Mens' LP

249.19 is it a new world record?

Such a big score with popped axel? It looks like a bad jokes. I appreciate Patrick for his skating qualities but he doesn't deserve such big points.

4 Continents Championships is well know for extremely high scores. Takahashi himself (best skater due to world total score - he got this score at 4CC) said that 4CC score is hardly comparable with some others competitions and the fact that his score was bigger than Plushenko's didn't mean that his performance was really better.

Judges really wants Patrick to win Olympics. They show it everytime and everywhere. If Patrick will skate two awsome programs without any mistake and with 3axels and quad - well, he deserve Olympic title. But I will hardly disagree to see Olympic gold in hands of boy who makes many mistakes in his programs.

Thanks amateur and everyone for the details, it was much appreciated with not being able to watch live.I wonder why French radio canada didnt show it this time? Is men's skating not as important to them?

It was scheduled to be aired...I checked the schedule. I'm wondering if maybe it caught on to people watching it from outside Canada?

He made one mistake. Not doing a quad isn't a mistake. He did deserve it tonight. And his skating skills allow him not to need a quad to win.

10 points more on severely flawed skates that had falls that severely disrupt the program and therefore the scores.
Well, a pop and a hand-down aren't what I call clean either!

10 points people? What kind of message is that? It's not like Oda and Kozuka are two drunken camels on ice, barely squeezing out a powerful jump here and there. They are not KVDP, they are not Kevin Reynolds (whee, perhaps it has something to do with the first name...).

10 points is just a whole world, it's a Quad. The Quad Chan doesn't have and Oda + Kozuka work really hard on getting. 10 points, that's the second 3A that Chan pops / underrotates / falls on.

This will blow up in the ptb-faces.

Well, Dai landed two freaking Quads and two freaking Triple Axels! At least there was some kind of outstanding jumping ability in his program, when he got those huuuuge scores.

Probably he deserved to win here at 4CC but he didn't deserve to score 160 points with popped jump.

Does Morozov have any idea on how to choreograph lyrical male skaters?

Lori Nichol chosen the music and choreographed this program.

At least now Kozuka and Oda know that even if they are clean with a Quad - they won't overtake Superchan. Because Superchan got a whopping 10 points more on PCS. That's it boys, no chance!

We'll see how they score in other events. They both have scored very well without a quad.

Personally I think that the judges in this competition should be slowly sliced into a tiny bits with a rusty blade, but that's just me.

From what I've read, he made one mistake here. Sure he's made mistakes before in competitions, but he's been penalized as well. Did you see his score at GPF? IIRC, he skated absolute crap and was rewarded with crap points...but deservedly so.

I think we all know that 4CC tends to be an overscored event, so I think it's being a little repetitive to keep discussing it.

Kozuka messed up my formal. The GPF, EuroC, and 4CC men almost had 9 different men on the podium. The Men have true depth.
GPF
Abbott
Kozuka
Weir
Euros
Brian
Samuel
Kevin
4CC
Patrik
Evan
and Kozuka again

Oh no, mine was a neutral question, because I'm not good at remember all the numbers of the "Worlds records"

Chan is working on a quad. It's just not worth it to include yet.

And protocols are up. http://www.isuresults.com/results/fc2009/FC09_Men_FS_Scores.pdf

Evan's 4t counted but Nobu's didn't? And Evan's first 3A was downgraded.

Of the top 5 LP, 3 had downgraded jumps.

Who are you mad at? Had Patrick Chan gotten 10 points less on PCS he still would have won this thing...

At least Chan got positive GOE on his 1A-2T combo. You need to be rewarded for what you do. Even the randomn draw worked in his favour - on the Loop he got three times -1 GOE, but none of those got counted.

Hah! Kozuka's Quad didn't get downgraded! First time this season! He still fell - but no downgrade!

Of course. I am not interested in who won this thing. I am interested in the skates and how those skates are rewarded. And 10 points between Chan and Kozuka, Oda - that's just, I don't know, a joke? It says that Kozuka and Oda have to improve on something significantly. What is that? They have the best skating skills in the world, they are both musical, great jumping technique...

Can't wait to see this. Hope the lp for the men are put up quickly on youtube. Still a bit confused about the French radio canada site and if they are still showing this at some point.

so who are the top 5?

Chan
Evan
?
?
?

good job Evan. he held his own with the best!
Evan is not a has-been yet. He went through some bad time this GPs and Nats season, but here he showed top 5 quality.

as for Patrick, we all saw this coming since 2006.

^ btw, the 3 ?s above, will remain unknown for me. When you think of Oda, Abbott, Kozuka, Chipeur, J.Ten v. Joubert, Ponsero, Contesti, What a Worlds this will be!

Are you sure of it?

Well, take a look at Grand Prix Final.....he got total 205.16 points.....the 17th best season score....with two falls in short program and two falls in free skate. Are these high points really reflecting his bad skating in both of programs???
