not that bad.
N/M's pattern must have been messy, judging by basic level and poor GOE.
Mullens also had a mistake on twizzles (not that big though).
C/R had the cleanest skate, all positive GOEs.

Shpilband's two U.S. teams earned the highest element scores of the event for Golden Waltz.
Pate/Bye were the only team to earn Level 2. Element score: 9.44
Cui/Rogers earned Level 1. Element score: 9.69.
Next highest GW scores: Mullens 8.20 and Luft/Fourati 6.70; both teams also earned Level 1 for GW.
Everyone else got Level Base for GW.
Thrilled for the Mullens!

Yes, they are, but they had a deduction. I figured it was a fall and when I saw the judges scores it confirmed that. So if they had skated clean they also would have done well. I will say that I also think they have peaked whereas Cui/Rogers are continuing to improve every competition.

I guess the Mullens were great with the pattern steps. The scores are still very close, especially on PCS between top four, with N/M and P/B rating slightly higher on skating skills than Cui/ Rogers and the Mullens. I'm not sure how Pate/ Bye receive the highest skating skills mark, though!
Artem and Leah (N/M) have the lowest mark of the top four for performance execution, so I wonder what's up there. I have to check protocols. It's really a testament to their huge talent that Cui/Rogers are so far ahead in TES! That's interesting because I think a great deal of their appeal is not just tech precision, but good execution combined with great emotional impact. With this lead in the RD, C/R should be able to solidify a win with their Sinners FD. I can't wait to experience it. 
I've been wondering since last season if perhaps they need a coaching change. Sometimes you've gone as far as you can with one coach, and it might be the case here. We'll see how the FD goes.
If it stays the same for this season anyways, considering they haven't published updates for it yet.

I personally feel there's no need for worry. They're still a developing team, and they're still very young. Leah's only 20, and Artem just turned 23. If you're a fan, that's great. I am, too. I feel they have a lot of untapped potential and a lot to look forward to. Regarding your mention that their scores went down in 2024-2025, I don't think that was a true reflection of their talent or their programs that season, which were very good. They should have been at least 2nd or 3rd at Lake Placid in 2024. (They didn't compete at LP in 2025). Also, in the fall of 2024, there was silly gossip swirling around of a personal nature, which had nothing to do with their skating. It's their family business when they got married. End of. I admire them for the graceful way they moved forward, ignoring that malicious nonsense. In any case, negativity can happen in a sport that has so much riding on perceptions. It's not what happens to you, it's how you respond to what happens, good or bad. N/M focused on the positives and they have kept working hard. They have a bright future.
See above. This is just the season debut performance for N/M and many other skaters. Obviously, the pattern steps are going to be a learning curve for everyone. N/M have a very good FD to The Phantom of the Opera, which was reportedly praised by U.S. fed's High Performance Director. So, we'll see what happens. Plus, let's remember that the U.S. is overflowing with talent in ice dance. It's difficult to manage that equitably. I would hope more fairness and equal opportunities to develop can begin to happen consistently. Quite often, favoritism has existed. Again, skaters have to work through the landscape that exists for them, and remain positive.
N/M have a very good coach in Elena Dostatni, and there's an experienced coaching support staff. WASA is a great place to train, with proximity to the Olympic Training Center, etc. N/M have a close bond with their coach, and she brings in other consultants and experts for workshops and additional training. Sometimes it just takes time and perseverance to rise through the ranks, no matter how talented you are. There are so many factors involved in building success. We all recognize IAM's dominance and influence in ice dance. Not everyone can go there; not everyone desires to, or would be accepted, or would automatically thrive, if accepted. We don't know what the future holds, a fact emphasized by all the surprising reconfigured partnerships this off-season. For the moment, I think N/M are doing well, meeting the struggle with courage and self-belief, while keeping their eyes on what's important and their passion burning solidly and intently.
Oh, I think they're a beautifully talented team. And I do think Elena is a good coach- they did win the JWC after all. Perhaps it's my perspective as an athlete in the sport I compete in, but sometimes you outgrow your situation. It doesn't make the situation bad, it just means maybe you've hit a plateau and need something different to get you to push in a different way. I'm not a fan of IAM, so that definitely wasn't my thought when I made that comment. It's just my perspective from my own athletic journey. If they prove me wrong and have a breakout year, I'm all for it! I'm also a music theatre geek, so bring on the POTO. I'm interested to see what cuts they chose!

Well, we'll know once protocols are published. It's not a result I expected, and I have never even heard about the winners of the event. Congratulations to them and hope that the others will work out the kinks soon.
The Mullens never seem to quite get the results in the FD. I don't think anything was really messed up per se.
Also, not one, but TWO extended lifts were the deductions for N/M. Kind of a bummer that that's a thing, because their lifts are glorious. Their OFTs and step sequence were not leveled very high, though GOE was decent on the steps. Not the outing they were hoping for, I'm sure, but sometimes it's good to get the first one out of the way, then regroup back at home.
