Russian Qualifiers and other important competitions

It's the package not the way they skate. Even my friend who loves Russian girls agree that Serafima has a Yulia-like package this season.

I know we have some different opinions but here I would also agree that Serafima has a Yulia-like package. I still admire her skate in Ljublyana. The moment at 1:02 when she times her Ina Bauer to the beat is just gorgeous - emotion-wise I felt something close to what I felt watching Yulia.

Thank you. As you know I love Yulia. And I like Serafima very much. I simply stated that I hope they will chose something more original for Serafima next season.
I hope the same for other young ladies in Eteri's group. Right now they are still very young so the similarities don't matter much, as long as they improve their skills.

I know that people keep saying that Serafima is packed like Julia, but I'm sorry I'm just not getting this one:
1. What is a Julia-like package to begin with?
2. They're not similar skaters at all. Serafima is very outgoing and outwardly expressive; Yulia is emotional but in an introverted sort of way. Lyrical (which Serafima's SP is) is not something Yulia owns a trademark on or something; it is quite a common style for ladies.

I'm not going to compare the two, but I'll leave my opinion on Sima's SP:

I love the music. I love the costume. I just don't love the choreography. In fact, I don't like it at all. I think there was too much concern going on about jumps on the second half to earn more points, and that this concern was bad for the choreo. 4 jumps in SP, right. Why not make it 2 in the first half (combo, right before the music hits its peak) and 2 in the second? I know the goal is to win, but I'd rather have a more balanced program than an extra 2 points, from a viewer's perspective.

That was Eteri's first time Choreographing if I'm not mistaken. (Serafima's SP)

It's only 3 jumping passes in the SP. Both Zhenia and Sima start with a spin and then straight to StSeq. After that its already the last half of the program. I'll re-check the protocols because I might be wrong but IIRC...both girls do a spin then a StSeq.

ETA: I double checked my facts. Yes... Both girls do all jumps in the second half....Zhenia's first jump is a 2a while Sima's first jump is a 3f-3t. Both do a combination spin then a step sequence.

Unless Yulia changes from her test skate...she is still starting off with 3lz-3t for comparison. Now that the Juniors are done Eteri is probably working more with Yulia. They may be changing their set-up for the sake of getting points too.

Yes and one pass has to be a lutz (double or triple) not in combination as it is a required element this year for juniors.

Averbukh gave Makarova's Megapolis to Yulia and cut a part of Makarova's short to Medvedeva's program... I have to say Makarova's performing ability is underrated (or Averbukh was just a much better choreographer two years ago).

I absolutely agree. I can't see it either!

Meoima, I don't care that even your friend thinks so. My mother can't see any difference between Lysacek and Chan; she thinks that they have the same skating style and package (and the fact that my mother thinks so does not make it true either!).

The strange thing is the added music after the robot dance is from Ksenia Makarova's SP in 2012 and 2013 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Ky78SThBpY. From the same album as Yulia's SP this season, which is also Makarova's LP in 2013.

I like the Senior version of Evgenia's FS, but the Junior one makes even more sense to me, because there is the same music before and after the energetic part, so you can clearly see the transition good girl-bad girl and then bad girl-good girl...

Sotnikova will open the season on the ice she won olympic gold medal!! Wish it brings her good luck:)

Also excited that we'll see Stolbova/Klimov:)
