Random Fun

Here is a cute interview made by fans a couple of year ago at TEB. They are really relaxed and Vanessa is so cute. Her French is also quite good and she had to translate everything for Morgan because he didn't understand anything lol.

Here is them getting ready for Sochi games ;)

You forgot to mention that Morgan is one of the hottest men of the circuit
I wish the best for them in the future! Missing this European medal this year was too bad :( They had a rough season debut with changes of coach, but managed to do it well at Worlds, I'm full of hope for them :)
Go Vanessa and Morgan !

lol you know what that is a shame we can't embed pictures on here because I wanted to put one to show said hotness

This is the retranscription of what Maxim Trankov commentated on Russian TV during the WC2015. The translation was done by Xela M on figure skating universe http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/index.php?threads/maxim-trankovs-pairs-commentary.95594/page-5

where it can be seen in full.

Trankov on James & Cipres' short programme at Worlds 2015...

[in the beginning] "Well this is, in fact, technically one of the strongest pairs. They trained all summer with us with Stanislav Morozov. Last year, or in general in the previous seasons, their biggest obstacle was the twist element and Stas fixed it and afterwards they became very competitive. The guys jump very well and have very big throws. And they are in general very striking thanks to the female partner. The male partner is strong and attractive and the female partner [has an] exotic look."

...

[during the replays] "But generally, it's difficult for these guys to work. They don't have a pairs skating coach. They are coached by Morgan's coach who coached him when he was still skating as a singles skater in juniors. It's his coach and now he is training them in pairs skating and they are also assisted by Fabien Bourzat - a European Champion in ice dancing, so of course..." [the other guy asks why they didn't stay with Morozov and Trankov says:] "Well, the French federation decided... They didn't perform very well at the GP events and in any event, it was difficult for them in Moscow and expensive and at one point the relationship became very strained so to speak between our Federation and the European Union. At some point they were just taken back, simply taken and they were told that... I know Vanessa was very upset about it. She cried over it, but the French federation told them to go back home, so they went back home."

His comments are really interesting I think. And that is quite cool that he thinks they have the potential to really be big. The details about their training conditions are quite sad however :/

Thanks for posting this! Very interesting to see his point of view.
They really lack a real team to surround them, and of course the Federation is not helping them. How sad when you they have the potential to achieve incredible things...

I feel badly for them, and all the talented French skaters. I wish there was something that could be done to help them.

Here's a little "unofficial" interview made by a french community (Stars Skating French), Morgan making an assessment of their season:

- How are you?
M: We are fine, we're enjoying our rest after this very long season.

-Let's come back on this season, how do you look back on it ?
M: The season has been difficult and turbulent. We left for Russia, then came back to France because Russia wasn't suitable for us. We made some strategy mistakes, and lost time, but we held on. There have been very good things, and other less.

-What were your best and worst moments in competition this season ?
M: We commit to memory our little bronze medal at the European Championships, and our medal at the Winter Universiades.

- You took part to the French Tour. Can you tell us a few words about it ?
M: The French Tour was super, but really exhausting, especially in the first part, because we had to stay in a good shape for the World Team Trophy. But we have very good memories, with the public, and with our french team mates.

-Can you tell us a little about the programs you chose for the Tour?
M:We had to do our Short program everyday for the show, to stay competitive, and we had a 2nd exhibition that we usually do for the shows, more impressive for the public and in harmony (????with the spirit of the french tour, maybe I don't really kow what he wanted to say)

-What's your plan for this summer ?
We're going to stay in Paris, and then we'll go to train in Vaujany (French Alps) in altitude, to be in a great shape for next season.

- Have you already started thinking about your new programs?
M: Yes of course, but we aren't totally decided yet.

-What are your goals next season?
M: Improve our scores and of course get on podiums.

- Where will you train next season, who will be your coaches?
M: We will stay in Bercy.

-To finish, a word for your fans?
M: Thanks to everybody for your support, and for everything you bring to us. If we go ahead, it's also thanks to you.

I have just finished adding info to daphenaxa's nice OP for Vanessa James and Morgan Ciprès. I found lots of surprises, including Vanessa's first pairs performance, which was with another girl in 1998, and vids of Morgan and Vanessa as singles.

Hope you guys enjoy it!

Thanks Doris ! I had never seen Vanessa's first pairs performance this is so cute ! Not sure but if I remember well Melyssa is her twin sister.

Yes, they're twins.^^ Both cute girls grew into beautiful women.

I wish something was done to up Vanessa/Morgan level of skating. They have what it takes to become a strong pair, but do not have the right team/surrounding. For how long is it going to last?

I am afraid it will last long, just because of the usual French federation working that can be really desperating sometimes...

Maybe if French fed had one ounce of common sense, they would release Bruno Massot so he could skate with Aliona and not ruin his career. And then they could have the 4 of them training together and pushing each other. Now that would be a win-win situation.

yeah :( I am aware of the French fed antics. But yeah I don't understand why you would want to mess up with your skaters so much when you already don't have a very deep pool of talent.

In fact there's a pool of talent. Of course, it's not comparable to Russia, or Japan, not the same population and popularity of the sport, but some youngsters could be really promising. The problem is that we just keep saying they are really promising, and nothing is done to raise them, or too late. Desperating to the highest degree.
