Joe, did you read Salman Rushdie's Ground Beneath her Feet? There is a point there where Rai's mother is yelling at Vina for loosing her virginity. I don't have the book near me (lent it to my mom), but he idea is that the curses she throws at Vina don't hurt her; what hurts is "I am so happy you are not my daughter", and other sayings like that.

This is why I don't like to answer surveys like this. Most of the questions are harmless, but you never know who's lurking out there.
