Yay - Canada has someone in the GPF (not talking juniors). Dave Lease from the TSL seemed to take great joy Canada had no representative in the GPF in Canada of all places.
I don’t think “great joy” would be an accurate characterization; he made a joke about it.

Of the men competing at the GPF, Keegan has the second highest SP score and third highest FS and combined score. He's a contender for the podium.

@siberia82, I’m so sorry to hear about what you went through! It must have been incredibly scary. I’m glad to hear you’re doing better and to see you back on the forum.

And although I’m sad Hanyu had to withdraw, I’m very happy Keegan will represent Canada at the GPF  and really look forward to watching and rooting for him!

^ I was talking about ISU personal best scores. Also, Uno achieved a higher PB SP score at Lombardia so Keegan does have the second highest ISU PB SP score of those men competing at the GPF.

PERSONAL BEST is not the same thing as SEASONS BEST. I believe you mean SEASONS BEST, not PERSONAL BEST.

PERSONAL BEST is the highest score a skater has received to date in a category (SP, FS, Total). It could have been achieved yesterday or 5 years ago.

For example, Nathan Chen's PERSONAL BEST SP is the 101.94 he got at Worlds 2018.

SEASONS BEST is the highest score achieved in a category in the current season.

Seasons Best scores can be reliable for skaters who are very consistent. Uno and Chen are quite consistent---their scores may vary a bit from one event to another, but remain in a high range, as you would expect from the World gold and silver medalists. Voronov's score was relatively low at SA but rose at NHK, which is usual for him---he usually does better as the season goes on. I'd expect him to be better at the GPF than he was at his two events.

Cha's score went down from SC to FIN, but then he had those two events back-to-back, and as he trains in Canada, he won't be traveling for the GPF. Brezina is unpredictable, but the judges love him and he always gets extremely high PCS. His performances have improved dramatically since the coaching change to Aratunian.

When Keegan is good, he can be very, very good. But when he is a little off, you don't know what you're going to get. I remember him well when he skated for the US---he could bring the house down, or he could lay an egg, and you never knew what he'd do until he took the ice.

I believe chuckm, you have missed the memo:

Statistics Personal & Season's Best
Further to the introduction of the +5 / -5 GOE, all statistics start from zero for the season 2018/19. All previous statistics are now historical.

Personal Best Scores: Men
Total / Short / Free

Notice that all the PBs ISU lists are from this season. ISU PERSONAL BEST equals SEASONS BEST for the 2018-2019 Season, since they made all previous statistics historical.

Is not Keegan Messing training in Alaska? I very much hope that earthquake there is not going to affect his coming to GFF:pray:

He lives in Anchorage, which is where the earthquake--a magnitude 7.0--hit. Six minutes after the first quake, there was a second 5.7 quake.

Well, it's a good thing Chen cannot finish both first and fourth, and that Uno cannot finished both second and third. From that perspective, Keegan's got the third highest total score on your list.

But he's also got the lowest score. Question is, which Keegan will show up at the GPF.

Is this Iliya's first video interview? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6ghqAOka-E I've just realized that I didn't know what his voice sounded like until now.

After the earthquake in Anchorage, I think we can cut him some slack in terms of whatever placement or score he receives.
