2025-26 Skate Canada Challenge | Nov 27-30

From watching Challenge, Canadian skaters really love a 2axel-toe combo, I don't think I saw nearly the same amount at USA sectionals. I don't mind it though, when done well they look good.
I think it's a trace from Next Gen requirements. 2a-3t was considered as a good thing to have a couple seasons ago.

Now, I don't think they should use it. Much easier to do 3t-2a for the same amount of points.

Well. This was an interesting competition. I was shocked Minsol didn’t win as she was undefeated in her four domestic events. She even beat Gabby handily (more than ten points) twice. She got nervous. I’m still happy to see her here. If she is released, she will have to fight hard as she lost to two of our junior skaters here: Uliana and Megan

For the Olympic spot, it is:

Maddie - 69%
SMD - 25%
Gabby - 6%

Even if Gabby wins Nationals, I would send Maddie or SMD (whomever finishes higher) to the Olympics. Gabby has to land 3Lz 3T and score over 190, at Nationals, for me to even consider her. Even then, I wouldn’t send her due to lack of proof.

For whatever reason, the protocol is not loading up. But looks like Shiryaeva did okay, though not stellar. I think Skate Canada is just going to hold its breath on junior women till next year with Cho. Barakhtina did decently in JGP, and if Korea moves on release, Kwon is great. Surprised she finished off the podium, but it is what it is.

Here's what the approximate start orders should be based on the Challenge results and world standings of skaters with byes:

Finally watched the full event for Junior ice dance and wow Canada has so many great teams... especially a few who stood out to me: Brière/Lévesque (they seemed so unhappy with their scores :frown: ), Breau/Che, Cincon-Debout/Celestino (such a fun team), Anderson/Dawson (the superior leave a light on program), Homick/Buelow (I don't know how many ID spots Canada has for junior worlds but I really hope they can go). I know theres no point in getting attached to the teams since 90% will split up or retire before they reach seniors but I still will. :)
