My dream podium...

Men - Year of the Sexy Man

Gold: Brian Joubert (what can I say? I love manly, french skaters...)
Silver: Plushy - Gotta love an awesome sneer
Bronze: Sandu - I love this man & how sinister he looks on ice.

Ladies - Year of the Diva (no teenyboppers allowed!)

Gold: Irina - Yes, I'm a Kwan uber & yes, this is dream podium but I'm too realistic to forget this is figure skating and she's played the game these past two years...

Silver: LaKwan of course! I'd put her into Gold but fear the skate gods too much

Bronze: DivaKwara... she's simply awesome.

Pairs - Year of the Comeback

Gold: Shen & Zhao... 'nuff said:bow:

Silver: Inoue (no Baldwin... he's creepy looking, plus she does all the work.)

Bronze: T&M (but only if I never, ever have to hear about the "FALL" again...)

Dance - The Year of "I Can't Believe I Actually Care!"
Gold: Navka - she's awesome
Silver: B/A - for not skating to some lame theme music & just dancing...
Bronze: Silverstein / O'Mera -

I'm not an expert on ice dancing by any means, but it seems to me that this ice dancing team that we are sending to Italy is the strongest we have ever had.....42

I agree... and I'm not the most knowledgable either... but with Tanith and Ben going and Melissa and Denis there's no doubt the US will have high placements, and I have a lot of faith in Jamie and Ryan - a team that has the spunk, spark, and talent that the other two also have... just without the years of experience in skating together :agree:

Okay, I'll play, too.

In medal order.

Pairs:
Shen & Zhao, while the judges still have the opportunity to reward their greatness
Totmianina & Marinin - with no fluff about The Fall, otherwise DQ Terry Gannon!
Sentimental toss-up between Zagorska & Siudek (sp?) and Petrova and the man I used to call Lurch. They've all worked so hard for so long - and P&T are still getting better each year. Impressive.

Mens:
Plushenko, the last man standing from the top 4 at SLC. He's earned it, even when I'm dreaming.
Lambiel - but only if he can land that pesky triple axel, otherwise Buttle or Sandhu
Buttle, Sandhu, Weir or Savoie. I wish for clean skates from all four, regardless of placement.

Dance:
Belbin & Agosto, just so I can start hollering "DO YOU BELIEVE IN MIRACLES?"
Delobel & Schoenfelder
Drobieva and Vanagas - because they wuz robbed of this in 2002. JMHO

Ladies:
Suguri.
Cohen or Slutskaya
Slutskaya or Cohen
Any combination of these three on the podium would make me a happy girl.

Who am I kidding, I'll be happy for all the winners.
xoxo

I must respectfully disagree. We have a great team this year, but in 1984, we sent Blumberg & Seibert (who finished 4th and should have been 2nd), Fox & Dalley (who finished 5th) and Spitz & Gregory (who finished 10th). All three extremely talented couples, very enjoyable to watch. But this year, I don't see us getting all 3 in the top 10, much less 2 in the top 5. B/A in the top 5 or on the podium, absolutely. G/P in the top 10, pretty fair shot. But I don't see S/O getting much higher than 16th.

I'm just going to do mens and womens;

1)Plushenko (so he can win already and turn pro)
2)Lambiel or Jubert
3)Jeff Buttle (not just putting him there because he's my favorite, if he lands his quad, then, wow, watch out. he gets mega mega points on the pogram components score.

note: i highly doubt emanuel sandhu will make the podium. he is incredibly inconsistent. not to mention arrogant and when he does bad, he puts other skaters down (ie. jeff buttle) to make himself feel better.

Ladies:

1) michelle kwan (i hope she wins then turns pro, shes been around too long, and i do think she deserves to win it after all these years, and i hope another youngster doesnt come up and steal it again)
2)slutskaya
3) rochette or koster.

Jonny...........I remember Blumberg and Seibert, they were velvet on ice, Fred and Ginger all over again, but I don't remember the other two couples you mentioned. I guess I didn't go back in time far enough........:) 42

For pairs -- Gold -- Petrova/Tikhnov; Silver -- Zhang/Zhangl; Bronze -TT/MM

For ladies -- Gold -- a tie between Michelle and Irina. Silver and bronze -- Cohen and Suguri, in any order. Otherwise, a 1994 repeat with Irina getting gold; Michelle silver (complete with "full circle' fluff on Kwan/Kerrigan) and Kostner or Cohen the bronze.

For men -- Savoie gets the gold; Lambiel and Buttle get silver and bronze, in any order.

JonnyCoop, I must burst out now and say "Blumberg and Seibert were SO robbed!" When Torvill and Dean won with "Bolero", how can "Schezerade" be called atypical for ice dance? ( I know I need help with the spelling of Schez.... ). That makes me upset just thinking about it! They were awesome ice dancers and deserved the silver, IMHO!
