Plushenko will honour us with his presence in 2010!

Because of the skate in Moscow there are hundreds of articles about Plush, but most of them say the same or go around the same interview, so here is a little bit of everything.

Plushenko: if I win bronze in Vancouver, I'll be happy

Turin Olympic champion-2006 in figure skating Evgeni Plushenko said that at the Olympics in Vancouver, he will be happy with a bronze medal.

"I understand that I will fight for victory, I'll do anything for gold, but I do not understand why I am I supposed to get the medal with more value! I was not in the sport two and a half years! Can you imagine what is like? Fans come up to me and say "Evgeni, we are here for you, and we will cheer for you but promise that you will win Olympics!". I haven't promise than to anyone and I won't. There are many good skaters in the world, my goal is simple, to skate a good program by its own. And if it turns out to be a bronze medal, that I won fairly, that I will be happy. Especially because then I will have my full Olympic kit. silver in 2002, gold in 2006 and bronze in 2010."

"SP": - And if you fail to win in Vancouver at least a bronze medal, you will not regret that you decided to come back?
- When I started to think about coming back, many people said to me: "Evgeni, what are you coming back for? You can compete in Vancouver and lose the
title. But I am not afraid of it, and I'm just not afraid. Moreover, none will take Olympic gold from me, I've have already gone down in history. And by coming back, I can only win, and it does not have to be with a medal, but just for the fact that I came back, and that's already a victory. My personal victory!

Evgeni Plushenko: "Five or six people could actually fight for medals in Vancouver"

Russia figure skater Evgeni Plushenko told about who he can compete with at the Olympics-2010 in Vancouver.

"It's a very difficult question. Take for example Joubert, who made in the short program a quadruple jump with mistakes and they put him in first place, which is surprising. Or Lysacek, who rotates half a turn of his triple axel on the ice, which is also considered a mistake, but he gets good marks.

Patrick Chan is good, but he does not jump quadruples. Takahashi can also be in the fight, I skate with him in a tour in Japan and he did an fabulous program, he has added stability ...

Who else? Well, probably, Lambiel. He is great in steps, in spins, but without a triple axel, which he has problems with, it will be hard. We all have drawbacks and, of course, a lot of pluses. Therefore it is very difficult to predict anything.

I think the judges will look at the situation. They won't take into account our skaters, they still have to skate more. By the way, I like Italian Contesti very much, he is a good athlete, easy and unpredictable. So we can be to wait for some surprises. Five or six people can really claim the gold"- quoted Plushenko Novye Izvestiya.

 Leave it to Plushy to add some drama.

LOL:biggrin: at his comments about Joubert and Lysacek.. Soo true:laugh:

I tend to agree with what he says about the other guys too. He should consider Takahashi a bigger threat though. He's the only one with the complete package..

Yes, because Plushy was never placed first when he made mistakes. Ever! It didn't happen. :rolleye: It was kind of funny, though, certainly nothing out of line, and I prefer his honesty to boring by the book answers.

Takahashi is not the only one who can do everything. Leaving aside the other skaters on that list, Tomas Verner, if he ever gets himself sorted out mentally, can beat all of them.

That's a huge IF you are using for Verner. IMO, consistency is part of the "whole package" in competitive Figure Skating and Tomas fails miserably in that department. At this moment I'd say he's only in dark horse status going into Vancouver.

Dai doesn't do much better in that regard. One medal at Worlds out of four times - with his talent? While in the two seasons before his injury he was fairly consistent, I don't think his results always match with his abilities as a skater. Tomas is admittedly a much bigger headcase (and has no medals at Worlds) but if we're looking for consistency, that would be Joubert (in terms of results) and Lysacek. Plushenko is right, there are a lot of contenders this year. But he's wrong to overlook Tomas.

Anyone does much better than Verner  And you just said it.. Daisuke's inconsistency problems were much improved during this quadrennial. Tomas instead seems going backwards popping/dubling jumps right and left and out of nowhere in all his programs, even when he won the European Title. While is still unseen how healthy Takahashi is this season after injury, on paper I believe he's the best "all around" skater at this moment. And I dont think no one has ever denied Brian and Evan (and Plushenko too, we can never count him out) are the kings of consistency these days.

In terms of talent and pachage Ponsero has plenty BUT..
I m glad Plush approaches the Olys like I have nothing to lose, and I think he passses that to the fans (i hope ) who desperately want the Gold . Although i think he is pretty upset when he doesnt do well, I think he might be upset if he doesnt skate good but not if he does but still lose a medal.
lol Plushy started the drama! too many interviews, I just read Joubys also, I dont want talking, lets the show begin!

Medusa can you make me a plushy banner?I m in love with the new one of lambiel AGAIN!
:o

To arrange a trip to Moscow is like arranging a trip to the moon for me..or even worse..learning to cook. If I knew it from beginning I would watch from tv.:scowl:
People are great and helpful but it is because I m a student and they need guarantee, and we have a tone of papers to arrange and convince them that we dont want to stay forever and will be back after Rostel and a couple of vodkas.
In the papers I need to fulfill also why I go. Is it enough to write
1. To cheer for Kozuka, Weir and Plushy and see what's all this hyp about Chan
2. To cheer in case Plush kicks Chan's *
or I have to find a more sophisticated reason???:sheesh:

Euros

Senorita, you won`t go to Tallin then???

Medusa, I thoroughly agree with your comment concerning the elections. Sigh!!!:scowl:

I think those are excellent reasons. Why would anyone require more? Of course, if you go over to the dark side, our friendship will be at an end .

How come you never write anymore?

Off topic completely, LOL!
I m ready to appreciate Chan and his program but I dont think I ll go to the dark side, that goes with Joub's case as well:biggrin:
Medusa Yes! what???:laugh::laugh::laugh:
no results yet, cause Greece's elections is on this Sunday so I m still here, although the two leading parties are the same crap.
I go to Tallinn probably, much easier, I dont need a visa there, it is in the middle of winter exams but i ll manage:p

B I spent a weekend to read for uni, search how I ask an invitation to russia, book the GP tickets in russian language:unsure: (that was the frustrating part cause we booked them and before I put credit card they said, congradulations, your reservation is done, you can pick them up within two days from Moscow office, thank you:eek:) Tickets do not sell abroad, if you dont know anyone in Russia dont book, LOL! And then finally I also booked TEB, I ll write all back today:biggrin:
I ll try to find someone in russian embassy who is a Plushy fan to make my life easier:think:

As always, spot on... :)
And he doesn't underestimate anyone, he simply states their strong and weak points. Isn't that reasonable and honest?

I think the competition will be FIERCE, to put it mildly...

Welcome back Plushy:clap:

Plushenko got 3 points bonus for 4-3 :)

I read the rules about bonuses, so:
3 points - for 4-3
2 points - for single quad or 4-2
1 point - for 3A-3
