2013 Russian Nationals Ladies

Tuktamisheva, Sotnikova, Korobeynikova, Leonova VIDEO:

Oh thank you soo much!

Liza!!!
I adore this young lady- so very different from the hyper-flexi young girls who come off as juniorish just trying to get points. She has grown and matured, skates very much from within herself, is musical, and that technique is bulletproof. Brava!

Adelina- she recovered well after than spin mistake, hope she finds her consistency. I'm really rooting for her, and Liza, as the top two Russians (they really are the 2 strongest in terms of whole package).

(Haven't seen any of the programs yet, so this is just based on the placements)
Happy for Liza, she's a fabulous skater and I think she's a real contender for a medal in Sochi next year.
Bummed for Ksenia, especially since she usually does so well in the SP. In terms of performances/placements this has not been her strongest season, but I really enjoy her programs this year. Best of luck to her in the LP.
I love Alena's skating and I do hope she can rally and have a great skate in the LP.

Finally Liza breaks the curse of bombing her SP at nationals
I love Adelina's skating, I hope the skating gods are finally showing her some mercy after all her issues:bow:
After a disappointing GP series and final, the Russian ladies really came with a vengeance here! A way better event so far than what we saw from the Japanese ladies at their nationals

Yes!!! Liza leads... I've got my Christmas wish! Hope she keeps things together for the long. Well done Liza!

yes for Tuk !!!! that 3lz-3t was really nice
anyone notice she looks thinner ? she is on the right track I suggest skipping dinner will help her lose even more weight

I hope for a Tuk, Radionova for gold and silver
Leonova is done and has been terrible this whole season

That's a healthy way to develop an eating disorder
Maybe she worked out a bit? She does look more fit, I hope she doesn't start to starve herself. Loosing weight at 16 is dangerous

her body clearly got thinner and her face too is less rounded
diet or no diet its going well for her, weight does affect your jumps.

Mishin has been heavily criticizing about Liza's weight, she must have probably listened

As far as I remember Mishin never said anything bad about Liza's weight, he said she goes through a tough time because of puberty and body changes which are normal for a girl at her age. Anyway I am really happy for how she skated today and I like that she is developing her own style, quite different from the baby ballerina type

No, Mishin mentioned on many interviews, Liza is going through a tough time becoming a girl to a woman and mentioned of her gaining weight
imo, part of the reason they replaced Tuk's SP is balletic music usually she does terrible and shows her weakness
she looks most comfortable in Tango not balletic and princess type music

I think as girls go through puberty they lose some of that "baby fat" in the face so hopefully she is losing the round face in a healthy natural way.

Congrats to Liza, Adelina and Elena, great scores. I am looking forward to watching the videos when I get home.
Thanks Mao88, much appreciated!

The jumps weren't there for Leonova, but she really performs the heck out of her program and she's got a lot of speed on the rest of the field as well. I actually enjoyed Korobeynikova the most, though. Can't believe Makarova is in 12th - well, I can believe it based on what she put on the ice, but it's weird. She's really sunk down the standings in the last couple of years.

There are better and healthier ways to lose weight ...

---

Happy for the top three! Nice 3Lz-3T and dramatic flair from Elizaveta too.

I really like Pogorilaya, too! I'm happy that the young girls are doing well today, finally! The question now is: if Makarova skates clean, will she be in top 3 with easier technical elements? (Except Sotnikova, yes) Liza:  I hope she works on her spins, though: the layback is still performed with a horrible basic position, and the CCoSp should have been a level 3, since she didn't hold the camel variation for two full revolutions after reaching the position.

Liza's layback is never going to be her strongest element - she has said (even before this past season) that the layback spin hurts her back

I absolutely hate Leonova's SP.
Oh Skating Gods please don't let her go to Euros or Worlds :disapp:
On a side note I liked how Sakhanovich spaced out all her jumps instead of making her program jump heavy early on.
