I just deleted my message. I don't want to sound like I'm criticizing her body. It's just that I thought Yu-na was perfectly fit during 2007-2008 Grand Prix season. Hope she can get there by the Olympics.

Perfectly fit in 2007-2008.. Sure and then a month later she got injured again, and came to worlds hobbled and injured. That training regime certainly worked wonders.
Yu-na is healthy at worlds for the first time in her career. And it's not like she's not landing her jumps in practice.
Perhaps the extra weight is well helping with these matters.

Mao is a risk-taker and she is more a consistent FS-skater. Also, I think Mao would like to land a clean 3A at worlds, since she hasn't.
Some good skating in this SP
Yuna the clear and deserved winner, but I think something is wrong with a system that would give her an overwhelmingly, dominant lead with the skaters in 2-4 all skating as well as they did (minus Mao's 2 lz)
Bravo to Joannie, a deserved Personal Best score for that SP, whether you call the actual number generous or not.
My favourite of all was Miki Ando; would have liked to see her score a bit closer to Joannie's (or vice vesra).
Lovved some aspects of Mao's program the best, such as her last 2 spins - sublime! but I'd have her in 4th with a bit of a gap below Miki's score
Caro could debatably deserve her 5th place, but score should be closer to the pack, than to the leaders.
Fumie skated impressively well, and should be at the lead of the 6-11th pack IMO, and indeed *almost* would be there, if not for the time violation.. but still should be the clear leader of that group IMO, and in the final flight over a lackluster Lepisto.
Flatt on the other hand, should be on the lower end of that pack. I like Flatt, most definitely - but among other things, her spins are probably the weakest of that bunch.
Glebova turned in one of my favourite performances actually (maybe just because unexpected?); i wonder if PCS would be higher if she were in the final 2 warm-up groups, since the judges as it stand seemed to just automatically treat all of the final 2 flights as being in another tier, as they commonly do...
Czisny above Phaneuf has me scratching my head a bit, but they are really virtually tied anyway, and it's an interesting scenario to see who comes out ahead of those 2 in the LP; they skate quite similarly, really.
also the Polish girl who skated in the first half and qualified in 20th - Anna Jurkiewicz - I really liked her.

Wow. So THAT'S what an injury-free Yuna can do at Worlds! No wonder she was injured for the last 2 seasons yet still ended up with a bronze each time. She's just incredible, how come so much talent and technique and artistry is bundled into one single skater? AND she is beautiful, to boot...I have always been her fan but she just completely won me over.

Random thought, why are people so 
that Rachael Flatt made a tiny mistake in her SP? The commentators on Oxygen were going on and on about how that step out was sooo uncharacteristic of her. I mean, this isn't the first time she's struggled on 3-3 attempt... 4CC SP didn't go so well either, and well I guess I won't say anything about LP. Except that I'm curious to see the new Romantic Rhapsody. But really, I rather enjoyed her SP today. I love that music for her.

During the first few groups of the SP, there was a woman in the stands who came down and gave wrapped gifts and other things to a number of skaters. Does anyone know who she is and if she had any particular connection to the skaters? It's not important, but I was wondering...it was so nice to see such an outpouring of generosity and caring to skaters who were really here for the experience and just enjoyed being there. It was so great to see!

Yuna totally deserves the 1st place for sure. Her programs are very well choreographed and her jumps are so big and so clean. She really doesn't have a weakness in her skating.
Mao makes another mistake again in SP. I hope she realize why her PCS are lower than Joannie and Yuna. Her programs this year are not well choreographed and they do not showcase her strength at all. I hope she won't use the same programs again. She was much better with Artunian than Tarasova, to me anyway.
Joannie really should go for a 3-3, that's the only way she has a chance beating Yuna. I really love her skating. Her LP is much better so I am looking forward to it tomorrow.

I forgave her the mistake. I loved the program also. I thought Rachael was just wonderful. Look out for her next year.

I just saw Yu-na's SP on Youtube. I still think Yu-na could be fitter; she's carrying around extra flesh on her delicate frame and it makes her look not so elegant. I didn't think her performance was much different than at 4CC except that her step sequences were the best out of all her skates to this music. I think she's finally skating the steps sequences the way her choreographer visualized it and intended for her. IMHO, I think that's why she got that extra 3-4 points on top of 72-3 (what should have been). Her layback positions are unfortunate though.

Yu - Na looks fine and healthy.
I thought that Lepisto girl looked extremely frail. I could barely watch her.

Was she a large woman with a giant red and white Canadian flag shirt? I've seen THAT one at several competitions and have actually talked to her in person. :sheesh:

I just got home from my job up in Massachusetts. I missed the whole ladies' short; and in fact the whole competition so far. I was dissappointed, but not surprised at the U.S. ladies. I was hoping for much more.
