Oh, thanks dears for all the updates. That FSTV video surely made my day

The SP sure will have some unique choreo moves there, I really hope Kazuki will successfully present it clean in competitions with all level 4 steps and spins. Really praying his jumps and quads works for him this season, especially with the new rules for the SP, it will be hard to get results if not skating SP clean so the pressure is higher on that

It is a great compliment coming from Mills that he entrusted this piece of music to Kazuki especially that he said he attended 4CC just to see him (although we know 4CC wasn't Kazuki's best competition last season).

What I like the most about the glimpse we saw from their work together is how Mills was including Kazuki as he works on steps, choreo and taking his inputs into consideration as they try to put the program together. Not sure if Kazuki was always doing that while working on the choreo with Misha or Misao Sensei but I am quite glad to see that. And generally, I love their working atmosphere, really nice to watch them working together  Also what Mills said to him about the judges ;)

Now I am hoping so hard that he can debut it in the next PIW show

Hi everyone! First of all, congratulations to us! This thread is exactly two years old today, and we achieved the milestone of 1000 replies! Yay!

Now, for the video... Maybe later I can to a better analysis (it's hot, and I had a few drinks, you know the drill), at the moment I'm just SO. DAMN. EXCITED.

The choreo looks great! I love that Kazuki was participating in the process and communicating well with Mills-sensei! And the things Mills were saying about him and to him really gave me the feels...

Also, the 4T! The bit at 2:42 looked suspiciously like a 4T entry!!!! His 4T at the end of the video looked great, too! Is he going for a 2-quad SP? :drama:

Don't think he will go for that (at least I think so but who knows  ). It will be the first time to add 4T this season (not even sure if he will go for 2 or 3 quads in the FS yet) so it is so risky to add it to the SP at least at the beginning of the season. Maybe when he succeeded to land 4T in competition with consistency, he may add it to the SP.

And yeah, thanks for the reminder ^^ happy anniversary to this thread :hap10: and again thanks to Tsuyoboogie for creating it for all Kazuki's fans :luv17:

I agree, thanks Tsuyoboogie! :luv17:

Putting a 4T in the SP would be incredibly risky, yeah. However, sadly due to how the judging has been done recently, many Japanese skaters are feeling that they have no choice but to take risks and increase difficulty. Among the men, we saw both Yuzu and Shoma talking along these lines, and in Ladies both Satoko and Kaori said they wanted to include a 3A in their programmes even if they never landed one! So I wouldn't be surprised if Kazuki decided to take this path, too... It's so sad and it makes me worry about the skaters' health, but I sort of understand why they feel like they have to do this in order to be competitive :(

Hello everyone! This is the first time I post in the forum but I’m a long time reader.
I’m a Kazuki’s fan since I saw him in Milan, I went to the World Cup angry for not being able to see Yuzu and I ended up completely in love with Kazuki.
Has there been any news on Kazuki’s challenger competitions? I’m hoping for the Lombardia Trophy again... ☺️

Welcome back Tsurara! :luv17:
Thanks, but not yet, local amateur baseball championships has just started and I'll be busy for it for another while! But checking in here time to time!

Hi everyone! Did you see Kazuki's HILARIOUS instastory yesterday?
https://twitter.com/FSIgstories/status/1147519194029809670 :laugh2:
 Isn't that supposed to be done by a kick or something??? Or at least that's what others I saw were doing. :scratch2: I love it though!

Wow, I didn't even realize that! Gratz to us all!
(Actually the real 1000th post of this thread is the video linked one that tsuyoboogie posted because we're missing one ;))
Anyways, I'm waiting for your analysis, KiraraChin!

Regarding quads, the commentator of DOI said his MR Free program will have 4T and 4S (I watched a re-run on TBS/CS yesterday, as it rained and ruined my ball game plan), and I think he's also going for 2-quads in SP... but I'm not good at guessing these things too much and you all may be right about it being too risky. I was even thinking about him challenging 4Lo in Free, though... but that would be likely too much, considering how hard both the programs would be.

Speaking of MR, as I rewatched it, I started to feel like the "sudden" feeling of the music-cut was from how soon and loud(kinda) Your Song part started than it should (for me), instead of how/where Roxanne was cut - when I was still charged up for Roxanne's passion - and I personally felt there wasn't enough time of silence for me to switch the air... maybe only a matter of milliseconds or just a tiny volume control or that sort, though.
Maybe Misha had the program made (or just in mind) when Free was longer and he had to shorten certain parts to fit it for the current Free's length? I still wish ISU would rethink about the length for Men's Free...

Hiya! JSF's Senior camp started on 13th (yesterday in Japan) and I believe they had a selection test skate for CS on that day. So, we may hear the news very soon. The camp ends on 16th, iirc. TV Tokyo (I'll be watching it on BS TV Tokyo after midnight) may be showing a bit of the camp tonight, and one of the famous photographers headed to Nagoya (close to Chukyo where they're having a camp)! so, yeah, expect some news coming very soon!

For now, I'm wondering if Tomono-kun is planning to enter Gensan Summer Cup this year too.:scratch2:

Asahi Shimbun (one of the major newspapers in Japan) is starting a 4-time weekly series on Tomono-kun on their Sunday papers (4 articles in total if I'm correct), starting Next Sunday!
https://www.asahi.com/shimbun/tokyo2020/mirainote/
It's a sport article series of "successful" athletes, to motivate/inspire school children, suggested as NIE or educational/teaching materials in newspaper. I'm thrilled to see that they chose Tomono-kun from FS Men! (Satoko Miyahara from FS Ladies and Shohei Ohtani from baseball in the past, and you can find many different top athletes in the samples in the link above! Unfortunately these articles are not free, but you can probably read the first page on pdf for free. You can subscribe to their digital version but it costs too much for 4 articles lol I'm a subscriber, so yeah, count on me, I just need to buy time.)

Welcome here Giu. happy to see more Kazuki fans joining here :hap10:

Fate has its own way, I am actually envious that you did watch that amazing performance of him live :)

 Wait, I think I'm missing something... what are these new rules for the SP???

As per my understanding (which can be wrong) of the following part, it seems they will be stricter with the GEO in SP and if you pop or have other jumps doesn't match requirement in SP you will have -5 on it (Before that change, if you pop a jump, it will only not be counted but now you will get -5 GEO!!)

"In Short Program, the final GOE must be -5 if the Jump Element is not according to requirements. This means for example that the Jump Element has wrong number of revolutions, jump is repeated or jump combination has only one jump and the sign +COMBO."

Welcome, Giu! Nice to have you here! :luv17:
Wow, so you actually watched Kazuki's epic Milan performance live!!! I watched it on the TV and couldn't help but falling in love with him (even though, like you, I was upset Yuzuru wasn't participating), I can only imagine the impact of watching it live!

As Tsurara said, we should have news of CS assignments very soon!

Good luck! Are you actually playing? :)

Haha I watched the FSTV video again and was really, really happy with what I saw. The way Mills spoke about him, and seemed to have extra care with the music and the movements. They way they communicated - Kazuki's English being so good and he really didn't have a problem with giving suggestions! The choreo looks so interesting, and Kazuki's moves look so smooth, his SS improved so much! I can't even imagine the Kazuki of the 2017-18 season being able to pull off this kind of programme, so him and Misha's hard work in this area is incredible!

Furthermore, what Mills said about pushing Kazuki in a contemporary direction... I was so happy to hear that! This is exactly what I think Kazuki can excel in - not many skaters are able to pull off contemporary stuff the way Kazuki does! I hope this partnership with Mills goes a long way and we can see Kazuki exploring more and more interesting options!

I agree with you here! As for the quads in the FS, I have no doubt he will have both 4T and 4S in the free. My question now is about the SP, but I have a feeling he might risk it... Pretty much everyone in Team Japan is going this way :drama:

I'm so happy he was chosen! This is so incredible, I really have no words to say how happy I am to see him having this recognition!
Please take your time, Tsurara, but it would be awesome to read the articles!

Kazuki revealed today at the Team Japan's annual training camp that he's been working with a personal trainer since he got the sponsorship with Central Sports in December, and that he hopes this will improve his jumps. From what I could understand, it's not about gaining muscle, it's about getting more stability and balance

Sorry for the self-quote
It's just if you look at the pics released today, he is noticeably stronger! :luv17:

It's even more noticeable if you actually compare with a pic from last year: https://twitter.com/main120312031/status/1150799382687522816 (last year's on the left, this year's on the right)

Also, his lines and posture are becoming even more gorgeous (didn't think it was possible!). I know he's done ballet in the past, so I wonder if he's been doing ballet more seriously now because of his SP!
Check out this pic with Shoma: https://twitter.com/choromatsu333/status/1150804017574010882
And these two pics with Satoko: https://www.instagram.com/p/Bz7-Ni2JeXS/ and https://www.instagram.com/p/Bz77Biup8Cz/

Thinking about it, his 4T on the FSTV video looked incredibly effortless, especially compared to attempts from previous seasons... I have no doubt the physical training is helping, as he gets stronger it must become easier for him to prop himself up and make the rotations. IIRC a similar process happened to Yuzuru, in which he was very skinny when he was younger, and after moving to TCC he gradually built more muscle and stamina which helped him upgrade his layout.

I'm just so proud of Kazuki, he's obviously working incredibly hard to be able to pull off his programmes, and we can literally see his effort paying off!
It's even more incredible when you think he looks so good and fit, and yet we know from recent posts he's still eating all the ramen :laugh2:

OMG Gensan Summer Cup will be so tough this year! :drama:
For those who don't know, Kazuki has been participating and winning this tournament over the past few years. The main prize is a box with prime cuts of beef, which he's always super happy to receive! Look how happy he was last year: https://imgur.com/KI2ucCQ

Here's Kazuki's bit (translated by Google, Tsurara please correct if there's anything wrong!)

ど の What kind of work did you do during the off season?

Tomono: The first thing is the spin and free leg. I think I'm working on where I can make improvements right now, and I think the free leg, which I didn't have last season, has been firmly fixed. Since the sponsor's Central Sports runs the gym, I am getting support from the trainer and training so that the jumps can be jumped little by little and skating. It has become more stable gradually, how to use the body has become better. The way to show the skating than in the last season, one by one movement, can be broken down to the (expression of the finger), it has grown by itself In particular, spin and free leg showed a solid growth in the game Yes. "

陸上 Does the on-the-ground training be an effort that focuses on the use of the body rather than the power-up?

Tomono "Both are. Training to stimulate the nervous system and also to prevent injury. Since I am still thin, I am doing a lot of weight training by creating a body that does not get injured."

── Do you mainly train your lower body?

Tomono "No, upper body too. Using the whole body firmly, not partial, using the weight, feel its weight, and correct the way you use the body while controlling. The practice on ice is of course the most important, and on-the-ground training is an aid, but it seems that the body has changed little by little. It is not a training to do it, but I am getting better and better, and I am doing core training, so in terms of controlling my body, I think I grew up so I can feel it myself. "

ど の In what part of the skate do you think training is most effective?

Tomono: I feel a sense of stability at the moment of icing or jumping, or a correction of the axis when tightening (body when jumping). I also like skating and free legs, but to raise the legs I think that I should have a strong muscle, and I think that I have come to be able to do more difficult positions and movements more easily by repeating the training that I was taught by (Philipp) Mills, such as ballet lessons. Although I have not yet made sense of stability as a whole, I am doing training while being aware of which muscle of the body I am using, etc., so I use it everywhere on the ice I understand that I am using it for both skating and jumping. "

き っ か け What was the reason for thinking that you needed track training?

Tomono: "We did it last season, but we didn't have a dedicated trainer, and we don't have it every week ... It's the first time we have a one-on-one basis (with the trainer). I also felt that my skaters still lacked stability even when I saw them, so I would like to continue full-scale training on a level that does not place a heavy burden on practice on the ice. "

感 じ I felt that the four-turn toe loop had its results.

Tomono: " Let's go out ... I'm feeling ... (laughs). I have been practicing on the ice all the time, so I do not know suddenly, but I was able to go around easier than before, The sense of stability when bringing it into a combination, or even impossible icing, can now be brought in quite a bit (the second jump can jump). At the beginning I was able to put on my weight, but now I am getting better with my weight, and even if I'm just walking in my private life, my body's "core" is more than before. I want to put it to skate this time. "

--- Please tell us about the new program.

Tomono “The short program is choreographed by Philip Mills and is“ The Hardest Button To Button. ”It is not the original music but the music in the contemporary work of ballet choreographer Wayne McGregor. How would you like to express it Speaking of contemporary, I mean that I understand the music firmly and express it in my body, so I am conscious of it and contemporary is one of the genres I really like and want to do. In addition to choreography, I was instructed on technical aspects such as how to use free legs and how to work in ballet, etc. The free program is “Moulin Rouge” by Misha Gee's choreography. It is clear that the strength and weakness is clear and there are many appealing points. It is a song that encourages you to “do strong performance” which is the goal of “Zun” I want to show new expressions in the art side in the short, I think it would be good if the free performance was strong enough "

Tomono, who talked about training in detail. The words overflowing one after another show how steady growth is realized.

From what I could understand he's been working really hard to strengthen his body, and this is making the jump rotations and combos easier!
I also love the fact he's working on spins, it's always been a relatively weaker area for him, so hopefully from now on he will make all the levels and won't leave any spin points on the table

I'm sure you've already seen it by fans' tweets, but the above is the link to today's Mirai Note article. I was originally planning to take a photo of the article and send it to you, but I see that some fans have already uploaded ones on Twitter and realized I didn't need to  (pm me if you can't find one)

The article is written in relatively simpler and clearer Japanese for school children by a professional writer, and it should be easier for Japanese learners (and Professor Google) to read, compared to other fs articles with dialects, slang or tech terms by non-professional writers.

One thing I want to note: it says Tomono-kun was very good at karate's "Kata" when he was learning it as a kid.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karate_kata
Read the explanation of the above term, and you'll see why I was amazed and well-convinced at the same time!

So, many articles to translate and so little time for all :coffee: What is your priority for now? lol
(I've got some time today to rest and translate, though I'll be doing it while watching ball games on live streaming and tv and may not be able to concentrate enough, and no, KiraraChin, I only watch and cheer and get sun-burnt! Sorry that I've been postponing replies back to you all!)

Just a quick translation of Tomono-kun's today's tweet:
記事を見て笑ってしまった。
いまだに細い道あったら渡ってしまうし障害物あったら飛び越える癖ある。
(誰もいない時ね)
なんも変わっとらんやばい。
Taking a look at the article, I had to laugh.
I still have the habit, to walk on a narrow path when I find one, and jump over every obstacle on the way.
(That is, only when nobody's around!)
Haven't changed at all. Yabai (OMG).

Kazuki performed his new SP at PIW today! Though I did see a tweet saying it was not the complete program.
He seemed to have attempted the 4T but was unsuccessful (doesn't say whether he fell or what happened)
The top of his costume is described as navy blue gradating up to a pink, high neckline with black, lacy? sleeves.
This fan tried to sketch what they remembered of his costume. https://twitter.com/amk62469130/status/1152778320158683136

Lots of photos taken by fans of him riding a Benz into the rink. Seems he mentioned getting his driver's license a little over a year ago.

I practiced karate for a short time when I was young and though I was terrible at kumite (sparring), I loved doing kata.
I can totally understand why Kazuki would do well with this exercise.

And one more pic of him in the Benz, posted by the boy himself. Absolutely adorable!

EDIT:
Just posted to his instagram story, a beautiful 4T3T done during his SP practice.

I'm not sure about this shade of dusty pink. -It looks a little strange around the neck.
-But I'd have to see it in motion first.

The 4T-3T I'm so happy to see. Go Tomono-kun! :luv17:

I agree about both the costume and combo.
The costume may change though. That happened during the last two seasons.

I think if the colour was a bit more intense - and the neck piece better cut - I would probably love it :luv17: He's definitely growing up and looking more mature.

Hi everyone, thanks for the updates!
As expected lots of cute fan pics and Kazuki's update with the Benz made me laugh! He looks so happy!

Check out these gorgeous pics! https://twitter.com/AxelQuadruple/status/1152829724806111233
I agree that his costume seems to be a placeholder, but look at his lines! His posture!!! So gorgeous!

Also, here's his 4T3T for those who don't have IG: https://twitter.com/tsuyoboogie/status/1152820797607731201
I am absolutely shook, it looks so effortless. Let it sink in this is the FOURTH tech upgrade he's shown us this season, in addition to the 4T itself, the 4lo (not yet landed but looking promising) and the 4S3T.

Not to mention his muscle training, ballet classes, working on spins, extensions, learning the new choreo... and studying and eating ramen! Where does he find the time!? :eeking:

He also finds time to be completely adorkable with his friends. Look at Marin's instastory! :laugh:https://twitter.com/KiraraChin/status/1152849217557340160

Thanks, Tsurara! Since you said the Asahi Shibum article seems relatively simple, would you be so kind as to translate it first, please? :)

It's so nice to learn more about his background. I had no idea he had practiced karate!

Also, good luck with the baseball! Hope the team you're cheering for wins! :hap10:
