Russian Test Skates 2014

She is not an insider. She is press secretary of RusFed.
So it is not an inside, rather official position of Federation.

I meant insider like somebody who saw Test Skate for live.

But if she is an official member of Fed, than her comments should have some value, no?....but what value if she talks about beauty of the couple (in any meaning you can imagine, maybe she mainly liked Katya's flower in hair), if she says that she doesn't look at technique (Alba already noticed her opinion above) and what to think if she points only some couples and not even mention other couples?
It makes all more confused then clear.

Official info about Open Test Skate http://fsrussia.ru/news/191-figuristy-sbornoj-rossii-pokazhut-novye-programmy.html
06 Sep - Katok.ru.
07 Sep - UOR-4, ice rink "Mechta" (name of ice rink means "Dream").
Both at 15:00 Moscow time.
List of skaters will be soon.

As I know it will be for free. I am sure that some people will make videos, there is only a question how much good quality video it will be (high quality videos from first rows are needed to see edges and at least some details in choreo and technique to make some real meanings).

I think we'll have to wait competitions for that in tv.

Too bad we don't have much info other than one journalist, who have no idea about ice dance technique :disapp: I understand edges and diffuculty (turns, closeness) could be trouble for new viewers but at least she should have spot speed, ice covarage. That is easy. Being a ice dance fan, I don't understand how one can watch a short/free dance without noticed those things. Puff I should be in there

Bobrova's hair looks good by the way:agree:

While American and Canadian skaters are able to skate full programs at competitions in August, Russian couples are making maquettes in September and are making many mistakes at Grand Prix circuit.

That is way of russian ice dancing, even in olympic year. Last year both Davis/White and Virtue/Moir skated their programs very early, I believe August. Russian free dances are not ready even in September Open Skates.:confused2:

Very cool! Please share the videos if you find them. Spasibo bolshoe, sisinka :)

Do I understand rightly that any person from the street can come and see this skates?

No I think it's Open in the sense that the press can attend. No press apart from Ermolina who works directly for the Fed were at the one yesterday & last week. That's why I would take Vaitsekhovaskaya's comments as just musing & speculation - she hasn't seen the programs fully yet.

Thanks to quiqie we have a summary of Vaitsekhovskaya article:
http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/ind...mmer-to-autumn-2014.92797/page-9#post-4317242

I'm putting the whole text because it's short but really interesting.

She rates the most interesting event of the upcoming season:

Cup of China – because of Lipnitskaya, Tuktamysheva, Kovtun, Ilinykh/Zhiganshin and Bazarova/Deputat. Volosozhar/Trankov are not so interesting «because it's clear what is to be expected». For I/Z it will most likely be the very first competition, because they don't have time to waste attending B-comps — they need to work towards maximizing their tech content.
It sets them apart from other teams, e.g. B/S and S/Kats. B/S are not to be worried about because they seem to have hit the bull's eye with their programs this year — in the opinion of everyone who has already seen their programs, even without lifts, and even their rivals admit that the programs are good. B/S will likely go to the nearby Finland (? aren't they listed for Oberstdorf?) and/or Russian Cup event to get more mileage on their programs, the «ship wrecks» (S/Kats) – not so much, they cannot afford wasting valuable training time, but «Zoueva likes to take her skaters for test runs, so I might be wrong».

If not, I/K have an advantage — the first Grand Prix for S/Kats will be their second, and they will have time to calm down a bit.

Lipnitskaya — it will be intersting to see her development. She hit a jackpot last year with her Olympic programs, it was a great luck, but also a danger. So far their approach seem to be «not worse than last year». And Yulia's mother is rumored to be controlling.

Nothing against Yulia's mom, on the contrary. But I do hate when moms interfere so much.
I'm not sure I like this thing, and what does it mean exactly.

There is also an interview with B&S

Bobrova/Soloviev: «It's a bit easier to breathe now» http://fsrussia.ru/intervyu/190-eka...solovev-v-etom-sezone-chut-legche-dyshat.html

http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/ind...h-love-14-summer-to-autumn-2014.92797/page-10

An extract where they talk about their LP:

Anna Karenina was an unanimous choice, they watched first Joe Wright's version, but that wasn't «it», and they went back and watched Alexander Zarkhi's classic one. Dmitry is Vronsky, Katia is Anna. Music is from «the American film» (they probably mean the UK version). Ekaterina: it's a difficult story to tell, forbidden love, loveless marriage, the child she cannot leave, societal contempt, despair, tragic final — it makes for an interesting program.

An extract of an interview with Ksenia Monko & Kirill Khaliavin:

http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/ind...mer-to-autumn-2014.92797/page-10#post-4317328

Ksenia Monko/Kirill Khaliavin: «The free dance was inspired by Rodin sculptures»:
http://fsrussia.ru/intervyu/188-kse...m-tantse-vdokhnovlyalis-statuyami-rodena.html

They spent the off-season in Moscow, the work was very fruitful: the programs, the costumes, the music are all ready, only need some finishing touches. They participated more actively in choreography, suggested music for both the free and the short dance. The SD is «classical flamenko that can be perfected endlessly», FD was inspired by Auguste Rodin's The Kiss — tried to do it more «monumental»: big skating, sculptural poses. Have worked a lot on lifts with acrobat Dmitry Ionov. Many judges and technical specialists attended their practices and gave feedback, which gives them more confidence going into the season, especially now, with all the rule changes.

Open Test Skate was always open for public, at least for last few years. At Russian Forum I already read that it is for free, no paying. Thanks to it, many photos and some videos always appeared last years (with the exception of the Olympic year).

Ehh when she's out competing at such a young age I'm not surprised her mom is around and more controlling, especially since all the crazy attention this year probably costed her an Olympic Medal, maybe she became more protective. I'm from Toronto and I've heard stories about Patrick Chan's mom from his early days. Other skaters too their parents are usually helicopter parents, the kids do love the sport but their parents are usually there to keep them on their toes and make sure they aren't getting snubbed for anything.

I am sure that somebody will be faster in putting links here, but I will try. :agree: :)

Althought it is only the beginning of the season, in September it is fully possible to look at couples and see how well they were preparing during summer (all of them have some training camps in their feet), watch their technical ability - edges, clean skating, speed - skating of each skater and skating like a couple, compare it with previous season. To see some improvement since last year.

And also to look at programs (skated with full content of course) and try to pronounce whether it has high potential or not. It is too early to expect some big presentation or terribly well synchro in all movements, because each program must be skated many times both at practise and competitions to allow skaters to get used to it and to express the program well instead of thinking on what place the hand should be...

So I am very curious to see all dancers in Open Test Skate. :)

(I don't understand...Vika and Nikita really didn't come? New couple without any results behind back in this moment can allow not to attend Test Skate? But all others had to? If SD and FD were really skated in one day, than whole journey from US to Russia and back would take 2 days, maximally 3 days with a place for rest.)

Can they allow themselves to do that??
Even if they aren't obligatory(?) I think it's pretty stupid to pass these opportunities to get help. ..

Sinitsina and Katsalapov are not going to the open skates either.

http://itar-tass.com/sport/1409318

Did they say why? Short/free dance is not ready or some injury? Strange. Because Zoueva's teams Davis/White (Champs Camp) and Virtue/Moir usually participated their test skates. Davis/White even changed their free dance to Waltz after tests in 2012. I expected some competition before grand prix because they said. they wanted to do. S/K are not in Finlandia Trophy too. (Especially mentioned this one) Shibutanis will be in Ondrej Nepala and Aldridge/Eaton will be in U.S. International FS Classic I could have missed other Senior-B's.

Odd. Maybe Zueva or a scout they sent out filmed footage and sent it back?
But it is super weird, especially even since Meryl and Charlie changed a whole program after Champs Camp a couple of years ago, like mentioned above.

I remember reading in that article that they hadn't even picked the FD music. Maybe that's still the case?
