Plushenko will honour us with his presence in 2010!

well I think he doesnt drink as a process of him getting in amateurs form cause he decided to comeback to competitions, he had promised mishin back in 2006 not to drink anything for a year or more and same now;) I guess he can drink with measure out of that, I mean it is not bad, we all do, he is also human:p. He can be young and restless:rock:
I dont know if he smokes, i did not see him, but I only also saw him in practices and in competition and one night at hotel, we did not follow the skaters any other time and I think I said why. I ve never heard anything about him smoking, I hope he doesnt anyway cause of his lungs.
In the unfortunate meeting of me with all the smoking room in airport:laugh:, he was not in there!
Schiele i just saw your mail, thanx for patience!I m replying now!

I wish Plushenko's people read this board. I hope they could make Plushenko change some of his arm movements in both his SP and LP. Who is this choreographer? Fire him! Didn't Plushenko completely change his LP in the late season in 2001-2002? He got Olympic silver that year. Maybe he can do it again. Use a more attractive music and choreography.

^ I don't think Plushenko needs to worry about choreography and arm movements. His athletic ability puts him on a different plane from all the other guys, who must sweat and strain to land their jumps.

Plushenko is an athlete who just happened to take up figure skating. The other guys are skaters who are trying the best they can to be athletes. (IMHO :) )

Well in 2002 he had changed his program from gpf till Olympics, not two weeks before. lol!
I dont think I want him to change his long, i wasn't hot about it in the beginning and even at COR but after Euros I changed my mind. He enjoys it and you can totally see it. He sells it and if you are inside the arena he radiates plushvibes all over. His confidence reach the upper balcony and I m trying to be as objective as I can(hardly:P)The program works the crowd and starts from slow music and at the end sounds like explosion, it is repetitive and people start clapping from the middle till the end. I think it is clever constructed to have small pauses in the music. The back to back jumps are a bit..hmm...in the beginning, but Plush knows what works for him, so I m ok. I also saw in Russian Nationals that if he has trouble he is capable of adding them at the second half, so I m thinking he is having too many backup plans.

Now I m thinking of it, Evgeni has said he wanted to skate to a tango all his career and now he is not so anxious for result he wants to have fun. He must be programming his comeback the last two years, cause this music, different in many parts but still this music, he has tried it to his euro tour and I m thinking it was also crowd pleasing, I remember golden skate awards that he blew the people off their seats, i just didnt know he would use this kind as a program in competition.
To me he looked relaxed this time in long. In the short i was worried and music didnt help me at all, in the long i sat back and was watching :p (popcorn smilie)

he also said after euros that he has changed the music 30 times and thanx marton for his patience with him.:laugh:I remember godfather was altered like 40 times to marton's frustration. Maybe plush doesnt try new choreographers or composers cause he likes to work with longtime friends, at least that he has said it.
I can think of some movements he can forget, but me most of the time I like his arms and his extension. And i think it is his signature as the waving hair, it is Plushy all over.

Lol anyway
plush was asked about his injury
Yes, Europeans was the first competition since my comeback and I had no pain. I didn’t have to care about how to place my legs to avoid pain. We have changed the system of the practice as well, I used to jump 10-12 quads, now I have just three or four per session and I don’t care if I land them.

Well put! Even though he'll never be one of my very favs, I find Plushenko exciting enough to watch because his athletic ability is just so much higher than everyone else.

I also think he has good carriage across the ice that makes up a little for his lack of artistry. I like the way he holds his upper body. It's very controlled and even balletic (when he not thrashing around like he's possessed, of course.)

I know it's OK. I know he'll get the gold if he skates clean. It's just that I am so frustrated that people constently compare one of the boys with him, and use his arm movements as the evidence.

Believe me, Seniorita, it radiated over the ocean to me. But I wish there is some way that he could bring that old 2002, 2003 Plushenko arms back. I know he could. So I blame his choreography.

I am ok with his LP. I like the music and I think he skates to the music more than he does in the SP (in other words he doesn't skate to the music at all in SP). His LP is classic Plushy style since 2004, which I've always enjoyed and frankly I don't care much if there are little transitions cos he sells the LP and it works with his style. So I don't think transitions alone don't matter much, for instance Chan's skating with all his transitions is a bore to me.
I think it's the SP which is nothing short of a disaster in my taste. Going back to classical Aranjuez just made it worse. I wish he would work on the SP and maybe change it completely.

Ditto! Couldn't have said it better myself. He's an excellent athlete.

I got nothing? :frown::scratch::no:

Mathman
Well he plays football, he plays tennis, he doesnt have Johnny's arms but he is not Stojko. I think he was to be a figure skater. Or something that requires height and leg strength. He is too tall for gymnastics. Eitherwise with his body type he could have been a dancer. :p I could totally pay for it.

Carmen was one of the best for me but Plush is 8 years older now.(god i m 8 years older now too?) I seriously cannot care less to what he skates, it is probably the last time i see him in competition and i m totally enjoying it. In Lp, he passed me the feeling hey i m back, I want to come and play with the boys so I hope, I hope I can watch Olympics without getting frustrated for any result. Saying this and while he said he will accept with gratitude any result, he will fight for gold, no doubt.

In the sp, hmm...I dont know what to say. I dont like Arranguez in general. God Pfeiffer's program ...arranguez in figure skating should be used only by Michelle Kwan. I think if it was not Plushy and his super dooper aura I would go for a drink. Since it was Plushenko I stayed and watched. I liked the Bang end, and some steps in the beginning of his footwork, but I think he will change the music ( i mean the cuts) again. There is not a single competition this year (even the tiny ones in russia) that he has kept the music same.LOL! I almost prefer the version of Marton..I dunno.

Has board changed completely or it is me watching it in google chrome???

I got nothing?

cause I forgot to send it?:o

I definetely prefer the Marton version now.. I am very very fond of Marton's music anyway so maybe I'm biased.
I thought Rochette's Aranjuez last year was very very very good :love::love: Actually it was the main reason why I started to like her so much.. But this year, it's too much aranjuez. My god, don't remind me of Pfeiffer, I was lucky to be at home so i could occupy myself with housework..

I'm totally lost in these new visuals.. But I don't like how the new smiley faces look like now.. (see the one below)

Got it.. :):):)

PS: Plushy's Carmen LP.. :bow::bow:

what should i do with my sig, i want a new one but run out of inspiration, where is medusa when you need her? Big problems, as big as Johhny and his fur.
If you are to change the emoticons, that will be nice for me f5c52ad3f90d4398fb68f050802ee205.gif
And this could be appreciated by Ant 2e04b9d2c59a9b3ce69bdddfe8c1e34b.gif
And that would be the moto in plushy thread the day after Olys (including Ant) abb387377ea159c30b6e6d8ee6cb4d2b.gif

Speaking of which: guess who won't be doing a quad in Vancouver? (sorry if this has already been posted elsewhere). So it turns out that it's not so easy to focus on footwork and spins when there's a quad in the program! ;) Well, I do appreciate his being honest and admitting it.

As for Plushenko's music, could he be talked into doing a CoP version of Nijinsky?

Chan no quad??? I m shocked, SHOCKED, i didnt see this coming.
As for Plush he had an interview after sp i think that he said something like I dont get the marks in transitions between me and Joub, actually i dont have any, i need to set up for the quad. LOL. He dragged Joubert to it also *bad boy Plushy:p* which he shouldnt but LOL in any case. I cracked up. The king started firing. This interview was a bit bitter as he spoke about the media trashing him and his comeback in previous years. Apart from that it was fun cause he said he likes paintball and he seemed in a good path mentally about his possibilities in Vancouver.

Nijjnsky??Ah...:love:I dont think Plushy would change anything in three weeks heading to Vancouver, Pissiev had an interview and he said evgeni got the feedback from europeans and he will focus to upgrade his footwork and faster his spins plus adding some steps in there.

Well, suprise suprise! At least he behaves wisely unlike the team who insisted on the wrong jump layout for too long only to be awaken after the results in Euros. :):)
Besides, what possessed him to think he needs it anyway? He has level fours everywhere, great GOE, gets massive PCS.. It's not like he cares much how he is perceived (otherwise he would've followed a much more political route).. He should focus on getting those 2 axels consistent, that's all. I'm pretty certain a clean Chan is more than capable of medalling in Vancouver.Besides, I have seen no "transitional" skater apart from Abbott to be able to land a quad and keep his style and flow.
A CoP version of Nijinsky? That's a good idea. I can also take a CoP version of Carmen..

I didn't understand the comment Seniorita.. He said he should be scoring lower than Joubert or why does Joubert have higher transition marks than him although they both have none? Cos there's only little difference between him and Joubert on those marks and that difference can easily be justified as Joubert has more transitions this season and more than Plushy at the moment.
On the other hand, I can understand his bitterness. I was personally not happy with the amount of critism and ridicule he received after his announcement about his comeback, I can't imagine what he must have felt.

he said something like he doesnt know all the new rules yet and he tries to see how the new judging sees him coming back, and he said that how Joub for example had more transitions marks in sp. Then he said I have none, i need to focus on my quad as Joubert also. He said judges wanted a rivarly and voila, they got it. He was not in any sort of trashing mode but well...he sounded bitter than usual and ...i will find the interview, i have read like a gazillion these days.

Me, too! Everytime Aranjuez comes on I can only think of Michelle Kwan and no one ever lives up to that. But I like Plushenko. When you think of past comeback attempts it's astonishing that he could come back after 4 years and be the gold medal favorite. It's almost like he so damn good he doesn't have to play the CoP game and I kinda like that.

Lol, yes, like seniorita, I do wish there were more emoticons to choose from. ;) Still, as long as this new format helps GS not to stall up, et al, I'm all for it!

Regards Evgeni, this is another beauty is in the eye of the beholder for me because I honestly think his SP is a masterpiece. I'm not just saying that either, I *mean* it! I like it even moreso than his LP.

Also, I don't think Evgeni is an athlete that chose skating, nope, skating chose him. He is both an artist & an athlete, just his style is more bravura than most, which I totally appreciate. Not all skaters can pull off this style (e.g. my equally favorite Mao Asada is trying to do so this season, but her style is more lyrical, yet I applaud her for stepping outside her comfort zone!). The only one who can both BOTH, I mean really do both (master in both styles), is Oksana Baiul. JMHO.

:love::love::love::love:GOOOOOO EVGENI (spasiba) !!!!:love::love::love::love:

lets put some positive energy here cause I m scared with the nightmare podiums

Kristi Yamaguchi's Olympics preview

...
International competitors who could dominate:

”..But the real intriguing story is the comeback of Evgeni Plushenko of Russia. He was the gold winner in 2006, but hasn’t really competed much since. Then, a month ago, he appeared at a major international event called the Rostelecom Cup and blew everyone else out of the water. It’s amazing to be away from world competition for so long and then dominate. He could be better than ever.”
She speaks also about american ice dance, yuna and lysacek.
I like when big skaters speak nice about the next generations.:)

Plush post euros interview, it comes from a video from training. Thanx Ximena from translation.

"None expected me to skate well and none wanted it. Plushenko's name was no longer interesting on the figure skating world. In America, figure skating business is falling, in Canada too, in Europe so-so. After the 2006 Olympics there were so many projects in every channel and skating became very popular. A lot of shows appeared, and why? Because at the Olympics we got three gold medals and one bronze, and that result wasn't share with any other country, so of course all the countries want to see their athletes on the podium so they could be some business from it. It's normal."

Does the audience should wait for a new jump combination at the Olympics? Plushenko thinks that he needs to what he already showed at the European Championships. "But we need to finish working on the step sequence and make better transitions. That's right now the most important thing. All that I know what to do, do it from here to the Olympic Games. from my training to the Olympic Games", - he stressed.

At the Olympics, most of his rivals will come from Japan and America. Evgeni Plushenko does not hide the fact that he monitors the performances of his competitors on the other side of the ocean.

"Of course, I watch them all. I know how they all skate, it's not the first time I'm watching them skate and I have perform with them before. They are very promising athletes and there are 10 athletes from around the world that could claim places at the podium. They are Canadians, Americans, Japanese, a Swiss and a Frenchman...Two Frenchmen. Therefore, all of them will be ready, everyone will fight for it. But my goal is not skate with them,is not compete against them, my goal is just to make my elements planned."
I think he thinks ponsero will go to olys (he has talked about him before as a big rival) or he finds amodio a threat for podium?

So you see, no crazy jump combo for olympics.. He'll go clean and he'll wipe everybody out.. :)
I'm not sure about the two frenchman part either.. Amadio could be a threat for the podium if he had more experience in the international arena and more consistency but at this stage, naming him is a bit pointless so maybe he thought of Ponsero.
