2013 Worlds Ladies FS

By the way, I watched this competition with my mother who knows nothing about figure skating. She absolutely LOVED Yu-na and Li, admired Gracie and Kaetlyn - said they have outstanding skills, flow, personality and so on:)
ahah)we argued a little about Adelina and Tukt - she said their skating is very laboured and hard to watch..interesting. I'm biased:) and she isn't. never thought about it..

Mother knows best.

I really don't know how carolina managed to skate that program! she said to the press that she was seeing blood all over the ice surfice and was scared! she fought to the end...I'm proud of her!
Happy for mao! I love her! It's good to see her back on the worlds podium!

Yuna is not my cup of tea but she really deserved it...this was actually one of the few times I enjoyed her...still less than mao and of course carolina! Her programs is below carolina's bolero in terms of choreography....but technically she was perfect!

Imagine what a shot in the arm this is going to be for Gracie's confidence. Now she KNOWS she can go out on the international stage and give a performance that does her proud. She's not quite World medalist material yet, but if she stays on this path she'll be there soon. Finally, she's starting to live up to the hype and it should take a LOT of pressure off of her.

And Ashley, well, she did what she came here to do and got some serious personal vindication. Amazing that she was able to do so well after being injured during the latter half of the season. Here's to being healthy next year and kicking some serious butt!

Astonishing that we actually had the podium people thought most plausible. Even more that it contains the same three skaters as 2008. And with so many newer skaters delivering some sensational skates..... love it.

And just like 2008 Kostner is 2nd when she should be 4th, with a Japanese lady in 4th who should be 2nd. ;)

This was a better performance from Kostner than what she did in 2008, though. I'm glad to see how much better she is getting her nerves together later in her career. But it still wasn't enough.

Adelina's skating skills are fine. But Tukt has no skills.

I TOTALLY ECHO THIS SENTIMENT  :agree: GS did a great job with this site and keeping it running...and with a night like this figure skating can grow again

Is there a minimum score that one will need to obtain in order to compete at the Olympics, or was that just for Worlds? I'm guessing not since the spots were already earned, but I'm not sure. That would be the only thing holding back Korea's #2 and #3, but they should be fine. Yuna must be so proud and pleased at what she's been able to accomplish for them.

I'm pretty sure Haejin Kim and Soyoun Park have the WC minimum score from the JGP this season

Best competition of the event :)
But just a question; how did Gracie Gold get plus GOE on her Lutz-Toe combination?

Patrick will never have close to the legacy or respect level in the sport Kim has. Kim is Michelle Kwan and Alexei Yagudin and Patrick is Annett Poetzsch and Evan Lysacek.

no, he will be remembered as the champion with the highest number of falls. That is something.

I can see Blades' point of view on this. I'm not buying into the Carolina hype. Nor the judges' overscoring of her PCS and underpenalizing her errors compared to other skaters'.
