Compliment another GSer!

Special thanks to NMURA, for news from Japanese regional competitions, to gallavich for the wonderful Team Latvia thread, and to AlexRus without whom we would have little to no coverage of Russian younger age and qualifying competitions

To CaroLiza_fan, for supporting your skaters so ardently, and your infectious delight!

You know, I really wanted to include you in my list, karne, but I was worried that you might think I was being sarcastic. Let's face it, we do frequently disagree on lots of things. But, despite that, I do really like you. After all, we do seem to have the same taste in skaters... ;)

To coyotechris for his sense of humor in his posts (and camaraderie @ skating events)!

CoyoteChris is another member whose posts I always enjoy reading. Apart from the fact that his stories are so interesting to start with, the way he writes them makes them even more enjoyable to read!

Ooooh! I feel really bad for leaving them out! But, there are so many people on here that do so much that it is not easy to remember everybody in one go... :slink:

gallavich has been doing a great job championing the Latvian skaters. They may be from a small country, but they are making big waves, and deserve to be getting this sort of support. But I also want to compliment gallavich for having such good taste in skaters in general! Come on the SILVER FOXES!!!!

And thank you for mentioning all the hard work AlexRus does giving us so many updates about what is happening in Russia, and NMURA, who does the same for Japan.

On a similar vein, may I also thank Alex D for all the hard work providing updates about what is happening in Germany!

I don't know if she's already been brought up, but thank you to Sylvia for her news on Unseen Skaters! :cheer:

Also, :cheer: for sunny_stars for her news on the Korean FS team!

Thank you Alex D and all those who take the time to write long recaps of competitions! Even if they are livestreamed, it's always wonderful to read about the experiences of those who attended in person :cheer2:

Ooh! I forgot to say thank Kwanatic for her awesome blog posts at The Naked Ice. They're informative, well-written and always make me smile.

And I can't thank @xiangfuzi enough for both coverage and video of Chinese events :cheer: and for explaining the difference between the different events in China. :slink: I would have thanked them before, but I had to check how to spell their name first. Without xiangfuzi, we would hear very little about the wholly awesome Chinese pairs before the GP and after worlds.

Want to start this time by complimenting deedee1, whose posts are full of great heart and great writing.
I love esp. how vividly she shares her experiences and observations from the competitions that she and Mr. deedee1 attend.
She always is happy to cheer for every skater, whether they are among her very favorites or not.

Reminds me of CoyoteChris, who gives us a wonderful sense of preparing for and enjoying comps in person.

Thanks to satine94, CaroLiza_fan, and karne for mentioning me in this thread.

Appreciate satine94's goodwill to the GS community as a whole -- as evidenced by starting this thread. Great that it is growing so fast :).
I will never forget your good-natured humor when I once accidentally referred to you by a mash-up of your name with another member's. I was embarrassed by my stupid mistake, but you put me at ease and made sure that we had a nice laugh together over it.

Appreciate CaroLiza_fan's infinite patience with and unquenchable thirst for details, which far exceed my own.

Appreciate karne's passion for skating and skaters, as well as her lively writing. I've learned so much from you about so many different aspects of the sport. Thanks for giving us an insider's perspective of how technical panels work. Mostly because of you, Team Australia is starting to become more familiar to me. And of course, you have fueled my interest in Josh, Jason, and Maxxxxxxx. Really look forward to hearing about your trip to Worlds.

Glad to see many compliments for many others ... esp. for Mama P, Doris, and gsk8.

Newbiespectator deserves some love up in here :cheer2: Her artwork is amazing and I loved her reports with her sister from....was that NHK last year?....anyway....thank you Newbie' for keeping it real and being very positive in your posting.

Thanks Layback for the compliment. I've enjoyed all of your threads/posts and the enthusiasm you show for skaters and the sport in general.

Thanks so much Sam-Skwatch! I've learned so much from this forum from fans like you.

And Caroliza, thanks for the shout-out, you are one of the most positive and fun posters on this forum.

Big thanks also to all the posters who share information about the smaller skating countries, from the Philippines, Latvia, Argentina, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and more. You guys rock!

Thank you to IloveTodd for being such a good & positive friend, both on & off of Golden Skate. To Dee for putting up with me! And to all posters who are positive & considerate to all skaters.

Ah, a very nice thread.

I'd like to concur with so many that have already been mentioned and then chip in with Mikaboo and ioanap for bringing so much information about Japanese skaters to the forum. We who love Japanese skaters and yet do not speak the language would be lost without translations, so thank you!

There are just too many people and I'm too scared to forget someone to leave a substantive list, but I just wanted to say this is a very nice thread and it was very sweet to read all the tributes, all of which I wholeheartedly agree with

satine94: My right-hand woman when running the Predictions Games last season. I honestly don't know how I could have stayed sane without her. Always ready to give me a shoulder to cry on or a kick up the backside depending on what was required! Such a lovely girl to talk to.
CaroLiza_fan

!
You kept the Game running smooth all last season, even if it was rougher at some points than others. I'm glad I could assist you :)

Thanks to satine94, CaroLiza_fan, and karne for mentioning me in this thread.

Thanks! I still remember the name mash-up very well. I still think it was hilarious- something I'd unintentionally type myself

And I'd like to thank Sini for posting their report on the skates for Finlandia Trophy earlier today, as they were there in person. We might get 1 person per event that was actually there posting a recap, so thanks for taking the time to do that

I am flattered to be named here, it´s a great honor - thank you so much! :) and it keeps me going!

As I am scared to leave someone out (I am very bad with names), I repeat what I said a while ago. There are three major sources where I gather information about this sport, the skaters and federations who I talk to, colleagues I work with and last but not least the internet, especially the forum here. To be able to get details is very important, especially as it´s so hard at times!

Figure Skating has a close-knit community with many people contributing to it - most of them, without ever seeing any financial reward. I can not stress enough how important these people - you are! Keep it going and it would be wonderful if I can meet many more of you in the future.

Also remember, skaters do read what you post and it drives them forward ;) so you have their thanks as well.

I am relatively new to this forum--have lurked far more than posted! But there is so much I enjoy about it, and I have learned a great deal.

I have to thank gkelly for your amazingly informative postings about rules clarifications. I not only appreciate you taking the time to share your vast knowledge but also the engaging way in which you explain what could be dry subject matter.

Also I want to thank mrrice for your upbeat manner and humor (you often make me chuckle!) and for sharing your perspective from the dance world.

I'd also like to thank elhenry for your level-headed posts and for keeping the fires burning for some of the "classic" skaters I remember from growing up. From some of your recent posts, I realized we're close in age and I think even hometown so that's also a neat tie-in.

What a nice thread! Kudos to all of the members mentioned so far, for all the above reasons!

To coyotechris for his sense of humor in his posts (and camaraderie @ skating events)!

To merrywidow & Dee, for keeping lots of the games going!

Gail, I agree kudos to all the members mentioned. One of the people who helped me a lot when I first came to GS was Toni. I hope all is well with her and I miss her comments a lot...she always brought a new perspective to the conversation.

Special thanks you Gail (iluvtodd) and Grace (merrywidow) for keeping the games going and teaching me new words and stumping me on some!! You're the best.

Toni is very involved with mushing and her photography business. She is very active on facebook and Instagram. Once in a while she drops by here at GS.

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to all :cheer:

and now my list of thank-yous:
-DobrinFan for her (or his) ongoing enthusiasm and support for Adelina and also generally sharing info that we may miss from Team Russia
-Hailey Shin and her great help of keeping us updated with domestic Korean competitions and her enthusiasm in supporting the young skaters
-invisiblespiral, satine94, matmuh and ruffledgrouse for keeping me and everyone entertained during live-streams with their candor and fun comments in the dead of night.
-os168, 4everchan, and Snow63 and for their upright opinions and fun quibbles. Y'all are bunch of entertaining people to read opinions from.

can't thank the mods and admins enough! thank you :o:

:o: Thank you, Weathergal, it's good to know there are others who appreciate the "golden oldies".

I echo your comments, and echo the thanks to our mods, and to all who post video and instagram and twitter links, very much appreciated!

In addition, I would like to thank the regular posters to the Jason Brown fan fest (you know who you are:biggrin:) for the links, the comments, and most of all the sense of camaraderie and civility and humor. I always want to hear what all of you have to say:cool:

:o: Thank you...and HUGE thanks to dorispulaski for making this forum such a pleasure to visit, and for your endless hard work! And CaroLiza_fan for your equally good taste ;) and extremely well-researched OPs on the fan fests. I am nervous now, because I can't name everyone but I don't want to leave out anyone either...so I'm going to play it safe, and just give my thanks to all of the translators and users from other countries who share info about your skaters - a truly invaluable service. I'll just mention Sugarpova and LRK who seem to have quite similar tastes in skaters to me, and who are always entertaining; plushyfan for her tireless dedication keeping up the Plushenko thread and defending his good name  In fact, everyone who contributes to the fan fests deserves thanks, because it's my favorite part of the site by far for its positivity (most of the time, at least).
