Mens' LP

Look at the scores!

Chan: TES 80,19 PCS 80,10
Chipeur: TES 80,71 PCS 64,10

What do you mean, how is the incredible difference of 16 points !!! (25 % !!!) in PCS to explain.

Is it a new scandal?

I don't think many people will complain about Vaughn's lower PCS - dude has a long way to go. He's getting better, but has a looooong way to go to be comparable to Chan.

Nobunari Oda

Warsaw Concerto

4t almost, but fall... i think rotated
3a-3t
circ steps slowish
3a big stepout
3f-3t
3lz
3lo
2a
last spin great! (why don't i remember the others?)

commentator noting that the program has been changed around, and lost choreo and transitions
a rather simple program that i think could be very appealing, if he had more spark to his skating... it's like almost there, but something missing or falling short.

145.25 -- 220.26 -- 4th

I am so proud of all the Canadian men! I am most impressed with Jeremy Ten...awesome skate and I just love seeing skaters so overjoyed with their marks! I believe Chan deserved to beat Evan, Evan did have one of his triple axels downgraded - I thought his quad was also suspect. Great competition! An off-hand note, I wish men would not wears gloves. It drives me absolutely crazy when they do!

Me too!!!! I'm so proud of the entire Canadian team!

Chan is better, no doubt. But no way with that difference.

I saw Chipeur at both GP competitions and he has no presentation. On the other hand Chan is great in presentation as well as few other skaters. So I am not surprised with so big difference.

Yea, I am.

No scandal. Vaughn is good, but Chan is just that much better. Vaughn's jumps are massive and gorgeous but he doesn't have that quality or finesse to his skating yet. If he works at it, he'll be able to raise those marks.

At least now Kozuka and Oda know that even if they are clean with a Quad - they won't overtake Superchan. Because Superchan got a whopping 10 points more on PCS. That's it boys, no chance!

IMO (and I'm sure a lot of others), yeah, he is.

Being a Chan fan I'm glad he won and did a pretty decent skate, and compared to the other skates tonight I think he deserved 160 points, but I also don't think it deserved to be the highest score of the season. 4CC is a bit of an inflated event so that kind of ruins it. But like I said. compared to the other skaters at this event, his score seemed reasonable. Compared to the other skates of the entire season, it doesn't.

Does Morozov have any idea on how to choreograph lyrical male skaters? Using that old chestnut, Warsaw Concerto, is so archaic and not for Nobunari. At least Morozov, if he has to stay with the music of yesteryear, he could have chosen Rach for Nobunari.

Btw, I do like Kozuka, but tonight I would have preferred Jeremy Ten or Chipeur in 3rd place. I gues if you are not in the last group, your scores will be kept down.

10 points more on severely flawed skates that had falls that severely disrupt the program and therefore the scores.

ETA I love the simple, understated costumes of the medalists and how they are all dark blue-ish - they must have called each other to coordinate.

so who are the top 5?

Chan
Evan
?
?
?

good job Evan. he held his own with the best!

I'm Canadian and all (though I try not to be biased), but I must say say that I found Chan's skating today to be really movingly beautiful. Yes, in a class of its own. Though I will rewatch without typing commentary....

Thanks amateur and everyone for the details, it was much appreciated with not being able to watch live.I wonder why French radio canada didnt show it this time? Is men's skating not as important to them?
