2014 Nebelhorn Trophy

Wow Elizaveta. That program has a real statement on it. Aesthetically she's not my favorite skater, and I think she still has a lot of polishing to do (but by gosh she's only 17 and she looks like such the mature veteran compared to the others so far!) but there's something about her that's just undeniable. When she hits, she draws me in. And that final spin. It was great. I LOVED the blur at the end.

And a 64.94 is a great early season score, especially considering it wasn't technically perfect. She looked pleased with that and I don't blame her!

That's a PB for Tuktamysheva! I'm so happy for her & hopefully this will help her get back on track.

i was surprised she got her pb sp score. i thought the jumps were well below her peak and the performance seemed half-hearted at times. maybe i was just too nervous watching her because of last season

It's a new PB for her actually! Which she had way back in 2011. I think this is the first time she hasn't has a meltdown in the SP in some time...

She did perform though) I think it was her best presentation of sp so far. So it's not a surprise it was her pb in sp :)

I like Liza's Bolero:love:, choreography and her movement, though I admit I don't like her dress:mad:

I also like her shape, as I always think Russian girls are too skinny to make me scared.

I've been going back and forth about Liza's costume and I've decided that I like it.
Her performance started out a bit hesitant but she really got into it in the middle and I love it when she skates with intensity and her movements suited the music and also suited her.
She's different from the other Russian ladies (not the tiny ice fairy type). I really enjoyed that.

Every time I hear the end of that music I expect to hear remarks about hearts on sleeves, Dick Button whimpering and Peggy talking about how Michelle has taken our minds off the world problems.

Also I haven't seen anyone serve so much face during a step sequence since Oda at Nebelhorn last year.

That's an Inflation!

Previous PB was at TEB-2011, when she skated absolutely clean with 3Lz+3T and won Kostner, who also skated very good.
Lisa at that GP became first and only one (AFAIK) Lady, who won both Events of her debut GP.
She also is first Lady who won her debut GP Event.

Well, yes, scores have gotten inflated since 2011. Surely you must have noticed the very high marks many skaters got last season, or the fact that the vast majority of the top scores of all time in all four disciplines are from the past two-three seasons? You'd think that nobody skated well before 2012.

I'm still happy for Liza and wish her well. Strange to think that she's not even 18 and this will (hopefully) be a comeback season for her.

Leonova didn't deserve that score, but I approve of a lady in pants and a jacket.

Wow. Alena was really hard on herself after a relatively strong skate, but then scored a 66.72 which is a personal best for her.

I'm starting to think the judges want the Russian vets to comeback as much as some of their fans, lol. ;)
