Ladies Free Skating - 2013 Trophée Eric Bompard

Rochette should easily win the nationals if she competes o.O

If only she would though I completely respect her decision not to. She doesn't owe anybody anything. I just miss her. I have good hopes for Osmond but it's going to be awhile before she can really accomplish anything. It took Rochette two Olympic quads (counting from her national senior debut in 2002) before she became a real medal contender. I would suspect IF Osmond were to even get close to those accomplishments it would take as long.

But that is all off topic.

CBC only showed Lacoste and the medalists so I'm going to have to go to Youtube to catch the rest. I was saddened to see Gao's results. :(

thrilled ? Sotnikova has still not won a gold medal
and could not beat a worn out Wagner with a two footed 3-3 and flip errors

Sorry sky_fly, I forgot to use my sarcasm tag.

<sarcasm>I'm sure Sky_fly is thrilled for Adelina...</sarcasm> :p

Wagner just kicked some butt, won her 2nd TEB gold medal and earned a trip to the GPF. I'm starting to wonder if you are aware what the phrase "worn out" means b/c the context in which you use it never makes any sense.:sarcasm: You sound a little delusional when you insist Ashley is worn out and yet she continues to put out strong performances, score higher, win medals and cement herself as the undisputed #1 for the US women.

I think sky is still peeved that Ashley gave a public statement of support for homosexuals at the US Media Summit and is taking it out on her by insulting her body.

Looking at the protocols, it seems a bit harsh that Anna P got a < on the 1Lo on her 3Lo-1Lo-3S sequence, which undoubtedly affected her GOE on the element.

I'm so sad that there will be just 2 girls going to the Olympics:cry: I wish Russia got 3 spots:cry::cry::cry:
I fully agree, esp. with the last sentence. But isn't it ironic that the two ladies who lost the third spot are now probably those who suffer most from that mistake?

I really don't understand how anyone can underrotate half loop

I think Adelina should do two 2A+3T.

The second double toe or loop that sotnikova left out because her 3 jump combo is based off the flip as well as no 3/3 cost her the win. Shouldve done anything for that 3 jump combo and a did 3/3 or replaced a flip with Flutz and do Flutz-2-2.

I don't understand how they call a 1/2 loop as < either. They did the same thing to Elena R...it seems ridiculous.

As for Anna, I don't think the < on the loop is what hurt the GOE. The 3L wasn't landed as well as it could have been and the combo was really slow. I do think it's amazing how well she rotates with such little speed or height.

Sigh... What does Adelina have to do to make you guys happy? She just landed 3 flips in a row and still everyone is ragging on her stupidity or whatever. Was she really that bad when you watched her with the sound turned on, or is it just fashionable to hate her these days?

Well, she was under by at least a 1/4. It's still possible to under-rotate a single jump.

While we're on the subject of 1/2 loop combinations, has anyone ever tried a 1/2 loop with an extra rotation? What would that be called? A double half loop? A loop and a half? A 1 1/2 loop? The ISU should bring back the bonus for unusual elements so we could see someone try it.

Just seems weird I guess.

I was against Adelina doing all of those flips but at least this competition was proof that she is capable of executing them. I still think it's an unstable jump for her but if she can start landing them consistently like she did here, I will have nothing to say about it.

I'm not a huge fan of her FS but I do think it has some nice moments. She did a very good job of really feeling the music and projecting throughout her performance. You could see how happy she was to get through all of those jumps cleanly. It's rare to see her skate with such freedom in the FS b/c she usually looks nervous...I thought she was wonderful today and I actually enjoyed her performance.

I've always said if Adelina ever gets herself together she will be a tough cookie to beat. She is the only one of the newer girls who can compete in terms of PCS. She was right on Ashley's heels... Yu-Na, Carolina and Mao are in one category, Akiko, Ashley and now Adelina are in that 2nd tier category of PCS. That's a huge deal and if Adelina can find some consistency with her jumps those numbers will go even higher. She's a beautiful skater and I think her scores are very much deserved...

Baby steps. I'm sure it's her goal to work up to that content. Maybe this clean skate will help her gain some confidence and by the time she reaches nationals and (hopefully) the Olympics, she'll be more confident and be able to add that content in.

I got the sense that Adelina is happier about skating clean more than anything else. That silver medal probably feels like gold b/c of the way she earned it.

Wow they really misquoted Anna. I like that Anna is competitive but she's not to young to know sportsmanship. Also to improve you have to be aware of your deficiencies and I'm not sure she knows that. If she did I think she would understand why she's not better than a clean enough Adelina...imo.

It was the right call. And that sequence was quite poorly executed anyway.

They call it as < when it's underrotated more than 1/4 just like with any other jump.

It would probably be called 2Lo (although the panel would be challenged since it's not explicitly mention in the rules :D).

She hasn't done anything that would be 'unsportmanly' (if that is even a word ;)). Why do you assume that she doesn't understand why she's not better than a clean enough Sotnikova? If you read interviews with Pogorilaya, she seems to realise what level she is at.

Agree. The coaches of those girls sometimes go to the press to cry about competitions and I think the girls think is Ok. Sorry Anna, but Adelina has better presentation and skating skills than you do.
