Yuzuru Hanyu: 2013-14 Season

【News】How B. Orser will guide Yuzu

http://www.asahi.com/articles/DA3S11090554.html
Speaking of choreographer, Orser thinks Yuzu is still young and adaptive. Before finding out the most proper program just like the James Bond of Yuna Kim, there should be tried in various ways.

What a novel Pericles !! maybe we'll have an ACDC heavy metal music SP to continue to hide bad posture and to allow Yuzu's arms to be graciously throwned everywhere but at least we won't have a R&J#3 for sure, it's already a big relief!!!

Hopefully Orser will focus on 4S too in the third season finally and people will stop complaining about it, now that his OGM student eventually knows where to stay on the blades !!

I just hope they will not get "fantastic" idea of downgrading a bv for quad jumps, as few ppl are crying of too many quads
That would be a very bad idea and a step back to the sport.A quad takes a lot more energy from a skater than a triple,so I'm all for high risk high reward
But I do think the judges should deduct more points for falling. My idea for men: -3 for the first fall,-5 for second,-7 for third and so on,in this case no one who's having a meltdown could win gold.So basicaly the skater would lose 6 points over a jump which would make skaters who do the jumps for rotations( like Yuzu' 4S) think twice before putting it in the program. But if you apply this to most triples, the skater would recieve nothing,he would even get deducted more than the BV which doesn't sound right so maybe they should deduct less from triples

I agree with more downgrades on the falls. Anyways, our kiddo look absolutely lost/bored in the Garden Party, poor him: http://a-m-n-o-s.tumblr.com/post/83077380699

I think he is annoyed.

About the rules I won´t pretend to know a lot about judging in figure skating but the idea of Ryusa5 is one that maybe should be take in to consideration. I wouldn´t go as far as deducting -7 that will be way too much.

I don´t think Yuzuru or any skater for that matter puts a jump because of the rotation, as we all have seem he can land the jump is just that as Jeremy Abbott would say is hard to be in competition.

Well we can do nothing worring about it, I certanly would like to know if there is a draft for the new rules, them we could have a better discussion about.

I think it would be a bit too much . BV for quad is 10.30, if someone will rotate it and then fall he is receiving 7 points + -1 for falling , so only 6 points for the jump. I think cutting 7 points to 6, so at the end it would be only 5 points for rotated quad with fall, I think that would be fair enough.

Yuzu 4S is hard subject I think. It is up to him to decide if he wants or not. I am sure they would be able to adjust jump layout with two 4T to the level of BV that he have currently. With his 4T perfection I think he would be able to do it at the beginning of 2nd half program and his program would be then more consistent without 4S, but I admire him that he is not giving up 4S and I hope it will reward for him next season with consistent 4S (when he hits 4S right in practice it is just as beatifull as his quad toe )

I think this quote sums up his situation:

“I can be surrounded by a sea of people and still feel all alone.....”

ps. if anyone knows who said that line, you deserve an A+...for remembering hahahaha (hint: it's in a cheesy movie- oh goodness a very cheesy movie)

I think you can see it live although I don't know how yet. Did anyone see Mao's live?

All succeed jumps that can give him more points is useful ! I hope we will have a video of that. Doublemeat, can you give me links of where you take information ?

^Ah ok. Sigh! As I've posted before, the organizers should have been prepared for Yuzuru pulling a "stunt" like this one and had a video camera ready to record it for us fans, I mean for posterity. :)

^OK, I've been on record wanting Yuzuru to take it easy in these ice shows to save his body wear and tear, but as he's been attempting (and succeeding in) these 4Lo jumps, now I want a quad Lo battle between him and Javier (read in another thread Javier has also been practicing them) if there's still more exhibitions to come. ;)

It's Yuzu's habit to practice quad on ice shows. He said once that doing a quad on ice show is more difficult than on the training or competition. So it really helps to improve the stability of quads.

^Yes, Yuzuru is unique as most skaters, as Nobunari once commented, would take it easy in exhibitions. Practicing quads under the klieg lights in exhibitions makes sense as there is only a limited number of competitions per season to stabilize one's quad if one hasn't done so before. The flip side is if Yuzuru continuously wipes out on his quad attempts, he will precisely be accused of "just" using the ice shows as practice. Glad he has succeeded enough times to keep both himself and the ice show ticketholders happy.

What kind of event is this? And isn´t it the same day as Yuzuru´s victory parade in Sendai?

Thanks for the news
