Any news about Junior girls FS?

There is a very scarce information based on hearsay (from fsonline.ru)
Medvedeva skated faultless, other girls had occasional falls and/or stepouts.
FS music titles can be peeked on another thread.

I read in a recent interview that Sotskova pulled her groin and was having growth issues. Is this why she is jumping poorly.

The only complaint I've ever held over Medvedeva was a lack of speed. At JWC this seemed to be resolving itself. I hope she continues down this path and keeps her speed up. Of the Russian coaches I communicate with they all think she is the future of Russia.

BTW: Thank you AlexRus  I was hoping you would find this thread and we could have a more centralized place to discuss these issues. Your insight is appreciated

First of all, thank you all for the info  About Medvedeva, I already really liked her in the past: more than Sakhanovich because her positions and technique were better and actually as much as Sotskova; the only aspect that made me prefer Sotskova last year was that Maria's programs were stylistically more interesting (as I've already said, especially the Vivaldi SP for me). I do think Medvedeva is probably the one with best chances out of the current Junior top4 (Sakhanovich, Proklova, Medvedeva, Sotskova) especially because she's always been coached by Tutberidze, and her skaters never seem to be affected by injuries or growth spurts for a long time (think about Lipnitskaya or Shelepen for example), it's probably because of how her team deals with them... Anything about Medvedeva's FS music?

I would disagree. Proklova is faster, more explosive jumper, way more flexible and better spins.

First off, thanks to AlexRus!! So excited to see the test skates.

Re: Medvedeva: I've seen people describe her as "weak" and I've never understood that. I think she's adorable! Her jumps look solid to me and other than her speed which, like you said, looked improved at JWC, I think she has what it takes to shine this season.

I'm really interested to see what happens on the JGP. Last season none of the Russians emerged as "the one to beat." They traded off gold medals all season with no one person really dominating. It will be interesting to see if one of them pulls ahead of the pack this year.

THANK YOU so much for this insight !! :)
And yes, as for potential only I also prefer Proklova. As said before, incredible speed, Lipnitskaya-spins as for flexibility and speed in them, just better connection to the music and way more expressive.

But that's only my opinion, and I agree that Medvedeva is further developed right now.

How's the oldest one of those who participated there btw? Maria?

What I said about Medvedeva was based mainly on the consideration that she seems (again, as most of Tutberidze's skaters) the best at skating clean and consistent, Proklova seems to be more an up-and-down skaters, wonderful when she delivers but capable of bombing, too. However, she's my favourite among these girls if we consider the artistic part, her ballet SP last year was absolutely :love:

For me it is
1.Sakhanovich,
2. Proklova
3. Medvedeva
4. sotskova

But each of them has different strengths and weaknesses, so it is so much about personal taste and personal preferences. I think the most successful will be the one who will become most consistent. Judges like that and reward it.

That's interesting. As of the end of last season, Medvedeeva was obviously the weakest of the 4 with the weakest basics and smallest jumps. I don't think her coach is that great of a "basics" coach. Personal preference aside, I thought Proklova was the strongest overall skater (great presentation, strong jumps, speed and basics), even if not as consistent. But at this stage of their career, it's too early to crown anyone the consistency queen anyway.

Sorry if this has already been brought up, but will Sotskova be skating? She and Sakhanovich are my favorites of the young Russians.... (if I'm not mixing anyone up....)

I think, the reason why some people view Medvedeva as weak is her posture. She herself said that her mum send her to skate because she had really bas posture, meaning she tends to hunch her shoulders forward and such, which makes it appear like she's cowering.
Now, that was also the reason why I viewed her like this as for physical appearance but she really corected it lately:thumbsup: :)

^ It's not her posture as much as her basics that makes me think she is weaker. At one of the early JGPs last season where I saw her and Sotskova go head to head for the first time, it was immediately obviously to me that Maria was the stronger basic skater from the blade down. Sakhanovich and Proklova both have very strong basics, and Proklova and Sotskova both have much stronger jump technique, whereas Medeeveda's jumps make me wonder whether they'll survive puberty.
