What a crazy night of skating. And I didn't even get to see it all!
DomShabs- IMO, the best we've seen from them in quite awhile. It looked as though they rearranged some of the choreography, but that just be because we haven't seen it in so long. Bravo to Maxim for his knees holding up through that.
Belbin/Agosto- I didn't get to see any of it until the end, and it looked a little sloppy to me. They also didn't get a very big reaction from the crowd, which I found interesting. But seeing Tanith get all emotional at the end there nearly made me a little weepy.
Virtue/Moir- Definite improvement over 4CC. I really enjoyed that. It was not as clean as I've come to expect them (in healthy standards) but for them to do that with so little training is remarkable.
Davis/White-I won't deny it, I'm guttted for them. Has the gap between 3rd and 4th ever been that close? I know it's been about .29 or something, but .04 is kinda ridiculous. And I didn't even get to see the entire thing!! But they had a wonderful reaction from the crowd, they were standing up practically before it was even over. Hopefully they continue to improve even more over this off-season.
Khokhlova/Novitski- Can you say major dumping? I was not expecting that at all, and it looked like they didn't either. But they didn't help themselves this week; the weird Paso, somewhat weak OD, and a kinda lackluster FD. It might just be me, but they also looked slower than the other teams in the top 6.
Pechalat/Bourzat- Again didn't get to see the whole thing, but loved what I saw!!
Just as a side note, on the whole I liked the construction of the Sphilband teams over Linichuk. I know I might be one of the few, but the Linichuk FDs just weren't as interesting to me. JMO.
