Yuzuru Hanyu: 2013-14 Season

I kinda think the same thing. I don’t believe his English is still so bad that he cannot basically communicate with people (bits and pieces, hands and feet, usually you find a way). But I'd totally understand it if he was just very hesitant to give interviews in English.
As I understand it, the kid is super articulate in Japanese. It's not just what he says (which, as we know, can be ridiculously well thought-out) but it's also very much about how he says it. I just feel like... I dunno, I get why he wouldn’t want to answer questions if he was unsure about how to express himself in a language he has not fully mastered. Especially since he is so used to being able to express himself in words (Am I making any sense?).
It's like people on the internet stating under their posts "sorry for my English, it's not good" or something like that. That's not a bad thing, but I get why it would make you feel insecure. And now imagine that you don't just post something anonymously on the internet but that there's somebody sticking a camera in your face, asking stupid questions and expecting you to give some uber-intelligent answers for who knows how many people to hear... I probably wouldn't even call for an interpreter, I'd just run

Yes, you're right. And I also want to say since he's getting much more famous than before, there are some haters waiting for him to make mistakes. That's why he needs to be careful. He can handle it in Japanese, but he's still not comfortable with English. I think it's good for him to be careful in case some people misunderstand him.

Nanami's words, like a farewell benediction. By then she must have known Yuzuru was leaving for Canada.

Whenever I watch this video, tears and joys are always at same time. Yuzu indeed gets the warmest blessing from Ms Nanami.

Actually, Nanami’s husband Yoshida is still maintaining Yuzu’s skating shoes whenever he comes back to Sandai. The trusted story between them was reported in newspaper and TV program after Sochi Olympics.

In the program, Yoshida said he could read how hard Yuzu works from the usage of blades.

I am glad to see Nanami couple supporting Yuzu in various ways. Their close relationship would be lasting forever.

Ps.
(1)Yoshida’s store name is “NICE”. Is it just “coincidence” with the World 2012?
(2) my ID is “echotpe”, tpe is an abbreviation of Taipei, the city I live now.:)

Hello, littlexflower.
I don't remember who supported Maxim at this WC, but his coaches are Tarasova(the former coach of Mao, Weir, Yagudin..Ten - just in case you didn't know/forgot it) and Buyanova(Vodorezova) - she mentors to Sotnikova as well.
I've never happened to read any comments from Buyanova regarding Yuzuru, as for Tarasova - she commented the Sochi's SP broadcast, I can't recall what exactly she was saying about Yuzu since it was too long ago for my poor memory, but she was very warm towards him and deeply impressed.

After the free skate, though, she said there was no one who deserved to be named an Olympic gold medalist, comparing to Yagudin at Salt Lake '02(honestly, she refers to Alexey almost always when she's interviewed no matter what a context is  ;)) and Denis Ten was the only one worth mentioning("and if he'd been in the last warm-up, he could have won the competition").
That's it.
Tarasova is everything but warm towards Yuzuru. She said he didn't deserve the bronze medal in WC 2012 because her favorite Jourbert was placed 4th. She threw vicious looks towards Kim Yuna when she was still Mao's coach. Tarasova is the scary godmother and I bet she was extremely furious when another kid of Orser win another OGM and WC. Believe me, Tarasova is nice to her students only. :slink:

Thank God JFS sent Yuzuru to Canada, because if Plushenko had agreed to coach Yuzuru, he would be the more visible target of Tarasova. Russian coaches see Yuzuru as the biggest threat to their skaters. Cause as we know it, Tarasova would only accept talents that she herself coaches. If she said anything warm toward Yuzuru in interview, then she was faking it. :rolleye:

I think Yuzuru's English will improve. Actually his struggles with English make him human considering how excellent he is in so many ways.

I hope he will eventually master English. I noticed how he was looking at Patrick when Patrick switched easily from English to French when Patrick spoke on behalf of all the skaters at the Sochi Olympics gala and Yuzuru's expression was like, "I wish I can also do that."

Meoima, well, I had the same impression, so I was kinda surprised during the SP, but her later comments revealed that her attitude hasn't changed for the better.

Back then when Yuzuru was still just a 17 kid who jumped out of no where, amazed the judges and audience in Nice, she had already made vicious comments about him. I don't believe she has changed that much. Seriously, she dislikes all the skaters that beat her students, Mishin and Plushenko know it best. I just hope she retired already. She has gone senile.:sarcasm:

You know that, I am glad Plushenko got the slot at Sochi instead of Kovtun. Because if it were Kovtun, Then Kovtun would have been the gold medalist there. You know how they scored Russian skaters in Sochi. I am sure Tarasova were extremely furious for that, but it's Kovtun's fault for not doing well at world 2013. Even an injured Hanyu got the 4th place, while Kovtun, not injured or ill, was not even in top 10.:slink:

He also can´t cook....
Neither can I  (seriously, it would be safer to let a monkey into the kitchen. but I'm excellent at cooking hot water and making frozen pizza). Considering that he doesn't seem to like eating very much and they actually had to work on his diet, why would he care about cooking (kinda good to know there are still things where he doesn't feel the need to excel :p )

There was this amazing gifset of Tatiana Tarasova trying to "psych" Yuna Kim out during the Vancouver SP, and then Brian Orser "getting right back at" Tarasova during the LP.

My apologies echotpe for misspelling your ID and thank you again for sharing with us precious videos about Yuzuru. Nanami and Yoshida are two reasons why Yuzuru's heart will always be with Sendai. Skates are to a skater as an instrument is to a musician, so he obviously trusts Yoshida very much. I was wondering whether it was Yoshida's NICE shop where Yuzuru ran to and cried after bidding people at the Sendai skating rink good-bye and telling them he will be leaving. Looking at the video, he certainly feels at home there.

Tarasova is everything but warm towards Yuzuru. She said he didn't deserve the bronze medal in WC 2012 because her favorite Jourbert was placed 4th. She threw vicious looks towards Kim Yuna when she was still Mao's coach. Tarasova is the scary godmother and I bet she was extremely furious when Orser's children win another OGM and WC. Believe me, Tarasova is nice to her students only. :slink:

Tatiana Tarasova should take care not to slight the Golden Boy of Japanese figure skating or else she will be not be getting choreography or training contracts from Japan ;). On another note, I read she cried tears of joy at the redemptive, amazing Sochi FS of Mao (a former student). Re Plushenko, I posted before he should mentor Kovtun, not Yuzuru, especially on becoming a better competitor, but we all know that isn't likely to happen.

He also can´t cook....

Yes that too :).

Yes, she cried for Mao only when Mao was not the threat to her Sonitkova anymore. I've heard she casted Mao aside when she got Sonitkova. Not sure about that but I am not surprised if it really happened. :slink:

If they had asked Tarasova, instead of Plushenko, to coach Yuzuru, maybe she would have accepted. And we would likely to hear Tarasova bla bla bla all the best things about the golden boy.

On a side not, Plushenko dislikes Kovtun so It's impossible to him to coach Kovtun. Frankly, Kovtun has a not-easy-to-like vibe, I suppose. :p

His title of the national champ was enough to represent Russia in Sochi instead of Plushenko, but you know, I don't want to bring this topic up - there was an explosion in Russia after Plushenko left the competition and it lasted for a month, I'm just so sick of discussing it and I don't really care for Kovtun :slink:

Best way to learn how to cook http://www.pinterest.com/search/pins/?q=easy recipes (believe me I have great reviews at parties)

I made the point about cooking because that was one of the reasons for his mother went whit him to Canada (and his health) ;).
And since his diet is so specific is nice to be able to cook by yourself

Thanks for this very touching information! I knew Yoshida is the techincian helping Yuzu, but I have never thought he's Nanami's husband!

Just like when Patrick stood on highest podium with the gold medal around his neck in Nice 2012, the way Yuzu looked at Chan's medal... :p

There was this amazing gifset of Tatiana Tarasova trying to "psych" Yuna Kim out during the Vancouver SP, and then Brian Orser "getting right back at" Tarasova during the LP.

I saw it and found it quite amusing, and the captions were spot on ("coaches trolling"). Brian Orser I think is laid-back (Yuzuru said Coach Orser uses "gentle words" to him), so it's good to know he can be as combative as TT on behalf of his students.

Waiting for this picture since the pictures of the Worlds banquet came out, thanks! Misha's jacket is uhm...very floral. :) Yuzuru of course in his usual dark suit.

Awwwww I hate the witch-mama-Tarasova too...... She's so mean to other skaters. I know she's good as a skater and a coach but not really likable in person.

On a side not, Plushenko dislikes Kovtun so It's impossible to him to coach Kovtun. Frankly, Kovtun has a not-easy-to-like vibe, I suppose.

Apart from the Russian mafia godmother, I think Yuzu is quite a lovable young skater among the veterans. Plushy is not actually a all-time Mr nice guy to everyone (yeah he dislike Kovtun), but he consistently shows his fav to Yuzu with no hesitation.;)
