Plushenko will honour us with his presence in 2010!

musicality

Well, as far as I can remember Plushenko took some ballett lessons at the Marijnsky Theatre in St. Petersburg when he was still quite young (or got lessons from one of their teachers; I`m not quite sure about that) which houses the world famous Kirov Ballet. They actually asked him to give up skating and become a dancer because he was very talented, and he had to decide. Usually aspiring dancers would rob there on their knees just to get a place. They can chose the best. Therefore I can`t imagine him not having much artistry and musicality. Would mean that not only all the figure skating judges but also the ballet folks were completely wrong concerning him, and that seems to be a bit far fetched for me.

Always bringing up valuable points in my mind.

However this has lead me to watch some of the videos I have of him. I must say is is fantastic! A showman, a technical spectacle and *not knowing when to stop* can be a benefit as well sometimes lead to a raised eyebrow and scratching of the head. Quickly he regains my respect for I watch and see. simple he is fantastic.

Hi SeaniBu - I am just giving my views on the skating I see. There are probably other tapes of Evgeni doing some other than comic exhibitions that I have not seen. (I do not swoon over the one with the violin player.) He does know how to work the young audience with his ability to sell his programs. I believe stopping and posing is part of that salesmanship. It does work but not for me.

As to his competititve skating, he is quite formidable with all those jumps and the wild antics of his step sequences.

Again I agree, what works for some... and some work and some do not. i.m.o. Personally I would have had more like for this particular "showing" if the "baby" aspect of it was played without the crib and the repetitive use of silly behavior. Being more true to a baby and less of the mannerisms of a drunk. He did not do a good job acting like an infant, as well the silly pee humor is just so adolescent and fits into the "farts are funny" sense of humor I personally find mundane and demeaning. Why poop, pee and farts are funny is just ... well .... dumb i.m.o.

I just can't see why anyone would want to do this that has such powerful skill. Plushy is sharp and can't see this as a good choice to entertain.

Fantastic I will say again about his talent. I would rather watch Johnny or Evan and like them better, yet he is one great skater.

One of my favs is not funny and is not with Marton, is the Queen number he skated in Coi,but i dont have a vid.
Why you distinguish 'young' audience from 'old' or "elder"?Where is the difference to win them? And where is the limit of age for the young audience 10, 20, 30, 40?In the shows i ve seen the audience was not so young, I would say the opposite.
oh, the baby sexbomb thing..it was just a stupid tv new year show, that i wish youtube had banned it my now

Yeah, concerning that program and Yagudin's weird thing back then - is it possible that it's also a different take on humour? A cultural difference?

I visited Ice Symphony in April (Russian show, Averbukh organises it) and there were several numbers that weren't as bad as Plushenko's baby number or Yagudin's stuff back then - but they were also quite childish (for the lack of an impartial expression) but the audience (95% of them were Russians living in Germany) seemed to enjoy those numbers immensely.

Ouch, ouch... Killed my knee with my desk. I am so clumsy.

you must not quote small tiny letters, there are not supposed to be seen
I went to Golden Stradivari on April and thanx god there was not anything like that, some acrobat numbers only , but thats it... Things that didnt hurt my eyes.
good point medusa, but in which culture babysex bomb and banana numbers are funny?:sheesh:
be careful not to wake up your medusa puppet on the shell:p

whose voice is it?

Does he really sing in that add??? Quote from kingonice:

Q: Igor told he had a dream: you sing a song composed by him and he skates instead of you. By the way you have such an experience – in the Chupa Chups commercial...

Evgeni: Francly speaking I have no voice, I’m a very bad singer. It’s something terrible and awful. So when I was told I had to sing in a commercial... Well, I did, evertything was ok. Having come back from the USA I saw the video and couldn’t get why there is me on the display but the voice belongs to Misha Yuzhny!

Original interview from www.dni.ru (don`t know if it`s still there)

until now i thought plushy was singing there, it sounded like his voice:laugh:

new video from estonia, plushy on the beginning and after 2nd minute again.
I heard tango music on the background...:disapp: anyway Glebova speaks also and Urbas who says about the difficulty of finding ice in the summer and that he went there and to moscow for his new program.
Plush, Mishin and the trainers I have no idea what they re saying.
Next Mishin's camp is in Pinzolo.

If any of these 'talents' expect a Broadway debut, they had better prove that they can sing, dance, and act just to get into the chorus.

i m with you krudy!
I try to understand that Tango Amor gives courage or the sense of security to Plushy. But frankly, it gives me the blues when compare Tango with other top skater's music for Olympics :disapp: However already I don't have any hope that he's helped by power of music at international competitions. I'm ready to Tango :indiff:

Maybe Plushy needs better and more inventive choreo?

Just erase the "maybe", and you`ve got it perfectly. :p No matter how often I watch this programme I just can`t warm to it, especially when compared to some of Zhenya`s older programmes. The music is not too bad, although I could do without Marton for a change, but the choreo is - up to now - outright awful. How Evgeni is supposed to beat Chan and all the others with this programme completely escapes me. I am not sure if he can`t still outjump his opponents the way he was able to... Evgeni`s remark concerning "public demand" gave me the giggles as well: suppose us fans would readily pay him for NOT performing Tango.

I think we have to accept that guys like Joubert, Plushenko and Weir are old men who can't seem to be able to change their ways anymore. And it's not like Weir and Joubert weren't punished for it, Plushenko will be too.

Give Johnny some credit.
Yeah, well. I believe diversity when I see it. After the 07/08 he also said that he wanted really creative programs, that he wants to work with ballet dancers etc. That never happened and his programs were like ladies' programs.

At least Joubert is exciting to watch with his massive jumps, the quads etc. - despite rather generic programs.
