Has Nicole Bobek been sentenced?

Anyone hear? I thought she was supposed to be sentenced last week.

I heard that she was sentenced to 4 years but I cannot confirm that.

I haven't heard any news about Nicole's sentence - only that she pleaded guilty and that her sentencing hearing was scheduled for August 5th.

Don't you have your trial and then are sentanced a while later, like weeks or even a month??? If sentenced wouldn't we know what that was right now??? Anybody know???

Found this article. Not sure if it's new. I believe so.

Prosecutors say Nicole Bobek will not receive prison time. They will instead ask for a penalty of less than a year in the county jail.

Nicole may have assisted law enforcement with information ... or, it may be jail overcrowding (I don't know how crowded the NJ jails might be) Either explanation applies to others facing similar charges.

She received 5 years probation, and if she misses a single visit or fails a drug test, she will be in jail for the full 5 years.

She says she is working on her GED, and is working with Special Olympians for her community service requirement.

Yes, Nicole entered a plea of guilty for distributing/selling of meth. Her 5 year sentence was NOT for using but for dealing and being part of the distribution ring.
She got off with a very light sentence considering the prosecutors were asking for one year in jail and four years of probation.



Hopefully she can turn her life around.

There is a debate going on over at FSUniverse over whether she actually sold any meth. The article seems to indicate she did not.

Nicole had a plea bargain. Truth is often the first casualty not only of war, but of plea bargains. Her elocution will reflect what activities were needed to justify both the charge and the sentence. NJ has mandoratory minimum sentences for some offenses and used to have even more of them. In other states, such mandatory minimum sentences often are triggered by the actual amount of drug either in the person's possession, or which they sold. Relying on Nicole's elocution for the exact amount sold is probably not warranted.

Someone from NJ, and/or who is knowledgeable in NJ law, could expand on this.
