Well, there is a article linked as a source for info, that his idols were Daisuke Takahshi and Plushy, so it's not false or anything. His idols might have changed of course, but at some point it was true.

Yeah, I'm cautiously not betting him to win since it's always hard coming off an injury(possibly not fully fit, lost training time, etc), but I do hope he's fully recovered and has two clean/satisfactory skates. Apparently b.esp. is covering jgpf this year; can't wait to hear tv commentary(that's not the annoying korean one... gah) on jun hwan, finally! :hap10:

That's a lot commercials! He was such a star as a child :luv17: Good luck at JGPF!

Is he one of those Korean kids who started with figure skating under the influence of Yuna? Or bit earlier than that or just simple coincidence?

I don't know if he started to skate because of Yuna (I don't think so), but I am sure he was and still is massively influenced by her skating. Their skating style is so similar, and it is not because he trains with Orser - he is the only Orser pupil whose style is very similar to Yuna's.

Apparently his injury is better, which is good to hear. The success rate on his quad sal is reportedly 90%. Hope all this isn't just made up by his agency- galaxia sm is quite sketchy.
But anyways. That just me being unnecessarily pessimistic. He does look good in the practice clips. There's a longer one on naver but it's geoblocked.
Some fluff in the beginning, new stuff from 1:21.

I don't mind him not winning jgpf at this point, tbh. It would be good to have less pressure from the fed, media, etc. Imagine the expectations going into JW. :hopelessness: He's been subpar in the sp multiple times before, he can definitely bounce back in the free(I do want clean skates from everyone though- no disaster like last year's!). Honestly, just medalling would be good- it could position him perfectly to have a better result at junior worlds. Can't be on a high all the time. :)

If Jun will skate well in FP, we will see him on podium, which is huge accomplishment on its own! I agree not winning will lessen a pressure a little, he won't be seen as clear favourite for JWC title, just one of contenders :) Wish him fully recovery as well! Hope they will take some time to let it heal more after JGPF.

His FP run through went fairly well, he landed 3lz-3T (EDIT: I put the wrong combo lol, sorry) and 4S, but fell on the second 3A.
I'm worried through at how long is his preparation for the 3A. He's loosing so much speed, I'm afraid he's gonna fall each time (and he actually did). But he can reach the podium, still. If he's clean or almost clean, even with the other top 3 clean, it can be enough.

Yeah, 3a is not his pretty jump, lol. Aside from the fall in practice (and the fact that his ankle is still on the mend) though, I'm surprised at how consistently he's been landing it. It doesn't look good, but he makes it happen in competition. Hope it gets fixed. I agree, if jun hwan hits it out of the park, the 10 point gap might not be enough for the top two unless they have a squeaky clean skate. But that's a lot of if's, I guess. I do think he can nab at least bronze though, unless his ankle bothers him more tomorrow. I don't think Savosin is getting the pcs to compete.
