U.S. Figure Skating reprimands, fines Rachael Flatt

Actually, from my experience, the 1st week isn't that bad. It's usually the 2nd or 3rd week when the first dates come up, but I suppose it depends on the department/school, too.
You did engineering at a reputed engineering school? ;)

I sure did!

(Not at the Ivy League level, though.)
Damn, homie! First week wasn't so bad but I knew I was in for it.

Then I was in for it. LOL

And no, Ivy League isn't what it's about. Lots of rigorous, great engineering programs are in schools which aren't part of the Ivy League. Stanford Engineering happens to be a great engineering school as part of the Ivy League, is all.

HAHA! I swear. It seems alright at first, one can handle it without much fuss...then BAM!

That's how my optimism tricked me, too. I felt the same way, but I felt the pressure building up even in the first week. Then the sugar hit the fan. :)

Whether you like Rachael or not, she's NEWS. Look at the # of pages in this thread. It has twice as many pages as Ashley and Caroline thread.

You're absolutely right.

To be honest with ya, if it were Nagasu or Wagner that this happened to, instead of Flatt- this would have been JUST AS BIG a deal. It's not about Flatt so much as it is about the action that USFS took- which came to many people as a surprise.

You need a girl with a lot of detractors to make a long thread.

Well, I glad she's over it. Perhaps prettykeys is right; they fined her a symbolic $1 and that was that. ;)

I think rachael is like Debi Thomas. The work is gonna actually make her skating even better.

Perhaps we'll see her in an article like this (Lol, yes. The article was written by Hersh):

"I always looked at Dick Button (Harvard) and Tenley Albright (Harvard) and Debi Thomas (Stanford),'' she said. "You emulate them.''

Albright and Thomas are medical doctors. Kwan was made an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters last year at Southern Vermont College, where she delivered the commencement address.

And then she will look back and laugh because she will be smarter than most of us.

Yes, smarter than all of us in her field of study anyway. And she will gain street smarts with the passage of time. This too shall pass if it already hasn't. A little publicity for figure skating minute as it is in the overall scheme of things in the middle of June. Not bad. :)

what is the Ivy League?:)

Here are the Ivy League schools.

Note that Stanford is not an Ivy League school.

•Cornell University is located in Ithaca, New York. It has an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 13,500 students.

•Dartmouth College is located in Hanover, New Hampshire. It has an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 4,100 students.

•Harvard University is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. It has an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 6,700 students.

•Princeton University is located in Princeton, New Jersey. It has an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 4,600 students.

•The University of Pennsylvania is located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It has an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 10,100 students.

•Yale University is located in New Haven, Connecticut. It has an undergraduate enrollment of approximately 5,200 students.

When I was in college back in the day, the ivy that covered the walls of the oldest buildings were infested with ants. Every year they had to take all the ivy down, kill the ants, and then re-train the ivy up the walls. :)
