The Skate for Hope charity event is scheduled for the 30th. I haven't heard nor read much about it. Are Katy and Emily still going to perform? I had read unconfirmed reports that they were.
Sadly, I don't think Katy will be there.
Skate for Hope's own promotional material lists Emily Hughes, Keauna McLaughlin & Rockne Brubaker, Rachael Flatt, Parker Pennington, Tatiana Totmianina & Maxim Marinin, and Jenny Needham-Wall as guest skaters. No Katy (though a surprise performance would be exciting, I'm sure.)
Dutchherder, if you have time, let us know how the show is. Would love to hear an update on how everyone is doing. Wonder if the skaters will play it safe or throw in at least one tricky element - just to test it out. JW
They are supposed to be there as far as I know. I'll be attending, so I'll let you know!
For me, M/B and Rachael Flatt were the highlights of the show, as well as a group number which included a skater who is a breast cancer survivor and a program by really impressive juvenile skater Jason Brown.
Thanks for the reports. It sounds like it was a great show. Too bad Katy wasn't there, but I'm glad Emily was.
Does anyone know the music Emily skated to? Was it an exhibition program or her new competition program?
Found some at this link (posted at skatingforums): http://www.shutterfly.com/progal/album.jsp?aid=768a5498cf3c22a41584Any photos anyone?
Emily's mother was in attendance, and Emily did a rose presentation to her after her performance. There were many such presentations throughout the show, with skaters presenting roses to family and friends who had battled cancer. As the skater skated over to present the roses to the friend or family member, they played audio of the skater telling who the person was that the performance was dedicated to and why. It was quite lovely.
