Nothing much to add except my support of Evgeni, as always , though I must admit this thread puts a smile on my face & at times makes me LOL!

One of my late brother's favorite movies was The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly with Clint Eastwood (he was a massive Clint Eastwood Fan; owned all of his videos, et al). And I must say I too loved this movie, especially the humorous scenes between all three, makes me want to go & look for the video & put it on tonight. Seriously, the music, the characters, and the acting was exceptional. For anyone that hasn't seen this movie I highly recommend it ~ classic!

Lol, after watching Clint Eastwood's classic The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly last night, I have to say the following male skaters are my own personal interpretation of each character (btw keep in mind said skaters are the elite/the class of the field, the quad kings, so no disrespect meant to each, rather tongue-in-cheek ):

The Good -- of course Blondie can only be Evgeni Plushenko (cool, calm, with a steady hand & a half smile on his face).

The Bad -- Stephane Lambiel (aka Angel Eyes ), ready to duel, complete with killer black hat & sleek dangerous demeanor, not quite yet on Blondie's level, but willing to do anything to get there.

The Ugly -- lol, digging for gold, or should I say mining for gold, whatever the case, in my humble opinion Brian Joubert fits the bill. He is Tuco personified, scrappy, shifty-eyed, waiting for the other two to mess up so he can take it all!

Confirms that Plush will participate in Russian Nationals

A few days ago, President Figure Skating Federation of Russia (FFKR) Valentin Piseev, announced the names of those athletes who definitely go to Vancouver, despite on the results of the national championship. Name Evgeni Plushenko in this list, of course, there were. Why then, after that, and with health problems, he still performe in St. Petersburg, explained Alexei Mishin.

"Evgeni and I, have quite clear position: for the Olympic Games should be selected. We need to get there in on the sport principle, on the basis of success or failure in this season, and not by accumulation of past achievements.
I can not say, that training progress as we wanted. There are great difficulties. But we try hard to perform good on the Championship of Russia ", - said Alexey.

and that he wont try anything extreme in this competition

"Now what happens is a specific and detailed preparation for the Championship of Russia. We work only on those elements, which he can already physically perform across a week at a tournament in St. Petersburg. To fulfill the unique cascades, we are not so far planning. Mishin indicated the combos Plush. has been doing in practice with some success:

3 axel/4 toe and...well... 4 toe/3 sal?? (that's what i read).

It was stated that he won't perform these unique combo jumps at nationals.... I hope he attempts one of them in a major competition before he retires again.

I don't think that would be a combo, it would be a sequence and won't make sense regarding the 20% point loss it would suffer. Maybe it's 3 sal/4 toe? Cos as i understand it, to be able to put a 4T in the second part of the combo, you need to come out very clean and fast from the first jump so 4T+4T is very very difficult to realize.

But, the 4+4 jumps will be very hard to get ratified especially the jump he wants to do here is 4T+4L, and even more since technical callers downgrade jumps remotely short when it comes to loop jumps

Just to clarify, I was referring to the 4T+3S, not the 3A+4T, the latter obviously would be a combo not a sequence..
4T+4L is insane, only plushy could attempt such a thing but Im sure the tech caller would press his nose against his screen while scrutinizing that 4L so it would be very difficult to get it ratified indeed..

Maybe salcow and and lutz but have never landed them successfully in his prime in international competitions so I doubt they meant 4t-4l!

I agree with you on all the points you mentioned, but we are talking about Plushenko. And 4t+4t and 3A+4t will make three 4t in a program and hence violation of Zayak rule. he surely needs some other quad jump than 4t for 4+4 combo.

Prospects of someone jumps 3A+4T and 4+4 combination are exhilarating, but i would sincerely hope he doesn't do it. He can clearly do 4T+3T, 4T, 3A+2, 3A in this LP and get enough edge over rest of the pack to win the gold or at least a medal.

No I meant he would try either 3a-4t or 4t-4t, not both in a program! I dont know if Plushy has another quad safe, but isnt it a little late to start experimenting with new quad jumps?Once upon a time he was landing salcow and lutz as I said but that was like 2002-2003, a long time ago!
I dont think he intends to have a 3quad program!
But I was wondering, if he doesnt have any other quad, whats the use of doing a 4t-4t together anyway?
