2014 Finlandia Trophy

OMG! Liza's score is phenomenal! I'm thinking she landed a gorgeous 3 lutz/3 toeloop :eek:

Hmmm... great jumps VS good jumps. Same GOE? Ok.
Anyway, I respect judges' opinion. And your opinion too :) But IMO the difference between them is enormous. And not just in PCS. I wonder how judges would have scored Karen if she would have skated her SP here in Finland.

Edit: Of course I'm a bit biased. Just like almost everyone else here :)
Edit2: Oh and I just realized Karen's lutz was in the second half of her programm.
 
Congratulations Liza! It's good not only to hear about the score, but that she seems to really enjoy performing her SP.

It's always difficult to compare between competitions, and especially between Juniors and Seniors. Juniors are judged differently, and IMO, that's the right thing to do. I'm not all that enamored with Karen either, but this comparison is a little unfair :)

Yeah, once junior get into senior, their scores might not be that high since in junior they are compared to skaters their age, but in senior they are compared to many other veterans.
And yes, I hope Liza will soon crack that 70 barrier, she deserves it.

Without the olympic inflatation from last season, 70+ with a 3T3T will probably be really hard. With a 3Lz3T I think she'd have a shot... but better not to rush things, she looks great with a 3T3T, that combo has great quality!

She can move that 3lz into the second half of the program, can she? It's Bolero after all, it's monotonous so the layout can be interchangeable IMO.
 
Happy for Liza - she's off to a strong start this season. If anyone can find any video links at some point, let us know.

Samantha might have a chance to get on the podium - there's less than six points separating #2-5. I remember at Nationals she was 11th after the short and then moved up to 5th.

agreed!! i think she could do that, the lutz she showed today was just wooow and she got over 1 something GOE on that, she can actually manage to win SA if she keeps improving :D
 
Why is Karen Chen's spin GOE ridiculous? Her spins are very fast, well centered, and with great positions. She deserves +2 (and +3 on her layback). Care to explain why she shouldn't receive such "ridiculous" GOE on her spins?
 
I thought it was so funny when the Finnish commentators talked how Plushy could do the same program as Liza. The hand gestures and a kiss.. very Plush-y. :laugh: She also liked the dress.
I'm really not a fan of Liza's style of skating but i'm so happy for her and to see her smile and be confident again. She can really intimidate the other Russian girls.

Also... where is sky fly? Did she get banned or something..? U'd think she'd be bothering Liza threads.. :bang:

So many people watching in the audience too, great for Finland.
 
I like Liza, but seeing her live for the first time, I expected more command on the ice. What's wrong with Fleur Maxwell's PCS? Even with her poor jump content she's a real joy to watch.
 
Are there any videos yet? I'd love to see the Top 5 as well as the latvian girls (who unfortunately are last :cry: ) ! :)

Yeah, I've heard that Liza's ice coverage is not over the top. But she is still recovering so I understand that she is paying more attention to the jumps.
 
Well, Liza's bested her SP personal best score at two consecutive competitions - and that is great progress. :)

ETA - Impatiently waiting for vids along with every one else. :)
