I am tracking byes and Challenge/Nationals entry quotas
here.
I'm updating as international entries come in. Domestic categories are based on the latest category the skater/team is entered for in the latest domestic competition. Challenge entries tracks the possible number of skaters/teams that each section can send to Skate Canada Challenge to qualify for Nationals. Nationals entries tracks the available spots at Nationals as skaters earn byes to it.
There are three types of byes that I am tracking:
Nationals - direct entry to Nationals, they will skate in reverse order of World Standings in the short program after the skaters who qualify through Skate Canada Challenge. If they choose to compete at Skate Canada Challenge, their result there will not have any effect on their bye or on their skating order in the short program.
They qualify for it with one of these criteria:
- top 3 at 2025 Senior Nationals
- Grand Prix assignment for the 2025-26 season
- qualification to Junior Grand Prix Final
- international assignment within 7 days of Skate Canada Challenge (Golden Spin of Zagreb, Warsaw Cup and Tallinn Trophy would be Challengers that fit this criteria for this season.)
Challenge - direct entry to Skate Canada Challenge, they will not count towards the section's quota of entries for Challenge.
The criteria for the bye is a
Senior international competition assigned by Skate Canada. Lake Placid Ice Dance International does not count for these byes.
Challenge - Conditional - direct entry to Skate Canada Challenge, the bye will need confirmation by competing at Sectional Championships. They will not count towards the section's quota of entries for Challenge. Their bye will be confirmed regardless of their result at Sectional Championships. If they have an international assignment within 14 days of Sectional Championships, that will count as confirmation of the bye.
The crtieria for the bye is a
Junior Grand Prix assignment or
Junior international assignment. The Junior competition at Cranberry Cup does not count for these byes.
